MITCH MCCONNELLSAYS THE UNTHINKABLE

Supreme Court justices are nominated by the president and appointed with the advice and consent of the National Rifle Association, according to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

McConnell offered this unusual view of the confirmation process during an interview with Fox News Sunday. In response to a question from host Chris Wallace, who asked if Senate Republicans would consider the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court after the election if Hillary Clinton prevails, McConnell responded that he “can’t imagine that a Republican majority in the United States Senate would want to confirm, in a lame duck session, a nominee opposed by the National Rifle Association [and] the National Federation of Independent Businesses.”

The Majority Leader’s statement is significant for several reasons. For one thing, it suggests that his previously stated position that “this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President,” is a sham. Simply put, it’s unlikely that the NRA or the NFIB will change their position on a nominee just because Hillary Clinton is president and not Barack Obama.

But it’s also worth examining exactly who McConnell would give a veto power over nominees. The NFIB, of course, was a plaintiff in NFIB v. Sebelius, the first Supreme Court case seeking to repeal the Affordable Care Act. That lawsuit called upon the justices to impose limits on federal power that even the late Justice Antonin Scalia refused to impose in previous cases (although it’s worth noting that Scalia abandoned his previous principled stance when given the opportunity to cast a vote against Obamacare). When the NFIB isn’t fighting to take health care away from millions of Americans, it fights equally hard against raising the minimum wage.

The NRA, meanwhile, is known for its increasingly absolutist opposition to gun safety laws. Though Garland’s record on guns is fairly thin, the NRA opposes Garland’s nomination based on two cases he considered as a judge.

In the first of these two cases, Parker v. District of Columbia, Garland played a very limited role. InParker, two conservative members of a three judge panel struck down the District of Columbia’s strict handgun laws, over the dissent of another conservative, George H.W. Bush appointee Judge Karen Henderson. The District then asked the full appeals court to reconsider this decision in a process known as en banc review. Garland was one of four judges who voted to rehear the case, as was Judge A. Raymond Randolph, an extraordinarily conservative H.W. Bush appointee.

A 5-4 Supreme Court eventually agreed with the three-judge panel in District of Columbia v. Heller, the first decision in American history to hold that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms.

The second case cited by the NRA is National Rifle Association v. Reno, where Garland joined a decision by Judge David Tatel upholding a database the FBI uses to audit the background check system used to screen potential firearm buyers. The FBI retained information regarding individuals who sought to purchase firearms for six months after they attempted to make this purchase, and used this information to perform “quality control checks on the [background check] system’s operation by reviewing the accuracy of the responses given by the NICS record examiners to gun dealers,” among other things.

After six months, information in this database was destroyed. Nevertheless, the NRA claimed that the FBI was required to destroy this information much sooner.

Judge Tatel’s opinion rejecting the NRA’s argument relies on several interlocking provisions of federal law, as well as longstanding Supreme Court doctrines calling for deference to federal agencies, so it is not easily summarized in just a few paragraphs. You can read his opinion and assess his reasoning here. It’s worth noting, however, that NRA v. Reno is a classic case of gun groups seeking to win a victory in the courts that they repeatedly lost in Congress.

A provision of federal law requires the government to “destroy all records . . . relating to the person” who seeks to purchase a firearm — something the FBI did after six months — but does not order the government to do so within a specific time frame. As Judge Tatel notes in the opinion joined by Garland, members of Congress attempted multiple times to change this law to require the government to “immediately” destroy records produced by the background check system, and these efforts repeatedly failed. Thus, having failed to write the word “immediately” into the statute, the NRA asked the courts to do it for them. Tatel and Garland refused to take up this invitation.

So McConnell isn’t simply delegating his duty to evaluate potential Supreme Court nominees to the NRA, he’s deferring to the NRA despite the fact that the gun lobby group’s case against Garland is very thin. It consists of Garland’s single vote to rehear a case that one of his court’s most conservative members also voted to rehear, along with a decision to allow the FBI to continue to perform audits on the background check system after lawmakers sympathetic to the NRA tried and failed to shut those audits down.

CONGRESSMAN'S WAREHOUSE

Have seen the commercials for Men’s Wearhouse, the dress clothes retailer, which end with the bearded CEO promising , “you’re going to like the way you look. I guarantee it.” But you almost certainly haven’t seen the ad for Congressmen’s Wearhous - until now !

While Congressmen’s Wearhouse doesn't really exist; or does it........

The video, a parody video if you will from Big Bad Boris, satirizes the purchasing of politicians, and foresees a day when the falling price of candidates ushers in a whole new way of campaign-financing– cut-rate candidates for the budget-conscious consumer!

CONGRESSMAN'S WAREHOUSE

The mission of CMW is clear: “At Congressmen’s Warehouse, you don’t have to be a billionaire to buy a candidate. We welcome your dark money no matter what denomination it comes in,” including bitcoins, Apple Pay and unmarked singles. 2016 has seen the rise of crowdfunding (Bernie) and self-funding (Trump) as alternatives to the super pac. Congressmen’s Warehouse offers another alternative – niche-funding or personalized pandering. Now every citizen can buy their own candidate, selecting from a ready-made set of memes, dog whistles and hidden agendas to advance their interests and obsessions.

They offer congressmen “tailored to your agenda and pocketbook,” enabling customers to build their own standard-bearers out of the latest political styles and stances, from climate change denial, to second amendment fetishism, to transvaginal ultra-sounding.

Often parody's mimic the realistic view or perception b y others - of the one being mocked, in this instance, this clip is dead nuts spot on.

STORE POLICY

COURTESY OF MIKE KEEFE

If you’re a moderate, liberal or independent you need to tune in and listen closely to what the right is saying – especially the Trump voter. It’s time to unite against the elephant menace.

By now we all know the hallmarks of Trumpenstein’s platform. All feel good ideas to the 35% of the righty who wants to make America great - like it was when women stayed in the kitchen, immigrants were the cheap help that came over the border to pick our fields and didn't stay, and government was small. You know, 1950.

Trump’s boarder wall makes me laugh. The problem is walls mean nothing to the motivated criminals, especially the drug cartels. These are the same guys that started using submarines when the Coast Guard amped-up their surveillance of the seas. Listen to what the Marines have to say about walls.

