When Roger West first launched the progressive political blog "News From The Other Side" in May 2010, he could hardly have predicted the impact that his venture would have on the media and political debate. As the New Media emerged as a counterbalance to established media sources, Roger wrote his copious blogs about national politics, the tea party movement, mid-term elections, and the failings of the radical right to the vanguard of the New Media movement. Roger West's efforts as a leading blogger have tremendous reach. NFTOS has led the effort to bring accountability to mainstream media sources such as FOX NEWS, Breitbart's "Big Journalism. Roger's breadth of experience, engaging style, and cultivation of loyal readership - over 92 million visitors - give him unique insight into the past, present, and future of the New Media and political rhetoric that exists in our society today. Going Hungry in America.

The Food and Agriculture Org of the United States (FAO) estimates 1.02 billion humans in the world suffer from undernourishment.

In the United States hunger is often less severe than the clinical malnutrition found in developing countries. Although starvation is rare giving the availability of Federal assistance, millions of Americans face what the Government calls "food insecurity" - disruptions in eating patterns and reduced food intake due to adverse economic conditions.

During 2008 the latest year for which statistics are available, 14.6 percent of U.S. households experienced food insecurity, a substantial increase from 11.1 percent in 2007. The prevalence of food insecurity was particularly high among African Americans (25.7%) and Hispanic (26.9%)households.

The food stamp program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was renamed the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in 2008. More than 40 million humans in the United States (one in eight) received help from SNAP in March 2010 - seven million more than March 2009. A recent study in the archives of pediatrics and adolescent medicine found that 50 percent of U.S. children will live in households that receive support from SNAP before they reach the age of 20.

While the tea bag society would love for you to believe that these very hungry humans are the free loaders or the lazy of our society, for those whom live in reality we know this is unequivocally not true!

In 2008 under the DICKtatorship of Bush_Cheney 49.1 million humans in the United States, including 16.7 million children, experienced food insecurity. More than 20 percent of American children where food insecure at some time during the year. U.S. hunger levels in 2008 where highest since 1995, the first year in which the Dept. of Agriculture conducted it's annual survey.

This blog points a very derelict administration at best. While NFTOS doubts this situation is any better under the current administration we as Americans can not sit idly by any longer and allow our own to miss any meals. What a travesty for the "number one country in the world" to have families whom have to choose whether to pay rent or electricity or to feed their families. This is neither a 'red"or "blue", dem v rep issue. This is a "United States issue" that needs attention now. Vital learning skills for our kids requires 3 squares a day!

Step up folks, "service before self" should be a mandatory requirement to aid the food insecurity in our Homeland!
