MAHER BARBS AT NUTTERS URGING THE DANGEROUS BUFFOON IS YOUR PROBLEM

Bill Maher last night said political correctness may be out of control, but conservatives can’t use that as an excuse to blame liberals for Donald Trump [AKA John Miller].
“I’ve ridiculed liberals for everything from offensive Halloween costumes to Islamophobia; from the self-esteem movement to college campuses forgetting what free speech is,” Maher said during his “New Rules” segment. “But none of that justifies embracing a dangerous buffoon simply because his lack of political correctness is cathartic. Trump is your problem. But somehow the ‘party of personal responsibility’ doesn’t want to take responsibility for this one.”
Maher pointed out an increase in op-eds arguing that Trump’s rise to become the apparent GOP presidential nominee was fueled in part by liberal “smugness” alienating otherwise moderate voters.

VIDEO COURTESY OF HBO

“That is their thesis — that Trump voters are perfectly nice if left alone, like raccoons,” he observed. “They just want to eat garbage and crap in your hot tub.”
In reality, he argued, conservatives just get upset whenever they’re confronted with evidence that things like homosexuality, racism, or global warming are real.
“Here’s the thing: you guys were wrong about all that,” Maher said. “Really — check the climate science. Check the dashboard camera on the police car. Check your pastor’s Internet history.”
Which ever alter ego Trump is today conservatives "John Miller", "John Barron", Fuckface Von Clownstick, Donald J. Trump is all you. Own it.

CLOWNSTICK'S FORMER BUTLER URGES KILLING OF OBAMA?

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s former butler over a Facebook post calling for President Barack Obama’s assassination.

The former butler, Anthony Senecal, 74, said in a Facebook post Obama should be hanged for treason. He made the statement in 2015, and the magazine Mother Jones wrote on Thursday about the post and other similar remarks by Senecal. Senecal worked for decades as a butler at Trump’s Palm Beach mansion, Mar-a-Lago.

After reports of Senecal’s comments began to circulate, the Secret Service said in a statement, “The U.S. Secret Service is aware of this matter and will conduct the appropriate investigation.”

The story broke as Trump, whose proposals to ban Muslims from entering the United States and build a wall along the Mexican border have drawn heavy criticism, concluded a charm offensive on Capitol Hill. He attended a series of meetings there on Thursday with Republican lawmakers to try to win the party establishment’s support for his candidacy.

Senecal has not served as a butler to the billionaire candidate since 2009, but he was identified in a March 15 profile in the New York Times as a current employee of Mar-a-Lago, serving as the estate’s historian.

Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for Trump, said in a statement, “Senecal has not worked at Mar-a-Lago for years, but nevertheless we totally and completely disavow the horrible statements made by him regarding the president.”

She declined to comment on the Times report about Senecal’s recent role. Senecal did not respond to a call seeking comment and could not be reached by email.
“It is time for our Military to drag that fraud out of the white mosque and hang his ass for treason and other high crimes against AMERICA !!!!!!!” Senecal wrote on Sept. 13, 2015, in reference to Obama.
Mother Jones reached Senecal on Thursday. The magazine reported that Senecal said of his Facebook comments, including a private comment on Wednesday in which he said Obama should be shot: “I wrote that. I believe that.”

REMEMBER GEORGE ZIMMERMAN? YEAP, HE'S STILL A DICK

Major dickhead and murderer George Zimmerman is auctioning off the gun he says he used to shoot and kill 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in 2012, Mediaite reported on Wednesday.
“I’m a free American,” Zimmerman said of his decision. “I can do what I like with my possessions.”
The online auction is set to begin on Thursday morning, a year to the day after he was injured in a dispute with Matthew Apperson, who Zimmerman described as being a Black Lives Matter “sympathizer.”

“I am proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds will be used to: fight BLM violence against Law Enforcement officers, ensure the demise of Angela Correy’s persecution career and Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric,” Zimmerman wrote on the auction website. “Now is your opportunity to own a piece of American History.”
He also described the gun as being operable, “attempts by the Department of Justice on behalf of B. Hussein Obama.

STEPHEN COLBERT HAS SOME ADVICE FOR PAUL RYAN

Late night host Stephen Colbert had some advice for House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday to help him get in the mood for endorsing Donald Trump.
“You want the first time you endorse Donald Trump to be special,” Colbert explained. “Look at Chris Christie, he rushed right in to endorse and now everywhere he goes is a walk of shame.”
“Don’t worry, Paul, when you decide the time is right for you to endorse Trump, it will only last a minute,” the comedian added. “Just shut your eyes and think of Reagan.”
“Until you’re completely ready, maybe it’s just best if you stay home and endorse yourself.”

Jan Brewer: 'This woman thing has gotten way out of control'

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer argued on Sunday that too much emphasis has been placed on electing female candidates.

During a discussion on CNN about presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s possible running mates, host Jake Tapper asked Brewer if she would be interested in the job.
“Who made up that list? They didn't put me on there,” Brewer complained. “Of course, I would be — I would be willing to serve in any capacity that I could be of help with Donald on.”
VIDEO COURTESY OF CNN

“Do you think he needs to pick a woman?” Tapper wondered. “Given how bad his numbers are with women.”

“I don’t necessarily think you need to pick a woman,” Brewer insisted. “You know, this woman thing has gotten way out of control I believe.
“And I think it’s been driven by the left,” she remarked. “Because they think that it’s going to bring them over the end. But I think people, when they sit down to vote, they vote for the very best candidate. They want somebody that’s going to represent them.”

SAVAGE SCHOOLS COULTER

Dan Savage and Ann Coulter clashed during Friday’s Real Times panel discussion - with Savage ripping into Coulter’s anti-immigrant rhetoric.