What pisses me off most is the utter contempt they have toward those that disagree. According to them we’re weak, racists against whitey, that we hate the military, that we don’t love our country like they do. Donald himself called us "pussies". "They want their country back!"

Well friend, we won the election. The Presidency is ours. Oh and we’re going to win this one too, albeit only if you get out and vote – take your neighbor, grandma, Uncle Joe. Make sure your college student is registered and has an absentee ballot.

I don’t plan on giving this country back to these tribal idiots anytime soon. It’s store policy – no returns.

THE BULLSHIT TSUNAMI

I’ve been trying to understand the Trump voter better. I know, waste of time. Their candidate, and most of them, just fans the flames of anger and divisiveness.

Why is that? It started over 20 years ago, when the republicans won control of Congress. "To truly achieve the level of change we want, we have to have control," Newt Gingrich said.

How’d that work out? The institution of trade polices that allowed their cronie-capitalist friends to accumulate ever more wealth while the rest of us are left in the dust. I’m not anti-trade; I’m pro fair trade – trade that protects American jobs.

Tax policy? It’s voodoo economic theory. It’s never, ever been successful! Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman warned us about their plan. However, the real threat to America lies deep within their thinking.

Have you ever listened to Ted Cruz? I know, its hard, but try. He professes to be an original intent brand of the Constitutionalist.

Original intent? Sorry, there’s a shovel full on top of Bullshit Mountain. They like term limits, except when it limits them. They like the original intent, but now Cruz thinks there should be limited terms on the Supreme Court. Reminder – the original intent of lifetime appointments was to eliminate transient political influence on the court.

Listening to the speech Marco Rubio gave on the eve of Super Tuesday 3, it struck me how they phony they really are. May God bless the conservative movement - horseshit! The liberals aren’t your enemy. This is not good vs. evil. Marco, this is why you lost - try reading Mathew 5:44 and put that message into your heart.

Yeah, we’re in the middle of a Tsunami, a bullshit tsunami. The GOP has done a great job of churning the water so all the crap comes to the surface. What I learned this week in talking to the Trump supporter is that they’re angry – and love, compassion, and empathy are things they boldly mock. So Bye-bye Little Marco, maybe you should show up for work now and do what Florida voters elected you to do.

PBS EXPOSES WHITE SUPREMACISTS CONNECTION TO CLOWNSTICK

TRUMP FOLLOWER AND WHITE SUPREMACIST GRACE TILLY

A 33-year-old [Fuckface Von Clownstick]Donald Trump campaign volunteer in North Carolina featured as part of a PBS Newshour report on Tuesday was wearing tattoos associated with white supremacists, Gawker reported.

The story, which aired on Tuesday, focused on Grace Tilly and her family, and shows both her and her 11-year-old son phone-banking for the Republican front-runner.
“I definitely think, with Trump’s business savvy, his mind, I think that he’s going to be the best one that’s going to be able to help us,” she tells PBS. “Our family has been impacted in a very big way by the recession. We definitely at times are living paycheck to paycheck. And my husband is having hard time finding work as well.”
VIDEO COURTESY OF PBS

Unfortunately the report does not mention the two tattoos seen on her hand: a stylized version of the Celtic Cross called “Odin’s Cross,” which the Anti-Defamation League said “has become one of the most popular white supremacist symbols around,” as well as a stylized version of the number 88, which the League has identified as “a white supremacist numerical code for ‘Heil Hitler.'”

The lone reference to race in the report comes after the family is seen at a March 9 rally while a protester is removed from the event.
“All these protesters and all this stuff, and people saying he’s racist, and then the Black Lives Matter, you know what? Red lives matter,” says her father-in-law, Pete Tilly. “Because when you bleed, we all bleed red.”
White supremacist groups have sent “robocalls” on behalf of Clownstick, who won the state’s Republican primary on Tuesday, and have also publicly thanked Trump for spotlighting their views.

CLOWNSTICK NOT A WOMAN HATING MANNIAC - HE JUST PLAYS ONE ON TV

Fuckface Von Clownstick spokeswoman Katrina Pierson gave an interesting reply Tuesday to a new ad from an anti-Trump conservative super PAC, which featured women reading back offensive things The Donald has said about many different women over the years.

“I really don’t think this is gonna be a problem. A lot of those statements are what Mr. Trump made as a television character,” Pierson said, during an appearance on Fox News. “So I don’t think that some of that is gonna stick. Again, everyone knows who Mr. Trump is — that’s why they’re having a very hard time, spending hundreds of millions trying to redefine who Mr. Trump is.”
Reality is, at least two of those quotes are from Real Donald Trump the candidate. (One of them was about Megyn Kelly, and the other about Carly Fiorina.)

Real Donald Trump said:
“There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her — wherever,” regarding Megyn Kelly at the first Fox News debate; and of Carly Fiorina, “Look at that face — would anyone vote for that?”

REAL DONALD TRUMP QUOTES ABOUT WOMEN

A new ad from Our Principles PAC goes after Donald Trump for his long history of offensive comments about women.

In this case, however, rather than the cool voice of a narrator reading out his comments, different on-screen women repeat his comments with varying degrees of ire in their voices.
“Real quotes from Donald Trump about women,” a woman says as an introduction.
They read out quotes from Trump referring to women with such terms as “bimbo,” “fat pig,” and “dog.”
“A person who is very flat-chested is very hard to be a ’10,’” a woman quotes Trump saying.
Past remarks Trump made about Carly Fiorina, Megyn Kelly, and Princess Diana that referred disparagingly to, respectively, their face, menstrual cycle and psyche all are included as well:
“I like kids. I mean, I won’t do anything to take care of them. I’ll supply funds, and she’ll take care of the kids.”
“You know, it really doesn’t matter what they write, as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”
“That must be a pretty picture. You dropping to your knees.”
“Women. You have to treat them like shit.”
“This is how Donald Trump talks about our mothers, our sisters, our daughters,” the ad concludes. “If you believe America deserves better, vote against Donald Trump.”
Trump leads the GOP field in delegates heading into the next critical round of primaries on Tuesday, where key states including Florida and Ohio will make their decisions.

SANDERS CALLS CLOWNSTICK A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders bitch slapped [Fuckface Von Clownstick] Donald Trump during the CNN town hall meeting last night, calling the GOP front-runner “a pathological liar” which drew a boisterous applause form the crowd.

