Virginia's Version of "PERSONHOOD"

PERSONHOOD VIRGINNY STYLE
UPDATE: 2/16/12 13:28

"This isn't just a hard right turn. It's been a U turn to the right," said Sen. A. Donald McEachin, D-Henrico and chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus. "Just look at what they've done: Drug-testing welfare recipients, clearly something that's got no basis in fact but meant to reinforce a stereotype. And those voter suppression bills, and the personhood amendment."

It’s clear that the Virginia GOP Legislature is willing to prioritize extreme legislation that could jeopardize human dignity and basic human rights! Personhood, its something that these Virginian's evidentially missed during high school educational classes.

Maddow Video Should Have All Americans Pissed Off, Not Just Virginian's: I am going to let Rachael's' video do most of the talking.

**Maddow has promised us another section on this topic tonight -
once its posted we will publish as an update** West 2/15/12 17:50

I lied, see why this bill is just oh so wrong in oh so many, many ways:

Women in particular, me in general are sick and tired of old racist, radical, teapublican white men making law and decisions for women. Teaublicans say they want less government; but they don't mind government interfering with womens bodies, our homes and our bedrooms.

Personhood USA is a grassroots, Christian (sarcastic) organization founded to establish personhood efforts across America to create protection for every child by love and by law. Personhood USA is committed to assisting and supporting Personhood Legislation and Constitutional Amendments and building local pro-life organizations through raising awareness of the personhood of the preborn.

Who's The Person?

So that you understand teapublican "personhood":
“This bill requires every single code section in Virginia that uses the word ‘person’ to apply to a fetus,” said Del. Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond), a member of the Courts committee. “That opens families and doctors to a wide variety of criminal and civil lawsuits for health care decisions not only in cases of unwanted pregnancies, but every pregnancy and even miscarriage."
And why is this you ask?:

Let me be graphic here, whether you like it or not women, against your will, you shall have a " Forced Transvaginal ultrasound" on you in which: "Your fetus has fingernails … and we’re going to show them to you"!

" Forced Transvaginal ultrasound" is a type of pelvic ultrasound. It is used to look at a woman's reproductive organs, including the uterus, ovaries, cervix, and vagina. Transvaginal means across or through the vagina.

You will lie down on a table with your knees bent and feet in holders called stirrups. The health care provider will place a probe, called a transducer, into the vagina. The probe is covered with a condom and a gel. The probe sends out sound waves, which reflect off body structures. A computer receives these waves and uses them to create a picture. The doctor can immediately see the picture on a nearby TV monitor.

The health care provider will move the probe within the area to see the pelvic organs.

In some cases, a special transvaginal ultrasound method called saline infusion sonography (SIS), also called sonohysterography or hysterosonography, may be needed to more clearly view the uterus.

While conducting the test, the resulting images must be shown to the woman, even if she doesn’t want to see them, with the doctor pointing out salient details, like limbs, fingernails, and the heartbeat.

The woman retains the right to look away — but if she does, her eyes are likely to fall upon the result of further radical bills which - Require abortion signs in waiting rooms and consultation room that start off saying “Notice: It is against the law for anyone, regardless of his or her relationship to you, to force you to have the abortion.”

There’s a old piece on the Huffington Post — written by Dana Stone, who’s a doctor and fellow of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists — that does a good job of explaining why it’s egregious. For example: It forces women to have a procedure done that is not medically necessary (and since vaginal ultrasounds produce better pictures than abdominal ultrasounds in the early stages of pregnancy, this law would often require women to have additional medical instruments put inside them against their wishes). As such, it violates patients’ rights to refuse treatment or testing.

In most circles this "forcible rape" is called "the “Freedom of Conscience Act.” It is unclear whether they are referring to the doctors’ consciences (i.e., if you force the woman to have an ultrasound and she still wants an abortion, it’s not your fault) or the women’s (because clearly you must be free from a conscience if you decide to terminate a pregnancy).

Either way this Virginia bill is both disgusting and vile, and Virginian GOPers have sunk to a new low, a new low to which would even make Aleister Crowley proud!

I thought of proposing an alternate bill to these asshats in Richmond called the “Freedom to Not Have an Ultrasound Wand Stuck Up Your Vagina When It’s Not Medically Necessary and You Don’t Want It There” Act, and; there ought to be a bill titled, "if you can't bare a child, sit down and shut the f**k up!