“Why do we want to throw these 11 million people out of the country?” Savage asked at one point. “They contribute more to our economy than they take out; they pay more in taxes than they receive in services; illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes per capita –”
“All of that is untrue,” Coulter responded. “Those are false facts. Not only are they false facts, but if they are true facts then you need to go and elect people who will change the laws.”
“But your rationale for building this wall is bullshit,” Savage shot back, a reference to Donald Trump’s insistence that he would build a wall at the US-Mexico border.

VIDEO COURTESY OF HBO

“No, the rationale is that he [would be] the commander-in-chief, he protects the borders,” Coulter countered. “Those are the laws.”
Earlier in the discussion, Coulter quipped that Savage “should be the spokesman for Hillary Clinton” because of his criticism toward the Republican base.
“That’s gonna be a big hit with the American people — who are overwhelmingly voting for Trump,” she said.
“No, the GOP base — which is overwhelmingly rubes, idiots, sexists, racists — are overwhelmingly voting for Trump,” Savage responded.

"LADY TRUMP" - YOU'RE A WHINY LITTLE BITCH

Bill Maher again last night - took Fuckface Von Clownstick to task regarding Clownstick's Masculinity, arguing that the stereotypes about 1950s housewives really do apply to the Republican candidate.
“Never forget, Lady Trump, that Hillary Clinton was born a woman,” he said. “But you chose to live your life as a whiny little bitch. Which is why, if Hillary is the Democratic nominee, I’ll be voting for the only one who has balls.”
Maher recalled that the real estate mogul once sued him for “challenging” him to prove he was not the son of an orangutan in response to Trump’s “birther” rhetoric concerning President Barack Obama.
“I sure hope this ‘man’ gets elected so the world respects us again,” Maher said sarcastically, adding, “He makes Lindsey Graham look like Vin Diesel. This isn’t presidential — it’s Glenn Close boiling the rabbit.”
And like a “daffy” housewife of the ’50s, the host said, Trump can’t balance a checkbook.
“Trump Airlines, Trump Casinos, Trump University, Trump Steaks. He’s got the Midas touch — if every time Midas touched something it exploded,” Maher said.

REALITY CHECK, THE GOP IS TRUMP AND HAS BEEN FOR AWHILE

GOP, you planted the seeds of hate, racism, xenophobia and greed that you’re now harvesting with Donald Trump’s candidacy.

Seth Meyers was quick to mock exiting candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Wednesday night, for not only being a national embarrassment but appearing to be universally hated by nearly anyone he has encountered.

But the real reality check came when Meyers showed the pathway the GOP took to get where they are now. “This should be a serious moment of introspection for Republicans,” he began with the tough love. “How did they get to the point where they’re handing their nomination to a race-baiting, xenophobic, serial liar who peddles conspiracy theories and thinks the National Enquirer is a real newspaper. The answer: This is no accident. This is not a fluke. The Republican Party is the party of Donald Trump — and has been for years.”

Meyers showed a clip from 2009, when scenes of the “birther movement” were playing out across the country. “I don’t want this flag to change! I want my country back!” the woman shouted holding up her own birth certificate.

“First of all, even if the president was a secret Muslim, he was never going to change the flag,” Meyers explained. “That’s like a surefire way to blow his secret.” Meyers said that when Trump saw the hate and vitriol coming out of people seeing a black man become president, he merely fanned the flames.
“And how did GOP leaders react when confronted with the fact that large numbers of their voters believed these racist myths peddled by Trump and others?” he said before showing a clip of John Boehner saying that it isn’t his job to stand up to his own voters and “it wasn’t my job to tell them what to think.”
“It wasn’t your job to tell them? Your job title was literally Speaker!” Meyers exclaimed. “Fucking speak!”

These GOP leaders all openly accepted the “myths about the first black president being born in Kenya and being a Muslim,” Meyers explained that these myths made Trump famous with conservatives. Now, suddenly, GOP leaders who not only endorsed other people but attacked Trump are coming to his side to help stop the GOP from turning into a shit-show. “This perfectly encapsulates why the forces opposed to Trump within the GOP were doomed from the beginning, because they were never willing to fully commit to standing up to Trump.”
“At the end of the day, Republicans should do some soul searching about how they turn their party into the party of Donald Trump. The #StopTrump movement, for all its good intentions, was awkward, it was poorly organized. It was almost as awkward as this moment,” Meyers said, showing Cruz elbowing his wife in the face.

Justice Department Tells North Carolina To Abandon Its Anti-LGBT Bathroom Bill — Or Else

The U.S. Department of Justice has informed Gov. Pat McCrory that North Carolina’s anti-transgender law, HB2, violates the federal Civil Rights Act. He has until Monday to provide assurances “that the State will not comply with or implement HB2.”

The letter sent to McCrory Wednesday explains that HB2, which among other things bans the use of restrooms by transgender people in accordance with their gender identities in all public schools and state buildings, violates both Title VII and Title IX. They protect against discrimination on the basis of sex in employment and education, respectively.
“Access to sex-segregated restrooms and other workplace facilities consistent with gender identity is a term, condition or privilege of employment,” the letter asserts. “Denying such access to transgender individuals, whose gender identity is different from the gender assigned at birth, while affording it to similarly situated non-transgender employees, violates Title VII.”
The letter also explains that because of the similar Title IX violations, North Carolina is at risk of losing its $861 million in federal funding for its schools.

If McCrory does not provide confirmation that HB2 will not be enforced, the Department of Justice could then begin taking actions against the state to overturn it. The Department of Education could follow suit by exercising its leverage over the state’s funding.

As of Tuesday, McCrory was still claiming that the law was not discriminatory. “This had to do with privacy,” he reiterated.