Sanders went on to say:

"Our campaign does not believe in and never will encourage anybody to disrupt anything. We have millions of supporters, and people do what they do, and people have the right to protest. I happen not to believe that people should disrupt anybody’s meetings, but let me say something about Mr. Trump. Some of you may have read just a few hours ago that Mr. Trump said that he is prepared to pay for the legal costs of an individual who sucker-punched somebody at a recent event. He is going to pay the legal fees of somebody who committed a terrible act of violence. What that means is that Donald Trump is literally inciting violence with his supporters. He is saying if you go out to beat somebody up, that is okay, I’ll pay the legal fees. That is an outrage and I would hope that Mr. Trump tones it down big time and tells his supporters that violence is not acceptable in the American political process."

Trump, to this hour, blames everyone but himself for the violence and anger at his rallies. This is the Clownstick we've come to learn and love, once an asshat, always an asshat.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH MEET FREEDOM TO ASSEMBLE

VIDEO COURTESY OF MSNBC FREE SPEECH MEETS FREEDOM TO ASSEMBLE

Rachel Maddow argued on Friday that the unrest surrounding [Fuckface Von Clownstick's]
Donald Trump’s cancelled campaign rally in Chicago has its roots in political science.
“When you look at the way that Mr. Trump has been talking about the organic existence of both protesters against him and violence toward those protesters at his event, when you look at the way that he has encouraged it in an escalating way leading to this inevitable event tonight in Chicago, I think that it is impossible to say that this is an accident,” she said.
Trump said the rally was canceled because of concerns over attendees’ safety while also claiming that he did not mean to provoke violence at his events. But local police said in a statement on Friday night that they neither told him there was a safety issue inside the venue at the University of Illinois-Chicago nor that he should postpone the rally.

Wing nut front-runners’ remarks also run counter to documented instances where his supporters have attacked non-violent demonstrators. Maddow said Trump’s rhetoric matches “a classic strong man political tactic” more commonly seen in other countries.
“Violence at these events, which may start organically, is in effect spot lit and encouraged to the point where it becomes something that is legitimately out of control of anyone,” she explained. “And then the spectacle of political violence is itself seen as something that is a problem that needs to be solved by this strongman character who incited the initial event in the first place.”

FUCKFACE VON CLOWNSTICK DOUBLES DOWN AT VIOLENCE AT RALLIES

A day after a black man was punched in the face by a white Donald Trump rally attendee and then wrestled to the ground by police officers, Trump shrugged off any responsibility and expressed sympathy for the anger his supports feel.

Asked at Thursday’s Republican debate whether he might have created a tone of violence, Trump responded “I hope not. I truly hope not.” While saying he has not condoned violence against protesters, he defended his supporters as having “tremendous passion.”
“When they see protesters, when they see what’s going in on the country, they have anger. They don’t like seeing bad trade deals, higher taxes, loss of their jobs.”
Violence by Trump supporters has been a recurring issue at his campaign events.

Moderator Jake Tapper noted that Trump has frequently egged on his supporters, “including February 23: ‘I’d like to punch him in the face,’ referring to a protester. February 27: ‘In the good ol’ days, they’d have knocked him out of seat so fast.’ February 1: ‘Knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, okay? Just knock the hell.” He also noted that Trump promised last month to pay for the legal fees of any supporter who roughs up a protester.
“We have some protesters who are bad dudes, they have done bad things,” Trump replied, “They are swinging, they are really dangerous and they get in there and start hitting people. And we had a couple big, strong, powerful guys doing damage to people — not only the loudness, the loudness I don’t mind. But doing serious damage.”

This is a prime example, the by-product if you will of low IQ humans listening to the daily red met bullshit of Fuckface Von Clownstick. For Trump to not condone this stuff, garners him asshole of the day.

Congrats numb-nuts, enjoy, you earned it!

CLOWNSTICK GOON ROUGHS UP REPORTER

Fuckface Von Clownstick campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is under fire for getting rough with a female reporter.

The Daily Caller’s Jamie Weinstein took to Twitter on Tuesday night to report that his girlfriend, Breitbart’s Michelle Fields, was grabbed by the arm and almost taken to the ground by Clownstick’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski at a press event in Florida.

Weinstein says the incident happened when Fields tried to ask Trump a tough question.

An unnamed witness corroborates Weinstein’s account, according to Politico.
“Fields was attempting to ask Trump a question as he exited the press conference. Secret Service was starting to clear a path, when Fields was forcibly grabbed on her arm by Lewandowski, moving her out of the way and nearly bringing her down to the ground, a source who witnessed the situation told POLITICO.”
The witness told Politico that Fields was “clearly roughed up.”

Breitbart, a politically conservative website, has been overwhelmingly supportive of Trump. Unnamed sources from inside the organization even complained to Buzzfeed in August that they believed Trump was giving money to the publication in exchange for glowing coverage.

In a statement, Breitbart CEO Larry Solov called the incident “unacceptable” and said “Corey owes Michelle an immediate apology.”

Fields isn’t the only female reporter to be mistreated by Clownstick and his staffers. Trump initiated an ongoing campaign against Fox’s Megyn Kelly after she asked him pointed questions at the first GOP debate.

Last month, TIME photojournalist Chris Morris was put in a choke hold and thrown to the ground by a Secret Service agent in an incident that is under investigation.

OLBERMANN IS BACK, IF ONLY FOR A BRIEF MOMENT TO DESTROY CLOWNSTICK

Keith Olbermann blistered [Fuckface Von Clownstick] Donald Trump in a column for the Washington Post on Tuesday, portraying him as being oblivious when it came to being a landlord, let alone a presidential candidate.
“Take away the un-mappable comb-over and the unstoppable mouth and the Freudian-rich debates about genitalia, and there is no Trump campaign,” Olbermann wrote. “Donald Trump’s few forays into actual issues suggest he is startlingly unaware of how the presidency or even ordinary governance works.”
Olbermann stated that he was moving out of a Trump-owned building in New York City after nine years out of the feeling that the Republican presidential candidate’s very name has “degraded the public discourse and the nation itself.”

Olbermann pointed to a University of Massachusetts at Amherst study showing that the real estate magnate won the heaviest support from Republican voters with “authoritarian inclinations.”
“There could still be enough idiots to elect Trump this November. Hell, I was stupid enough to move into one of his buildings,” Olbermann wrote.
Olbermann added that Trump’s lackadaisical nature; according to Olbermann, it took months for his staff to complete the repairs when his building’s elevator broke down, as well as several heating units.

Olbermann said:
“If there is a President Trump and he decides to build this ludicrous wall to prevent the immigration from Mexico that isn’t happening, and he uses that same contractor, it’ll take them about a thousand years to finish it,”
If only Olbermann could find a venue that suited him full time, his daily slamming of the green slimy two toed sloth [GOP] is greatly missed, especially by this blogger.

COMEDY CENTRAL’S TREVOR NOAH SAYS TRUMP’S DICK IS HUGE AND HE’S USING IT TO FUCK THE GOP

Trevor Noah attempted on Monday night to settle the “great debate” regarding Donald Trump’s penis.
“I’ve gotta say, personally? I think it’s huge,” Noah said. “After all, he’s using it to fuck the entire Republican Party.”
Noah showed footage of last week’s Republican candidate debate in Detroit, during which Trump “reassured the American public” regarding his genitalia following a swipe by Sen. Marco Rubio.
“The thing that people don’t actually know is, it’s someone else’s huge penis and Trump just licenses his name on it,” said Noah.
But Sen. Ted Cruz’s victories in Kansas and Maine over the weekend, Noah argued, showed that Trump was “more of a grower than a shower.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF COMEDY CENTRAL

Still, Republicans at this point are “praying for chaos” and hoping Trump’s rivals can hang on as long as possible in an effort to stop him from accumulating enough delegates from cinching the party’s presidential nomination. Noah pointed out that Rubio and his staff are working on a plan to upend Trump at the Republican National Convention if possible.
“Ah, democracy — where every vote counts,” Noah sighed. “As long as that vote doesn’t go against the people who actually control the party, in which case they will disregard your vote, replace it with their vote — and then, every vote will count.”

BERN AFTER READING

It’s hard not to enjoy the show and watch the GOP eat their own. Reagan must be spinning in his grave as his 11th Commandment is broken, shredded, stomped upon and burned. It sets up the Democrats for a slam-dunk this fall. However, we should watch carefully and with caution because our opportunity could turn on a dime.

Bernie has tapped into the same angst on the left that Trump has on the far right. Lets face it, we all know and agree with Bernie’s message – the system is rigged, the game’s not fair and the little guy is always going to get screwed if someone doesn’t look out for his interests. Luckily we have Hillary to do that.

Hillary needs to be louder and prouder! Show us one more time what we know she’s capable of - great leadership. I learned long ago there’s no such thing as a free lunch. I just want fair opportunity for success and I like having a safety net to protect patriots like us from hard times – like when bankers trash the world economy.

We just don’t need to win this fall – we need to win big – like 48 states big. We need turn out to match 2008. Why? Because we need to send a message to the Trump trolls that we’re taking our country further away from them. Their ideology is an epic fail!

The GOP paints us Dems as fools – looking for free stuff, weak on crime and national defense, and godless. Why do we take that crap? We have the greatest military in the world. Its not about troop levels its about being battlefield efficient. We don’t need troop levels from WWII.

Bernie lit the fire and Hillary needs to stoke more!

How many times do we need to read about industry needing more H1-B visa? Where’s the investment in our own workers? Why wont these companies hire and train the millions of displaced high tech workers?

They tell us that our educational system is weak and our schools aren’t preparing kids for jobs? Why don’t these fools want to invest in their future workers/consumers?

Hold up the mirror so folks see these phonies for what they accuse Trump of being – business morons, weak on Foreign Policy with ineffective wars – dishonest and a bunch of liars.

The GOP establishment wants it cheap and easy. They don’t want to invest in America, they want to frack America! That’s why Trump really is the perfect metaphor for what they really are.

Eight years ago I was excited to think we were on the brink of 16 years with a Democrat in the Oval Office. I’m even more excited to think it could be 24 – now lets deliver this. Time to pay it FORWARD.

FAUSTIAN DEAL WITH THE RACIST DEVIL

Bill Maher said on Friday that he almost felt bad for the Republican Party with regards to Donald Trump — except he doesn't.
“They made a Faustian deal with the racist devil years ago and now those chickens are coming home to roost,” he said of the party bracing for the prospect of having Trump as its presidential nominee, while also mocking House Speaker Paul Ryan for claiming that the GOP “does not prey on peoples’ prejudices.”
“What about voter ID laws?” Maher asked. “What about once defending the guy who gets shot, the black guy, instead of the cop. Who are they kidding? This is the party they are and Trump is just the latest.”
Conservative author Matt Lewis tried to argue that Trump did not represent the party as a whole, pointing to Ryan, Sen. Marco Rubio and himself as people who represent a “solutions-based” conservative philosophy.

VIDEO COURTESY OF HBO

Trump, Lewis said, was the product of a dumbing down of the GOP, who had injected “white identity politics” into his platform.

Maher scoffed at Lewis’ argument, saying that Trump’s ideas are actually “very not new.”
“It was called the Southern Strategy when Nixon did it,” Maher argued. “Reagan started his campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi. It’s always been a winking campaign to get white people, mostly, who have a resentment to vote racially. Let’s not pretend this is new.”
“I would say that the Republican Party — at least if you look at the people who are running for president — are much more diverse,” Lewis fired back.

“The two Hispanics want to put other Hispanics on cattle carts and throw them out of the country,” Maher replied.

ROMNEY THROTTLES CLOWNSTICK

Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee four years ago, attempted to eviscerate Donald Trump on Thursday in an 18-minute speech that questioned the GOP front-runner's temperament, intelligence and honesty.

It was a sober, direct attack — tougher than Trump has faced from any other Republican in this campaign.

But tucked in Romney's takedown was a shaky path forward. He didn't endorse any of the other three Republicans in the race — Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz or Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Romney instead said he would vote for anyone who could beat Trump in any state, essentially a route that he hopes would lead to a rare brokered convention, where Republicans could try to wrestle away the nomination from Trump.

He also hoped the remaining candidates can coordinate into an anyone-but-Trump brigade.

He questioned Trump's temperament, reminding the crowd that the GOP front-runner mocked a disabled reporter, attributed Fox News' Megyn Kelly's tough questions to her menstrual cycle and bragged about his marital affairs.