KIMMEL SLAMS PALIN

Sarah Palin has a new gig peddling a new climate-denial film called Climate Hustle. This is a perfect project for the former half-term governor of Alaska and failed vice-presidential candidate, because it combines her expertise in absolutely nothing with losing jobs. This was simply too much for late-night host Jimmy Kimmel to handle, crushing her so perfectly it’s impossible to think she could ever respond.

Kimmel ran two clips of incoherent Palin ramblings using the “think of the children” angle about science she isn't educated enough to understand. The problem is that her word-salad perpetuates the questioning of something 97 percent of all scientists believe. If she, and other dangerous climate deniers, continue to ramble on the proverbial street corner with a sign, it generates more and more doubt and we destroy the Earth.
“I have a theory,” Kimmel proposed. “I think maybe Sarah Palin wants global warming. It’s cold in Alaska. It would be welcome up there. But, the idea that she knows more than 97 percent of scientists is offensive and dangerous. No matter what Sarah Palin and these geniuses she surrounds herself with try to tell you, climate change is not a liberal-versus-conservative thing.”
“We’ve had 15 of the 16 hottest years ever since 2001. That’s not an opinion. It’s a fact,” Kimmel continued as the audience applauded. “For some reason whether or not humans are contributing to this has become a left versus right issue. The politicians debate it. Our scientists don’t. A huge majority of climate scientists say climate change is happening. They say we’re causing it and we need to do something about it before it has a terrible effect on all of us. There’s no debate about the greenhouse effect, just like there’s no debate about gravity. It someone throws a piano off the roof, I don’t care what Sarah Palin tells you — get out of the way. It’s coming down on your head.”
VIDEO COURTESY OF ABC

Kimmel continued, blaming Republicans in Congress for standing with Sarah Palin by perpetuating the idea that climate change is a “left-wing conspiracy.” Republicans “apparently know more about science than our scientists, or they pretend to because they get money to make sure they can keep doing the destructive things that they do.”

“Either you believe in science or you don’t,” Kimmel concluded. He also said that he expects to hear from the right for his defense of logic on the show. So, instead of passing himself off as some sort of scientific expert, he brought on actual scientists. One after the other, the experts, not Palin-experts, but actual experts, promised that they are not “fucking with you” when it comes to catastrophic climate change.

TRUMP SUPPORTER IN TRUMP LIKE FASHION ABUSES CRUZ

Senator Ted Cruz is having a rough go of it in Indiana where he trails GOP front runner Donald Trump in tomorrow’s primary.

Today didn’t get any easier when he was confronted by Trump supporters who treated him like — well, like the abusive Donald Trump would.

At a rally in Marion, Cruz was called “Lyin’ Ted” — a favorite of the billionaire businessman — by a Trump fan and Cruz attempted to engage the man in a conversation that went nowhere fast.

After being called “Lyin’ Ted,” and told he was the “problem,” Cruz tried to list off a litany of damaging issues about Trump to the man who smirked and kept interrupting Cruz, peppering him with questions.
“Where’s your Goldman Sachs jacket? We know your wife works there,” Cruz was asked.
“Sir, with all respect, Donald Trump is deceiving you. He is playing you for a chump,” Cruz said.

Cruz then attempted, “Why is it that John Boehner supports Donald Trump? Do you agree with John Boehner? Do you agree with Nancy Pelosi?”
“The thing is that I don’t agree with everybody but I believe in Trump,” the man replied.” He’s the only one that’s going to put us where we need to be.”
Another man jumped in to add: “You’ll find out tomorrow, Indiana don’t want you.”

Cruz replied, “Well, sir, you are entitled to have your–” only to be called “Lyin’ Ted” again.

Trying once more, Cruz said, “America is a better country–” with a Trump supporter finishing his sentence adding, “Without you.”
“Thank you for those kind sentiments. Let me point out, I have treated you respectfully the entire time,” Cruz continued.” And a question that everyone here should ask–”
Cruz was interrupted again: “Are you Canadian?”

TODD TAKES CRUZ TO TASK

Chuck Todd grilled Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Sunday for repeating talking points instead of providing answers to any of his questions.

During an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, the visibly frustrated host noted that Cruz had spent their entire time together “trying to eviscerate Donald Trump.”
“If he’s the nominee, I take it you can’t support him anymore, can you?” Todd stated.
After Cruz launched into yet another set of rehearsed lines, Todd exclaimed: “But are you going to support him?”
“I recognize that many in the media would love for me to surrender to Donald Trump,” Cruz droned.
“It’s not about the media,” Todd interrupted. “Senator, it’s about the numbers. He may win. Republican voters are the ones rejecting you. This is not a media conspiracy, Senator.”
“Donald can’t answer questions about his foreign policy,” the GOP hopeful insisted.
“Why can’t you answer the question of whether you can support Donald Trump or not?” Todd pressed. “You can’t answer that question. Why won’t you answer that question, straight forward, black and white?”
At that point, Cruz charged that NBC executives were “partisan Democrats.”
“You don’t get to just say that,” Todd shot back. “It’s just not true. Go ahead. You’re broad brushing here, and this is exactly what people hate about the media and politics. Broad brushes, right?”
“I’m not willing to concede this country,” the struggling candidate remarked. “If we lose this, we lose our country.”
“Don’t you think it’s important to take a stand?” Todd asked. “You just said it’s a time for choosing. If it’s a time for choosing, say it, for him or against him as the nominee!”
“Let the record show, you have not taken a position on whether you can support Trump if he’s the nominee,” the host added.
“And let the record show you tried very, very hard to get me to commit to supporting Trump,” Cruz concluded.