Romney questioned Trump's sincerity, suggesting that the candidate has changed positions — or at least hinted that he's willing to — on issues such as immigration and releasing his tax returns.

Romney said he understood the anger felt by American voters and that presidents have previously channeled such anger into purpose.
"Mr. Trump is directing our anger for less-than-noble purposes. He creates scapegoats of Muslims and Mexican immigrants. He calls for the use of torture and for killing the innocent children and family members of terrorists. He cheers assaults on protesters. He applauds the prospect of twisting the Constitution to limit First Amendment freedom of the press," he said. "This is the very brand of anger that has led other nations into the abyss."
The 64 thousand dollar question will be if Romney's remarks or any move by members of the Republican establishment will blunt Trump's momentum. Hinckley Institute Director Jason Perry said polls show Trump voters "are locked," but he noted there remains a slim chance to stop the front-runner.

Romney's speech followed Twitter sniping with Trump in which he suggested there was a "bombshell" in Trump's tax returns. Perry said those clashes led Romney to try a more direct assault and helped to draw attention to the speech.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND TRUMP, GOP DENIES THEM BOTH

Trevor Noah explained on Wednesday that he came to two realizations while watching primary results come in a night earlier.

“People are batshit crazy,” Noah said. “And also, a lot of Republicans are treating Donald Trump’s takeover the way they treat climate change — in other words, they deny it.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF COMEDY CENTRAL

To substantiate his position, Noah showed Sen. Marco Rubio’s attempt to somehow spin Trump’s seven wins on Super Tuesday into a positive for himself. Noah went on to say:
“Like antibiotic-resistant bacteria, Donald Trump is an uncomfortable reality,”
Noah also laughed at Sen. Ted Cruz for insisting that winning four out of 15 contests thus far made him the party’s only viable challenger against the real estate magnate.
“You’re not co-winners, Ted Cruz,” Noah said. “Just the way he says it: ‘Every one of those states has been won by Donald Trump or myself … And if you look at myself and Jay-Z combined, we have both slept with Beyoncé on numerous occasions, and that is why I will stop Obama.'”
The saddest part of the whole affair, he said, was that political climate change and its environmental counterpart shared one characteristic.

“Regardless of whose fault it is, Republican denial is going to end up hurting all of us,” Noah said.

THE RISE OF THE 6TH GRADE BULLY

It hit me right after the last republican debate the other night– these guys are just the like bullies I knew in middle school! Donald on Cruz “He’s a liar” Cruz on Trump “..who the heck knows what he would do? Even Donald doesn’t know what he would do.”

Trump on Rubio:
“Little Marco, applies makeup with a trowel” then mocks him for needing to drink water and sweating too much”.
Back and forth, round and round. Robot Rubio, The spray tan Donald. Hair force one. Sorry, I know, lame ass (but true) puns. Remember the playground from 6th grade? Sound familiar? Testosterone was just starting. Fart joke, butt jokes, and yes…dick jokes.

So it came as a real surprise that the worst attack that followed days later was by Marco Rubio…”the Donald is 6’ 2’ and did you see his hands? They’re so small….you know what they say about men with small hands”

Yep, he went there. Are you kidding me GOP? This is your new “anointed one”. This first class a-hole just showed us how immature he really is. The same Florida senator who said, appearing on Fox and Friends back last June:
“We already have a president now that has no class. We have a president now that, you know, does selfie stick videos, that invites YouTube stars there, you know, people who eat cereal out of a bathtub.”
Calling him unfit to be President? Bingo Marco – You aren’t either; by your own standards no less! These morons can’t get out of their own way!

Then there’s Religious Liberty. Gov. Kasich went further than any of his rivals in dismissing — even belittling — the idea that businesses should be able to claim religious liberty and allow them not to cater to gay and lesbian couples.
“Tomorrow, maybe I won’t sell to somebody who’s divorced,” Mr. Kasich said, his voice rising.
“If you’re in the business of commerce, conduct commerce. That’s my view. And if you don’t agree with their lifestyle, say a prayer for them when they leave.”
Deafening silence fell across the stage. Republican talking heads almost exploded with that position the following day

With most republicans I know, they are ready for Rubio to be the prom king. So let’s play out the Marco campaign – Shouts from the floor in Cleveland – MARCO!...(from the far side of the arena) RUBIO. MARCO! RUBIO! I wonder, am I at another 6th grade pool party? Maybe Marco will invite all to play a game of stickball.

Your unfriendly neighborhood Tea bagger – he wants Trump. I kind of feel bad for The Donald. He’s been taking it on the chin, feigning not knowing who David Duke was, or having earpiece issues about why he should decline the white supremacy endorsement, So let’s give them a winning hashtag for the rest of the campaign - #feeltheorangeburn

“TAKE RESPONISBILITY FOR THE MOUTHPIECE”

Stephen Colbert said Donald Trump failed the easiest political test of all when he fumbled a chance to disavow the Ku Klux Klan and arguably its most famous former leader.

The Republican presidential candidate told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he would need to do more research on the KKK or its former grand dragon, who said he’s backing Trump in the election.
“Trump needs to know before condemning David Duke or the KKK — it’s not like they’re Muslim or born in Mexico,” Colbert said.
The “Late Show” host said he’d previously offered advice to Hillary Clinton on admitting to accusations of lying by apologizing — which Colbert said was “the easiest question in politics.”

However, Colbert said he was wrong to say that.
“This is the easiest question in American politics,” he said, pointing to onscreen graphics of Duke and a hooded Klan member. “When someone asks you, do you disavow the Ku Klux Klan, just say yes and start high-fiving your future cabinet.”

Colbert said he could understand waiting until the end of the sentence before disavowing anyone, but he said an interviewer needs only to reach “Ku Klux” before a candidate can safely issue a condemnation.
“You know what’s coming next,” he said. “It’s not going to be Ku Klux Crispies or Ku Klux Crunch Wrap.”
Colbert said the real estate tycoon and reality TV star later offered an excuse for his hesitation, blaming a “very bad earpiece” for a misunderstanding of the question.
“He blames this one on the earpiece, but I think he should take some responsibility for the mouthpiece — also, maybe the hairpiece,” he said.

CLOWNSTICK INVOKES STUPID ON DAVID DUKE PAST

Two days after disavowing an endorsement from David Duke, [Fuckface Von Clownstick] Donald Trump suggested Sunday that he doesn’t know anything about the former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard. But that was not his tune back in 2000.

“I disavow it, OK,” he said on Friday when asked about Duke urging white supremacists to support his campaign.

But in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s State of the Union, Trump declined to unequivocally condemn the racism of Duke or disavow the support of white supremacists. Instead, he feigned ignorance.
“Well, just so you understand, I don’t anything about David Duke, OK? I don’t even know anything about what you’re talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. Did he endorse me, or what’s going on? I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists,” Trump told Tapper.

VIDEO COURTESY OF CNN

Trump does know who David Duke is, however. In 2000, when he said he would not seek the Reform Party nomination, Trump said that the party was too splintered to successfully back a presidential candidate.
“As you know, the Reform Party has got some pretty big problems,” Trump said on World News Now in 2000. “Not the least of which is Pat Buchanan, David Duke, Fulani, and it’s a problem.”
Trump also wrote in the New York Times, “Although I am totally comfortable with the people in the New York Independence Party, I leave the Reform Party to David Duke, Pat Buchanan and Lenora Fulani. That is not company I wish to keep.”

Tapper rephrased the question and tried again but Trump said he “had to look at the group” and asked for a list of the white supremacist groups. When he asked Trump specifically about the Ku Klux Klan, Trump simply repeated that he had never heard of or met Duke.

Although Duke first supported Trump in August, he asked supporters to volunteer on Wednesday. Duke said, “get off your duff … call Donald Trump’s headquarters, volunteer. They’re screaming for volunteers,” according to the New Orleans Advocate.

"BAT SHIT CRAZY"

Pushing back at the internal fighting that has morphed from within the Republican Party over the 2016 GOP nomination, a Clownstick [Trump] supporter got a bit carried away and blurted “We have gone bat shit,” live on CNN Saturday

Appearing during a panel discussion on CNN, radio host Scottie Nell Hughes was visibly aggravated by Thursday’s GOP debate that saw candidates Donald Trump, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz standing on the stage yelling at each other while CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer stood helplessly by.

VIDEO COURTESY OF CNN

Saying Rubio had pledged to not attack Clownstick, Hughes was dismayed by the change in tactics by the Florida senator during the debate.
“In 24 hours we see the most rabid frothing politician that I’ve seen yet,” she explained. “Spewing nothing but lies from him that night.”
Asked ” What does that do to the party?” Hughes went off on a rant that found her swearing on live TV — which she realized seconds after her outburst as the other guests laughed.
“It absolutely destroys our party,” she exclaimed. “I think both of those politicians — Governor Christie and Senator Graham are right. We have gone bat shit.”

CLOWNSTICK'S CRASS WARFARE

Bill Maher closed out his show last night by undermining [Fuckface Von Clownstick] Donald Trump’s complaints over the use of foul language by former Mexican President Vicente Fox.

“Talk about the pot calling the kettle orange,” Maher quipped, before showing a barrage of clips of the Republican presidential front-runner cursing during various public speeches.

VIDEO COURTESY OF HBO

The feud between Trump and Fox began on Thursday when Fox denounced Trump’s oft-stated promise that, should he be elected president, he would make Mexico pay for the construction of an elaborate wall along the US-Mexico border. Fox said during an interview, “I am not going to pay for that fucking wall,” and doubled down on the statement on Friday after Trump demanded an apology.

However, Maher said, the rise of “Andrew Dice Trump” in the race revealed that voters are enjoying his coarse brand of speaking.

“They kind of like it when a politician drops the facade and talks the way we all really talk,” he explained.

Maher then staged his own State of the Union address — an illustration, he said, of where the shifting tone in political discourse could go. Casting himself as the president in the scene, he quickly announced that “the state of our union is fucking awesome.”

CLOWNSTICK AND HIS UNEDUCATE FOLLOWERS

After winning the Nevada Republican caucuses, [Fuckface Von Clownstick] Donald Trump used his victory speech to show his affection for the poorly educated among his fan base.
“We won the evangelicals,” Trump said. “We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated; I love the poorly educated.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF ABC

In response, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel unveiled a totally fake, but pretty spot-on campaign ad created by Trump’s uneducated—and proud of it!—supporters.

These champions of Trump believe the U.S. needs a “leeder,” a president who will take on the “terists,” and lock down the “Mexico/Merica” border.

Sure, it’s a gag, but with 20 percent of Trump backers going on record with their belief that slavery was a good thing this country gave up on way too soon, it’s probably not so far off the mark.

PRIEBUS DENIES PARTY IS IN SHAMBLES

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus insisted to CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on Wednesday that his party was not fracturing over the popularity of Fuckface Von Clownstick [Donald J. Trump].

Following Clownstick’s Tuesday win in the Nevada caucuses, Camerota asked Priebus if it was time for the entire GOP to embrace the frontrunner.
“I embrace all of these candidates,” Priebus said. “There folks are competing to join us. They are competing to join the Republican Party as our nominee depending on what the delegates decide to do or who wins the requisite amount of delegates.”
“In Cleveland, we’re going to vote on the floor for who that nominee is,” he continued. “That nominee joins the Republican Party. That’s what’s happening.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF CNN

“But you’re making it sound simpler than, in fact, it is,” Camerota pointed out.
“Because as we have heard time and again over the past few weeks, there is a whole chunk of the Republican establishment that is not embracing Clownstick. In fact, they’re rejecting him. We have heard about all of the big donors, all of the Republican Party elders, all of the people in Congress who are basically saying anyone but Clownstick.”
“You can’t pretend that there’s not a large chunk of the Republican Party that doesn’t want Clownstick,” the CNN host charged.
“And it’s a big party,” Priebus replied. “We’re in great shape to win in November. But yeah, we have drama, there’s some intrigue going on in our party. But there’s intrigue going on the other side too.”

DOUBLING DOWN, CLOWNSTICK SAYS: “I COULD MURDER SOMEONE IN COLD BLOOD AND STILL LEAD THE GOP CANDIDATE FIELD”.

Fuckface Von Clownstick again on Tuesday said he could murder people and his supporters would stay loyal.