WING-NUT CAMERON, HE WAS A TERRIBLE ACTOR AND HE'S NOT ANY BETTER AT BEING A CHRISTIAN

Former child star and heart throb of the TV show Growing Pains, Kirk Cameron, has apparently morphed into a giver of marriage advice that seems to come from a different decade.

The actor-turned-Christian evangelist had some of this advice this week, telling the Christian Post that women should “follow” their husbands’ leadership.
“Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” he opined. “When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”
He added, “A lot of people don’t know that marriage comes with instructions. And, we find them right there in God’s word.”

Cameron has six children with his wife and fellow actress, Chelsea Noble, according to the Post.

This point of view isn't unique to Cameron, the Friendly Atheist points out.
“He’s only expressing what most churches still preach on a weekly basis, what has been the common theme of Biblical marriage for thousands of years, and is still part of most wedding ceremonies today, reminding wives to, ‘submit to your husbands in every way,'” Horus Gilgamesh writes. “Did the secular world really not have any idea that this type of inequality is readily taught in scripture and practiced in Christian households around the world?”
Cameron’s sister, Candace Cameron Bruce, also actively promotes the idea that wives should be submissive to husbands.
“The definition I’m using with the word ‘submissive’ is the biblical definition of that,” Bure, who starred in the sitcom “Full House,” wrote in her 2014 book. “So, it is meekness, it is not weakness. It is strength under control, it is bridled strength. And that’s what I choose to have in my marriage.”

"YOU'RE THE WEIRDOS"

Stephen Colbert shared his stance on Republican-backed state laws targeting LGBT people in public rest-rooms.
“Here’s the thing,” he told viewers. “I don’t care if you’re male or female, what sex or gender identity someone is, I — and I mean this sincerely — do not want to share a bathroom with anyone. For two reasons: No. 1 — and No. 2.”
The “Late Show” host wondered why public rest-rooms even existed, pointing out that his bathrooms at home had only one toilet each.
“When I am forced to use a public bathroom — which is infrequently, thank God — I go in there with blinders on,” Colbert said. “I don’t know who’s next to me. It could be a centaur next to me, for all I know. I don’t even like to look at myself in the mirror afterwards. I know what I did. I’m there for a surgical strike — get in, get out, minimal casualties.”
He said a more reasonable rest-room-related law would ban chit-chat.
“I’m not there to make friends,” Colbert said. “If we’ve just come out of a movie and you’re standing next to me, I don’t want to talk about how irreplaceable Robert Downey Jr. is as Iron Man. I don’t care if you’re Robert Downey Jr. yourself.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF CBS

“Second, if you’re a fan of mine — that’s wonderful,” he continued. “Please don’t try to shake my hand in there. Because I know what you just shook. Also, if there are a bunch of open stalls, don’t take the one next to me. It’s not the buddy system.”
Colbert then offered a special message to GOP lawmakers who wanted to legislate the private business of using a public rest-room.
“To all those lawmakers out there who are so obsessed with who’s using what bathroom and what plumbing they’ve got downtown — newsflash: You’re the weirdos,” Colbert said.

ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING WITH SANDERS

Sen. Bernie Sanders suffered a crushing defeat Tuesday night, losing three out of five states to Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton by significant margins at press time.

In a speech shortly after most polls closed at 8 pm, Sanders blamed his loss on closed primaries, which barred independent voters from participating in four of five primaries. He did win Rhode Island, which allows participation by independent voters.
“In a general election, Democrat, independent, Republican, has the right to vote for president. The elections are not closed primaries,” Sanders said. “Those folks and independents all over this country will be voting in November for the next president of the United States. And in most cases, we win the independent vote by a 2-1 margin.”
Clinton made another strong showing Tuesday night with non-white voters and city dwellers. Exit polls indicated strong support in cities like Baltimore.

Baltimore pastor Jamal Bryant, who had been working to get out the vote for Sanders in Baltimore’s inner city, lamented that the Vermont senator has not done better with communities of color, who have overwhelmingly backed Clinton.

“He more than any candidate, Democrat or Republican, speaks to our issues,” Bryant said, noting his progressive racial justice and criminal justice proposals. “I would have thought he’d have more black and brown supporters. But there’s been a translation problem. The gatekeepers have already sworn allegiance to the Clinton dynasty, and most people go with a name they’re already familiar with.
As his path to the nomination narrows, Sanders’ campaign is reassessing the senator’s prospects following Tuesday’s losses, and key supporters are admitting that it is increasingly unlikely he can clinch the nomination. His campaign and supporters have already turned their attention to how Sanders can use his popularity and influence to shape the Democratic Party even if he is not its standard bearer.

The New York Times reported that aides to Sanders have started pressing party officials for a major role in drafting the platform for the Democratic National Convention in July, especially on including issues like a $15-an-hour federal minimum wage, breaking up Wall Street banks, and banning natural gas fracking.

BEE SHAMES FOX'S KILMEADE OVER ANDREW JACKSON

Samantha Bee teed off on Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade on Monday for his clumsy attempt to defend Andrew Jackson’s historical record, the Daily Beast reported.