Last month, the GOP front runner and real estate mogul said he could shoot someone in cold blood and he would maintain his lead with voters.
“They say I have the most loyal people,” Clownstick said in January, “Where I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters, okay? It’s like incredible.”

On Tuesday, during a pre-caucus rally in Nevada, Clownstick repeated his claim that he could kill someone without consequence, at least in the polls.
“Sixty-eight percent,” he said, “would not leave under any circumstance. I think that means murder, I think it means anything, okay?”

GUILTY COP BLAMES VICTIM IN HIS OWN DEATH

Days after becoming the first New York police officer found guilty of an on-duty shooting in more than a decade, Officer Peter Liang claims he is not responsible for Akai Gurley’s death. Responding to a $50 million lawsuit filed over a year ago by the mother of Gurley’s child, Kimberly Ballinger, Liang and his former partner have filed court papers that blame the shooting on Gurley.

Liang shot Gurley in the chest while the 28-year-old victim was walking down a dark stairwell. Liang, who maintains his gun “just went off,” fired when he heard a noise. Neither he nor his former partner, Officer Shaun Landau, administered CPR. Melissa Butler, Gurley’s girlfriend at the time, said Liang walked away without offering any medical assistance.

Liang was ultimately convicted of second-degree manslaughter and officer misconduct, while Landau was fired from the NYPD.

But according to documents obtained by the New York Daily News, the two maintain that “the alleged incident and damages, if any, were wholly or in part caused by the culpable conduct.”

The language is standard for a wrongful death defense, but Ballinger still felt it was inappropriate in this case. “I can’t believe the police officers are trying to say that Akai did something to cause this wrongful shooting and his death, when all he did was try to walk down a public staircase,” she told the New York Daily News. In addition to the two officers, her wrongful death lawsuit also faults the city and the New York City Housing Authority.

Liang and Landau are currently represented by the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA).

“Since we are required to file an answer to the complaint prior to any discovery being conducted, without access to any investigatory reports, we would be remiss in our duty not to include such a cross claim in our answer, so that’s what we did,” their lawyer told the New York Daily News.

Gurley is far from the first person to be blamed for his own harm by law enforcement. At the time of Gurley’s death, the NYPD was also launching a public relations campaign to argue that Eric Garner, who died from an illegal chokehold by a police officer, was complicit in his own killing. Rank-and-file police officers and police union officials claimed that Garner resisted arrest and should not have been selling the illegal cigarettes that triggered the police encounter. Lawyers for the officer who used the illegal maneuver also said Garner had to be breathing in order to say “I can’t breathe.”

“What we did not hear from the mayor is that you can not go out and break the law. […] You cannot resist arrest,” PBA President Patrick Lynch said of Garner’s death. “We need to teach our children to respect police officers.”

CNN’S TAPPER CALLS BS ON TRUMP

CNN host Jake Tapper called out Donald Trump over the weekend for promising to win over African-American voters while republishing messages from white supremacists on Twitter.

On the Sunday edition of CNN’s State of the Union, Tapper pointed out that Republican Party officials were concerned that Trump would lose the general election because he could not win at least 30 percent of the non-white vote.
“A lot of Republican leaders in D.C. struggle to envision you accomplishing this, especially given that fact that there are white supremacists groups and individuals like that who support you, some of whom you’ve even retweeted,” Tapper noted.
“Well, that, I know nothing about,” Trump replied with a grimace. “I don’t now about retweeting. You retweet somebody and they turn out to be white supremacists. I know nothing about these groups that are supporting me.”

The billionaire candidate promised to “bring over a lot of Democrats.”
“The other thing is African-American voters, I think I’m going to get a tremendous amount,” Trump opined. “And you’ve seen the stories where African-American leaders are saying, ‘You know, my people really like Trump!'”
“Because I’m going to bring jobs back from China and Mexico and Japan and Vietnam and India and all these places,” he added. “I’m going to do great with the African-Americans.”

HE JUST CAN'T STOP THE BS

Fuckface Von Clownstick, again has made a big to-do about building a giant wall between the United States and Mexico, made a bizarre claim during his victory speech on Saturday.
“I have thousands and thousands of Hispanics… I lead with the Hispanics. I’m leading in every poll with Hispanics,” Clownstick said. “They love me, I love them.”
He then went on to accuse China of theft and other countries of taking advantage of the U.S. and promising to repeal Obamacare.

The real estate mogul beat out his rivals to win the South Carolina primary on Saturday with 33 percent of the votes, followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 22 percent. Ted Cruz came in third at 21.7 percent as of 6 p.m. Pacific. The contest saw rival Jeb Bush suspending his campaign.

Clownstick is in no way in a favorable position with Hispanic voters, according to The Hill. Over three-fourths of Hispanic Americans have an unfavorable opinion of him. Roughly 80 percent of that group view him unfavorably.

Clownstick also said during his speech that he would make Mexico pay for the wall he plans to build, a crowd-pleasing tactic he uses, according to the New York Times.

FUCKFACE VON CLOWNSTICK PEDDLES BULLSHIT STORY ABOUT U.S. GENERAL EXECUTING MUSLIMS WITH PIGS BLOOD BULLETS

As only this asshole can, Fuckface Von Clownstick [Donald J Trump] used a debunked story about US Gen. John Pershing supposedly executing Muslim prisoners to portray himself as being willing to pursue terrorists more aggressively, MSNBC reported on Friday.

Clownstick cited the story during a speech in Charleston, South Carolina, telling supporters they could “read it in the history books.” In fact, according to the fact-checking site Snopes.com, the story — as he presented it — originated online in 2001.

The real estate magnate said that Pershing ordered the execution of Muslim prisoners in the Philippines.
“He took 50 bullets, and he dipped them in pig’s blood,” Clownstick said. “And he had his men load his rifles and he lined up the 50 people, and they shot 49 of those people. And the 50th person he said ‘You go back to your people and you tell them what happened.’ And for 25 years there wasn’t a problem, OK?”
According to Snopes, the incident is not mentioned in biographies of Pershing. Other accounts of his actions while serving as governor for the country’s Moro Providence depict Pershing as wanting to minimize casualties and only threatening to use the “pig’s blood” punishment.