Kilmeade was one of several conservatives who was angered by the fact that Jackson was being moved off of the front of the $20 bill in favor of Harriet Tubman, complaining that he was “a key member of America.”
“Hate to break it to you, Sparky,” Bee responded. “Jackson wasn’t involved in the founding of our country, because the Revolutionary War happened before Old Hickory’s pubes came in. He was not a Founding Father, he was a genocidal prick who forced the relocation of nonwhites and fomented populist rebellion — kind of like a Trump with better hair.
Kilmeade wasn’t alone in panning the switch, Bee noted; he was joined by Republicans calling it “political correctness,” as well as racists already planning to boycott the redesigned bill and conservatives arguing that Tubman should instead get her own currency — like, for example, a $12 bill allowing Jackson to remain the face of the $20.
“That would be something,” Bee said. “Make the black person worth exactly 3/5 of the white person’s value. Gee, why hasn’t anybody ever thought of that before? ”

JIM WEBB GOES FULL ASSHOLE IN OP-ED

In an op-ed for the Washington Post, former Sen. Jim Webb wagged a finger at supporters of Harriet Tubman’s new home on the 20-dollar bill, because they’ve been disparaging President Andrew Jackson too much.
“This dismissive characterization of one of our great presidents is not occurring in a vacuum,” Webb writes talking about the man who authorized the genocide of thousands of Native Americans. “Any white person whose ancestral relations trace to the American South now risks being characterized as having roots based on bigotry and undeserved privilege. Meanwhile, race relations are at their worst point in decades.”
Webb has a long history of supporting the southern Confederacy and the Confederate flag as a symbol of American heritage. It should be no surprise that he defends white privilege.

He further questions the Indian Removal Act implying that it was acceptable because other Presidents supported it. “This approach, supported by a string of presidents, including Jefferson and John Quincy Adams, was a disaster, resulting in the Trail of Tears where thousands died. But was its motivation genocidal?”

Yes. Yes, it was. As a former senator, Webb should know the definition of genocide as defined by the International Criminal Court. Anytime anyone, be it government or private citizen, attempts to systematically destroy a group of people it is defined as genocide. Even if the intent is not to kill the entire group of people, it falls under “crimes against humanity.” If Webb wants to claim that this is justifiable because more than one president and leaders of the day supported it, he risks standing with those who support crimes against humanity.

If that isn’t enough to disparage Andrew Jackson, the man literally killed Charles Dickinson in a duel for insulting Jackson’s wife. Talk about savagery, and somehow Americans should be proud of this man for sitting on the most circulated bill in our currency?

Webb should be well acquainted with the Edmund Burke quote about those who don’t learn from history being forced to repeat it. Part of valuing education and history is admitting our country’s mistakes. From what we did to Native Americans, to slavery and more, America made mistakes. Pledging allegiance to the United States of American means aspiring to

Pledging allegiance to the United States of American means aspiring to be a better nation as we move forward. Advanced citizenship such as ours requires a strive for exceptionalism if we want to believe we are exceptional. Shaming the American people for learning the history of this man and being repulsed by his actions isn’t an honorable act fitting of a former U.S. Senator and an American soldier.

HENRY ROLLINS TAKES ON NORTH CAROLINA"S MCCRORY

Author and singer Henry Rollins mocked North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory in his column for LA Weekly on Thursday, saying he was being “charitable” even mentioning him by name.
“The truth is that no one cares what his name is,” Rollins wrote. “He will be dimly remembered as the asshole who signed that fucked-up bill that embarrassed the majority of North Carolinians.”
Rollins became the latest culture figure to criticize HB2, which bars trans residents from using public restrooms according to their gender identities, and also struck down anti-discrimination statutes implemented in Charlotte.

The bill’s passage has led Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr and Cirque du Soleil to cancel performances in the state, while PayPal scrapped plans to set up a facility there. According to Rollins, the wave of criticism has put McCrory in an awkward political position.
“If McCrory eventually caves and tries to repeal it, everyone will know it’s because he values money over his homophobia, which he has poorly disguised as moral rectitude and common sense,” the former Black Flag frontman argued. “Either way he’s fucked.”
Rollins also revealed that he used to live in North Carolina for several summer seasons during his youth, and described it as “a great state in which to be a broke band on the road,” because of both the amount of venues in college towns in which he could perform and the number of fans who would open their homes to him after shows.
“Judging from the people of the state I have met over almost 50 years, I can’t believe they are pleased with House Bill 2. They probably are wondering how they got to where they are now,” he wrote.

NOAH GOES AFTER PRESS ON 'PRESIDENTIAL TRUMP"

Trevor Noah took the cable talking heads to task Wednesday night for changing their tune on GOP front-runner Donald Trump because he managed to get through his victory speech in New York without insulting anyone.

Tuesday night Trump gave what — for him at least — was a relatively subdued speech after destroying Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich at the polls in New York’s Republican primary
“Donald Trump crushed it,” Noah said, “On probably the best night of his life that didn’t involve a swimsuit competition.”
“What we got to see yesterday was a new Trump,” Noah continued. “He was succinct. Disciplined. And respectful. Which, according to the media, made him presidential as balls.”

Noah then shared clips of Fox’s Geraldo Rivera, CNN’s Gloria Borger and even Trump nemesis Megyn Kelly praising the candidate as “presidential,” after a campaign filled with insults for his opponents and adversaries.
“‘And he wasn’t racist. And he didn’t call any female reporters a bimbo? This guy is ready for the White House — give him the codes!'” Noah mocked Kelly.
“This is ridiculous,” Noah continued. “Trump has basically lowered the media’s expectation so much that not insulting someone seems presidential to them. That’s a tactic straight from The Art of The Deal. Wear people down so that they will accept the bare minimum.”
“Trump stabbed a stranger of Fifth Avenue!” Noah smirked. “Yeah, but at least he didn’t shoot them. He’s so presidential!”

COPS CAN'T DO JOBS IF EVERBODY'S WATCHING

Gun violence is up dramatically in Minneapolis — and the police union chief blames public scrutiny of law enforcement officers.

The city recorded 74 shooting victims through the first three months of this year, compared with just 40 during the same period last year, reported the Star Tribune.

The predominantly black North Minneapolis neighborhood has seen gun violence shoot up to 55 cases in 2016, from just 21 during the first three months of 2015.

Tensions are high between black residents and Minneapolis police after the officer-involved shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark, and community leaders are angry at the police response to subsequent Black Lives Matter protests — where five demonstrators were shot and wounded by white supremacists.

Lt. Bob Kroll, president of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis, has a simple explanation for the increase in gun violence following the 24-year-old Clark’s slaying and widespread protests.

He admits that officers have stopped doing their jobs, noted City Pages — but he blames the public for hurting their feelings with protests and criticism.
“Kroll …. blames the crime surge on a shrinking police force and greater scrutiny of police that has left some officers disengaged,” the Star Tribune reported. “The slowdown in policing has been noticeable.”
Police have made nearly half as many proactive stops this year through April 11 as they had during the same period last year — with 3,706 in 2016 versus 7,732 last year.

There has also been a dramatic dropoff in the number of traffic stops and arrests for serious crimes.

Police officials said they’re trying to get officers out of their patrol cars to do their jobs, but those efforts apparently aren’t working.

City Councilman Blong Yang, who lives on the city’s North Side, agrees that Minneapolis needs more police officers — but he also thinks those already on the payroll should get back to work.
“With all due respect, it baffles me that anyone, including police officers, can disagree with ‘greater scrutiny of the police,'” Yang said. “You should do your job and do it well, whether 800,000 eyes are watching or none. The idea of some officers disengaging is troubling."

ART OF THE CRY BABY

Listening to The Donald in the closing days of the NY primary makes me wonder if the Trump voter has any grey matter upstairs. For months we’ve listened to Trump claim Lyin’ Ted Cruz has been stealing votes. In his latest rant, DT is complaining that the system is rigged, that Cruz is buying delegates with lavish gifts. Gee Donald, aren’t you supposed to be the master of the deal? How are you getting beaten at your own game?

It should be no surprise how the system works. If you’re getting into the game, you should know the rules. So either Trump has proved to us that he’s incompetent and really doesn’t know how to run a business because all the “smart people” he hires can’t figure out how to win this simple game or he’s unwilling to invest in the game and secure his votes by out spending Cruz. If he’s afraid to invest in his own success why should we invest in him making America great again? Just compare Trump’s spending to Cruz or Hillary’s.

Let’s face it - Trump’s cheap. He is not interested in spending what it takes to win. So what does that tell us about how he’d run the country? He’s embarrassed himself multiple times of late. Just read what happened in Wisconsin a few weeks ago!

So now we get to see exactly how he’s run the nation – just like his multiple failed businesses. He’s no master of the deal. He’s just a big cry baby who rode the real estate bubble to success.

TODD GOES AFTER McCRORY

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory blamed liberals over the weekend for a state law that strips bathroom rights from transgender people.

On Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd asked the governor if he regretted signing HB2 after 160 companies called for it to be repealed, and dozens threatened to boycott the state.

McCrory argued that his job as governor was to stop “government overreach” by cities like Charlotte, which had passed an ordinance allowing transgender people to use the restroom of their choice.
“It was the left that brought about the bathroom bill, not the right,” he insisted. “The city of Charlotte passed a mandate on every private sector employer in North Carolina, one of the largest cities in the United States of America. And I think that’s government overreach.”
“You talk about overreach,” Todd interrupted. “You say Charlotte overreached. How did the state of North Carolina, the state government not overreach in just the same way?”

“This has been a long debate in the city of Charlotte, this is where they came down,” the Meet the Press host pointed out. “You guys debated for like 10 seconds.”
“We’ve got to have more dialogue and not threats,” McCory said, adding that there was a “disconnect” between “corporate suites and main street.”
“That’s a very thoughtful thing for you to say about dialogue,” Todd shot back. “Where was the dialogue?”
According to McCrory, the legislature felt that it needed to act fast to stymie Charlotte’s ordinance because “once it came into effect, it would be harder to overturn.”

The governor admitted that he did not meet with transgender people before signing the law, but complained that the Human Rights Council was “more powerful than the NRA.”
“Which makes me want to overturn [Citizens United] because I don’t know who their donors are,” he quipped. “They are putting on a lot of pressure instead of having good dialogue.”

"GOD IS A BOOB MAN"

SNL took aim at a multitude of subjects associated with the rise of religious freedom laws that are anti-LGBT legislation in disguise, with a parody film preview of an “oppressed Christian” baker forced to not only make a cake for a same-sex couple but also to declare that “God is gay.”

In the clip — from the makers of God On The Run and Angel In Denim: The Kim Davis Story — cast member Vanessa Bayer plays a “small town baker without a care” until a same-sex couple demands she bake their wedding cake, causing her faith to be “tested.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF NBC

Despite being told by a co-worker that “gays are the most powerful force in America,” she refuses and what ensues is a court case following a meeting with a Jewish lawyer from the ACLU who tells her all her legal problems will go away if only she’ll say: “God is gay.”

While taking a shot at films like God Is Dead, the parody also hits lawmakers who set aside problems such as being “the poorest state in the country, second in childhood obesity, and third in teen pregnancy.”

"HAVEN CAN WAIT"

Bill Maher last night closed the show by calling for the US to crack down on not only corporations that get away without paying any taxes, but religious institutions.

“Why, in heaven’s name, don’t we tax religion?” he asked. “A sexist, homophobic magic act that’s been used to justify everything from genital mutilation to genocide.

You want to raise the tax on tobacco so kids don’t get cancer, OK. But let’s put one on Sunday school so they don’t get stupid.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF HBO

The fact that even a small religion like Scientology can own billions of real estate tax-free, Maher said, made him “hopping mad.” He also raised the point that religious participation in the US has declined to the point that 22 percent of Americans now identify as atheists or agnostic.