On Friday, Clownstick also returned to his criticism of water-boarding, which he has described as “minimal, minimal, minimal torture.”
“Can you imagine these people when they sit around at night, eating whatever they’re eating, and talking about the United States that they’re actually worried about waterboarding as being a little bit cruel?” Clownstick said. “And these people chop off heads. These people must think we are the dumbest and the weakest and the stupidest people on Earth.”

PORN MOGUL FLYNT SAYS DEATH OF SCALIA, “IT COULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED TO A NICER GUY”

Hustler porn mogul Larry Flynt may have scored a unanimous ruling from the Supreme Court in
Hustler v. Falwell but that doesn’t mean he’s a fan of deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. In an interview with Larry King on his RT.com show “PoliticKING,” the host asked how he felt about Scalia’s death given that Scalia was part of the vote in favor of Flynt in 1988.
“I don’t like to speak ill of someone that passed on,” Flynt began. “But it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. He’s done more damage to that court than any other human being in 250 years. He moved it to the right. This goes to the right of Attila the Hun. A lot of bad legislation come out of there that he was guiding. He was often the fifth vote and anyone will tell ya that 5-4 decisions make bad law ’cause you got four votes and then you got five votes to make the deciding factor just like Gore v. Bush it pushed the election in the 2000 campaign.”
Flynt went on to say that he prefers a more centrist judge on the court because it’s more reflective of America as a whole. “I don’t believe that this country is to the left or to that it’s to the right. And when it comes to the Supreme Court, they want fairness. They want somebody that is right down the middle. And I don’t know if we’ll get that but when Ronald Reagan was president at the end of his term, he nominated Kennedy with a democratic senate and they approved him.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF PoliticKING

He continued talking about the threats the GOP has been making to hold up the nomination regardless of who is nominated. Reiterating the concern of having a 4-4 split that defers to the lower court’s ruling, he said that it would be problematic in the Texas abortion case or on immigration.
“Both those could end up with a 4-4 split and the lower court decision would stand which would be bad.”
“I think they need to get someone in there they can all agree on and get him confirmed,” Flint said. “I think it could have ramifications that will really backfire if the Senate tries to hold that over.”

AS ONLY HE CAN

Glenn Beck; “God had to kill Antonin Scalia to help put Ted Cruz in the White House”.

Glenn Beck has been campaigning for Ted Cruz this week in South Carolina, so he hasn’t been able to keep up his radio schedule. He did take a moment to call in on Tuesday to talk about the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.

Beck’s co-host Pat Gray couldn’t understand why God wouldn’t allow Scalia to live on until the election had finished. According to Right Wing Watch, Beck swiftly called the show to explain that God’s motivation for taking the Justice had everything to do with Ted Cruz’s campaign for president. Evidently, Beck believes Scalia’s death will motivate Americans to elect him if they are faced with the haunting reality of a world without the Justice to fight for their liberty.

“I just woke the American people up,” Beck said, pretending to be the mind of God. “I took them out of the game show moment and woke enough of them up to say, ‘look at how close your liberty is to being lost. You now have lost your liberty. You replace one guy and you now have 5-4 decisions in the other direction. Just with this one guy, you’ve lost your liberty so you’d better elect somebody that is going to be somebody on the court because for the next 30 years, if you don’t, the Constitution as you know it is gone.'”
“The Constitution is hanging by a thread!” he proclaimed, repeating a line he has used on the stump. “That thread has just been cut and the only way that we survive now is if we have a true constitutionalist.”

Someone should make a montage of all these pro-Cruz videos from Beck after Cruz loses.

“OBSTRUCTIONIST”

GOPer falls out of line on party’s stance to stonewall Obama Supreme Court nominee.

Senate Republicans’ widespread vow to automatically block any Supreme Court nominee President Obama puts forth may be wavering.

Within minutes of Justice Antonin Scalia passing away on Saturday, Republicans declared that they would automatically block any replacement Obama would appoint during the 11 months he has left in office. Soon after, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced his intention to block any replacement until a new president takes office in 2017.

But a conservative senator from North Carolina is breaking with his colleagues and calling for the GOP to at least give consideration to a potential replacement.

Appearing on The Tyler Cralle Show on Tuesday morning, Sen. Thom Tillis cautioned against vowing to automatically block any nominee.
“I think we fall into the trap if just simply say sight unseen, we fall into the trap of being obstructionists,” Tillis said.
(relevant portion begins at 1:58):

Still, Tillis, who was elected to the Senate in 2014, did not sound like a man ready to vote a potential Obama nominee, even if he believes the person deserves a hearing. “If he puts forth someone that we think is in the mold of President Obama’s vision for America, then we’ll use every device available to block that nomination,” Tillis said. He advised the president to nominate someone who has “an almost identical resume and capabilities of Justice Scalia.”

Even so, the fact that a senator is willing to go against his party and say that Obama’s potential nominee deserves to be considered is a noteworthy break with the current Republican majority.

WHY A FULL ENSEMBLE IN THE SUPREME COURT IS A MUST

Rachel Maddow of MSNBC dismantled Republicans’ reasons on Monday for pushing to resist any Supreme Court nominations until after this year’s election.
“There are now eight justices on the United States Supreme Court, which requires nine justices, and we suddenly — in the midst of what is already a chaotic political season — have bumbled into what appears to be not yet a constitutional crisis, but right now a giant stress test for our democracy. We haven’t had a Supreme Court seat held open for a year in this country since the US Civil War,” she said, tapping her desk loudly for emphasis. “And the reason we had one held over then was because of the US Civil War. What’s the excuse now?”

VIDEO COURTESY OF MSNBC

The vacancy created by the sudden death of Associate Justice Antonin Scalia on Saturday, she said, was different by “an order of magnitude” from typical partisan disputes, yet Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and several GOP presidential candidates have already vowed to block any nominations President Barack Obama might submit to restore the high court to nine members.

“That is a position of almost unprecedented radicalism in American history and in American politics,” she argued.

To illustrate the importance of having a full court in place before the election, Maddow outlined a scenario in which this year’s contest could produce a tie in the Electoral College vote or a result so close it could produce a contested recount in one state.
“In an incredibly close election, that can happen,” she said. “And it’s all happening at the level of one state. But it puts the country, basically, into crisis. Because there’s this impasse as to how the election is gonna be decided. and that is hilarious and amazing and exciting on election night. But then you wake up the next morning and you realize there’s no pick.”