“Almost a quarter of us are being forced to subsidize a myth that we’re not buying into. Why am I subsidizing their Sunday morning hobby? They don’t subsidize mine,” he protested, before showing a picture of himself near a bong.

Among young people, Maher said, 35 percent “want nothing to do with religion” while the rest “worship an ancient Jew born over 2,000 years ago — Bernie Sanders.”

MADDOW GOES AFTER TRUMP

Rachel Maddow ripped GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump for campaigning — despite local and media criticism — near the site where a 37-year-old immigrant was murdered in November 2008.
“In presidential politicking, symbolism is a deliberate choice. And racial provocation is something with a deep and resonant history,” she said. “It is one thing to do that as a small-fry politician; it is another thing to do it as a front-runner for a major party’s presidential nomination. Being a presidential front-runner is a powerful thing. It can also be a dangerous thing if you want it to be.”
Trump appeared on Thursday afternoon in Patchogue, New York, for a Suffolk County Republican Party fundraiser, at a venue not far from the train station where Marcelo Lucero, who emigrated to the US from Ecuador, was stabbed to death after being attacked by a group of seven teenagers. Jeffrey Conroy, who was 17 years old at the time of the attack, was later convicted of first-degree manslaughter as a hate crime and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

While most of the nation was preoccupied with the election of President Barack Obama at the time of Lucero’s death, Maddow explained, “in New York the local story was Suffolk County and these racist attacks — these escalating racist attacks that had suddenly, but probably inevitably, turned fatal.

Lucero’s death led other Latinos in the area to confirm that the attack against him was only one in a series of them. Trump’s appearance in Patchogue on Wednesday, Maddow said, had local activists concerned that it would lead to a resurgence in violence against immigrant communities.
“Patchogue’s history of racist and fatal hate crimes against Latino immigrants is not necessarily a nationally-famous story,” she said. “But it is a New York-famous story. Donald Trump has not yet won the Republican nomination — he’s still trying to win the New York primary — but campaigning in Patchogue today on the street where Marcelo Lucero was murdered, it means something specific in New York.”

VERIZON CEO GOES FULL NUTTER

After Bernie Sanders criticized Verizon’s labor policies and stood with striking workers at a picket line in Brooklyn, the company’s CEO lashed out at the presidential candidate.

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam put up a spirited response to Sanders on his LinkedIn page, citing a similar post by General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt from earlier this month.
I read with interest Jeff Immelt’s spirited response to Sen. Bernie Sanders putting GE on his hit-list of big corporations that are “destroying the moral fabric” of America..In fact, I share his frustration. Verizon is in Sanders’s bull’s-eye, as well. The senator’s uninformed views are, in a word, contemptible…
McAdam challenged Sanders’ assertion that Verizon has avoided paying taxes, citing financial statements that show the company has paid $15.6 billion in the last two years, which would add up to a 35% tax rate last year.

However, according a 2013 Americans for Tax Fairness report, Verizon made “Made $19.3 billion in U.S. pretax profits from 2008-2012 but paid no federal income taxes during the period” and received “$535 million in tax rebates.”

McAdam also pushed back against Sanders claim that the company had not invested in the United States. “Again, Sen. Sanders is wrong on the facts,” McAdam post reads, “More egregiously, he oversimplifies the complex forces operating in today’s technologically advanced and hyper-competitive economy.”

Nearly 40,000 Verizon landline walked off the job Wednesday morning after working without a contract since August. Workers say the company is looking to freeze pensions, make it easier to fire employees and rely more heavily on contract workers.

The Sanders campaign’s Twitter account sent out a response to McAdam’s post: “I don’t want the support of McAdam, Immelt and their friends in the billionaire class. I welcome their contempt.”

FUCK YOU O'REILLY

Larry Wilmore has waged a Twitter war with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on Tuesday evening’s show.

On O’Reilly’s Monday night episode, the right-wing host had presidential candidate Donald Trump on to talk about his campaign and his ability to provide jobs to the African-American community.
“How are you going to get jobs for them?” O’Reilly asked. “Many of them are ill-educated and have tattoos on their foreheads, and I hate to be generalized about it but it’s true. If you look at all the educational statistics, how are you going to give jobs to people who aren’t qualified for jobs?”

“What the fuck did you just…” Wilmore said astounded. “Just so you know, Bill O’Reilly, I’m one of those rare black people who don’t have a forehead tattoo. But if I did, it’d be this,” he said pulling out a sign that says “FUCK U O’Reilly.”

Wilmore further asked all races in his “Nightly Show” audience to make their own forehead tattoos to say something to O’Reilly and to use the hashtag#ForeheadSolidarity.

“If you have a forehead, you, too can tell Bill O’Reilly to go fuck himself,” Wilmore said.

LIBERAL TURNER EXPLAINS WHY HILARY IS BAD FOR BLM ON CNN

Nina Turner asserted on Monday that “brand loyalty” was causing African-American voters to support Hillary Clinton in spite of her 1996 remarks about “super-predators.”

After Bill Clinton recently shouted down Black Lives Matter protesters who disagreed with the use of the term “super-predators” during his administration, Sanders called on the former president to apologize “for trying to defend what is indefensible.”

On Monday, Turner told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that black voters “cannot be super-predators and then a firewall [for Hillary Clinton] in 2016.”
“African-Americans for far too long have been painted as the other,” she explained. “And the term itself — predator — is bad enough. Adding super-predator to it adds another dimension, and we know the impact that has on the African-American community.”
Rep. Hakeen Jeffries noted that Hillary Clinton had apologized for using the term “super-predators” in the 1990s, and he argued that the focus on terminology was a sign of “desperation” from the Sanders campaign.
“You are right,” Turner shot back. “Desperate people do desperate things and the Clinton campaign is very desperate right now… Let’s talk about consistency. Sen. Sanders has been consistent standing up for the working poor and the middle class in this country. He doesn’t change his message based on what will resonate with the voters.”
“Some in the African-American community do feel used,” she added. “I would argue that the secretary is enjoying this history, the brand loyalty that African-Americans tend to have.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF CNN

Turner explained that she was “sick and tired of the Clinton campaign riding the back of President Obama.”
“So, let’s roll the tape,” Turner challenged Jeffries. “Let’s compare what [Sanders] said 30 or 40 years ago to the secretaries record up until this point and you will see who has been the most honest and consistent champion for the people of America.”
“Well, we have rolled the tape,” Jeffries replied. “And African-Americans throughout the country, including in your home state of Ohio, have consistently concluded that Secretary Clinton is best qualified to continue the Obama legacy.”

“It’s a brand loyalty going on there more than anything else,” Turner concluded.

SNL MOCKS CLINTON

SNL took another swipe at Hillary Clinton this week, portraying her pandering for votes in New York, taking a shot at Bernie Sanders supporter Susan Sarandon and recreating the candidate’s difficulties using a Metrocard to get on the subway.

Acknowledging her recent string of primary losses to Sanders, Clinton explains that she is happy to be back in New York — or as she calls it: “the Fat Apple.”
“God I love being back in the Fat Apple,” she explains. “My home state — except for Illinois and Arkansas — but they’ve already voted, so we cool, we cool.”
Donning a Yankees hat, she fake noshes on a New York hot dog and street vendor peanuts before flipping the hat around exposing a Mets logo, saying, “Ah. God I love those New York Meets!”

VIDEO COURTESY OF NBC

Encouraging voters to turn out for Tuesday’s primary — which is actually a week from this coming Tuesday — Clinton urges younger voters who are mainly in the Sanders camp to skip voting because, “voting is for nerds. Who cares? Just sleep in.”

Turning to vocal Sanders advocate, actress Susan Sarandon, Clinton offered an alternative suggestion for election day referencing her famous role in Thelma and Louis.
“To Susan Sarandon who said Trump might be better for America than me,” Clinton stated, “Why don’t you take Tuesday to go drive off another cliff.”

"YOU CAN'T IMPEACH HER IF YOU DON'T ELECT HER"

Last night BIll Maher told the GOP what they didn't wasn't to hear - and that was that they are not going to be winning the Presidential election in November. He told them to punt, and that its ok to do so.

Maher compared the GOP - liking them to a filthy house where an old lady lived with a 100 cats who peed everywhere.

VIDEO COURTESY OF HBO

Maher dismantled the GOP for its current choice between two unpalatable potential presidential nominees.
“Either Ted Cruz — a man with all the appeal of Jared from Subway, minus the inspiring weight-loss story — or Donald Trump, the zombie candidate,” he said.
What the party should do, Maher argued, is just “punt” this year and play defense against Hillary Clinton.

Maher told the nutters to play defense. Since the frothy wing nuts want Hilary ginned up on charges, he told them that the best way to do that is to allow her to win the Presidency, and stated, "you can't impeach her if you don't elect her."

IF CRUZ IS THE NOMINEE “I’LL GET CYANIDE”

Peter King isn’t ready to endorse anyone for president — but he definitely opposes one of the GOP candidates.

In an appearance Thursday afternoon on the Fox Business Network, King said that he appreciated Trump’s support on past issues like his investigations of Muslim radicalization in America — but he also didn’t like Trump’s attacks on John McCain, or the allegation that President George W. Bush lied about the Iraq War.

But those disagreements pale in comparison to how much King really doesn’t like Ted Cruz.
“With Donald Trump, I’ve had some real issues with him. On the other hand, in no way am I comparing him to Ted Cruz,” King said. “Ted Cruz — anyone in New York who even thinks of voting for Ted Cruz is a nut!”
“What if Ted Cruz is the nominee, Congressman King?” host Trish Regan asked. “What if Ted Cruz is the nominee — what do you do, then?”
“I tell you, I don’t know — I’ll get some cyanide,” King said. “I don’t know what I’ll do. I mean, I’ll just — you know, not gonna tell you.”
A stunned Regan asked again: “Will you vote for him?”
“Listen, put it this way: I will endorse the nominee of the party,” King concluded. “But it wouldn’t be the most, you know, vociferous support.”
About a year ago, much earlier in the presidential primary season, King previously entertained other possible methods of suicide in the event of a Cruz nomination — having long despised the Texas senator over such issues as his role in the 2013 government shutdown, and that “he doesn’t carry out an intelligent debate” with anyone.

“BAKE THE FUCKING CAKE AND SHUT THE FUCK UP”

Young Turks Ana Kasparian blasted republican lawmakers in Mississippi on Wednesday over the lengths to which they have gone to promote their “religious liberty” with the passage of HB 1523.
“Religious business owners in the state would rather lose out on business because they’re so hateful toward a specific group of people,” she said. “Think about that for a second. Just bake the fucking cake and shut the fuck up. Seriously, why is it such a big deal? What’s gonna happen? Do you think that as you’re in the process of blending your ingredients, you might think about touching some other man’s dick? What goes through their minds? Just get over it.”

VIDEO COURTESY OF YOUNG TURKS

The law allows employers to cite “sincerely held religious beliefs” as the basis for implementing dress codes and other criteria in the workplace, and also lets businesses choose to refuse to render services to same-sex couples.

It has already provoked criticism both online and from the private sector, has also prompted three states to ban non-essential state travel to Mississippi.
“Here’s one thing that Republican politicians eventually listen to: businessmen,” co-host Cenk Uygur argued. “When corporate powers start telling you to bow your head, that’s what Republican politicians were made for.”
