There has been no lack of conservatives freaking out on Bullshit Mountain [Fox News] to discuss the arrival of the deadly Ebola virus in America, and they have had a fair measure of success frightening a surprisingly large segment of their viewership.

Republicans and their conservative cabal have even combined their ISIL fear-mongering tactics with their immigration fear-mongering to distract Americans going into an important midterm election. Except for the medical researchers and infectious disease scientists from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and National Institute of Health (NIH), there has been precious little information from real medical professionals of any repute that could relieve the rising fear and anxiety among the population that knows little about the virus, or what precautions they need, if any, to protect themselves and their families.

Although experts claim there is little reason for panic of a devastating outbreak of the deadly virus in America, a recent Harvard poll revealed that 39% of American adults are worried about a large-scale outbreak and over 25% are mortified that an immediate family member will be stricken with the infectious virus and die. What America needs at times like this is a trusted public health expert and medical professional to educate the public about the risk of contracting Ebola and reassure them that there is little to worry about and what steps to take to stay safe and Ebola-free.

Last November 14th, the President nominated Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, an extremely qualified candidate to replace ‘acting’ Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin. It took three months, but the Senate finally got around to holding a confirmation hearing for Dr. Murthy’s appointment. However, the National Rifle Association exerted its very substantial legislative prerogative and blocked Murthy’s confirmation because he does not recognize that the NRA is “fourth and all-powerful branch of the federal government” and called for sane gun restrictions to prevent more Americans from dying unnecessarily from the gun violence epidemic. It is exactly what a real medical professional, and highly-qualified potential Surgeon General of the United States is supposed to do - help prevent a deadly epidemic from spreading to save American lives.


It is a sad state of affairs when Republicans and their puppet masters - the NRA, are able to wield such powerful influence that they will not vote to confirm Dr. Murthy. Ebola is not an epidemic in America and a trusted Surgeon General would ease the fear and anxiety among the growing number of Americans worried they or their families will contract and succumb to the virus. However, because the qualified Surgeon General candidate believes easing the proliferation of guns driving the real American epidemic killing over a hundred Americans daily and injuring even more, the National Rifle Association, Republicans, and a few gun-shy Democrats will not allow his confirmation.

With the blockage of Dr. Vivek H. Murthy - along with a republcian lead congress reducing federal dollars to PHEP [Public Health Emergency Preparedness Cooperative Agreement Funding] by half since 2006 [See above Gantt Chart] its no wonder why America is not prepared for a Ebola outbreak.

Naturally, like all things tea bagger, if Obama wasn't busy covering up Benghazi conspiracies by playing golf, we would be more prepared for Ebola.

Conservatives are our own worst enemy. This story is a prime example readers of why we should always - "remember to spay or neuter your Republicans".

A series of IRS documents, provided to journalists under the Freedom of Information Act, appears to contradict the claims by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and his House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that only Tea Party organizations applying for tax-exempt status “received systematic scrutiny because of their political beliefs.” The 22 “Be On the Look Out” keywords lists, distributed to staff reviewing applications between August 12, 2010 and April 19, 2013, included more explicit references to progressive groups, ACORN successors, and medical marijuana organizations than to Tea Party entities.

The IRS provided the heavily-redacted lists - after nearly a year-long search. From the earliest lists through 2012, the “historical” section of the lists encouraged reviewers to watch out for “progressive” groups with names like “blue,” as their requests for 501(c)(3) charitable status might be inappropriate. Their inclusion in this section suggests that the concern predates the initial 2010 list.

Explicit references to “Tea Party,” included in the “emerging issues” section of the lists, also began in August 2010 — but stopped appearing after the May 10, 2011 list. From that point on, the lists instructed agents to flag all political advocacy groups of any stripe. The documents instructed the agents to forward any “organization involved with political, lobbying, or advocacy” applying for 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) status be forwarded to “group 7822″ for additional review. Groups under both categories are limited in the amount of of lobbying and political activity each can undertake.

Other types of groups received explicit scrutiny for longer than “progressive” or “Tea Party” organizations. These included applicants involved with “medical marijuana” but not “exclusively education” (19 appearances in the “watch list” section of the lists), which were to be forwarded to a “group 7888″ and groups believed to be possible successor-groups to ACORN, the now-shuttered Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (12 appearances on the “watch list” section). Those applications were also to be elevated to managers for further review. All 22 documents also flagged applicants with Puerto Rico addresses and certain types of “Testamentary Trusts.”

Last year, the IRS acknowledged that it had improperly flagged groups applying for tax-exempt status for additional scrutiny if they contained common Tea Party keywords in their applications. Rather than addressing the very real problem of political committees masquerading as 501(c)(4) groups to evade public disclosure laws, this approach instead delayed the process for several groups purely on the basis of their names. President Obama and members of both parties in Congress all agree that the IRS acted improperly in singling-out certain groups for more scrutiny than others.

In Issa’s committee’s recent report, “Debunking the Myth that the IRS Targeted Progressives,” the Republican majority staffers wrote that while the Be On the Lookout lists’ language was “changed to broader ‘political advocacy organizations,’ the IRS still intended to identify and single out Tea Party applications for scrutiny.” The report goes to great lengths to distinguish the different types of scrutiny provided to each of these types of flagged group. But the actual IRS records indicate that at least some additional scrutiny was required for groups of all types that had names that sounded political — and that the explicit heightened scrutiny for left-leaning groups was even longer-standing than for Tea Party groups.

IRS disclosure manager Bertrand Tzeng noted, in a letter, that these 22 released documents “constitute the set of criteria that were used by IRS employees and which were produced to the investigating congressional committees.” Tzeng added that while his office has been informed that “draft versions of some of these documents may also exist, we understand that such drafts would be exempt from disclosure under FOIA exemption” as simply part of the agency’s deliberative process.

DEBT CEILING LIMIT TO SPUR WORLD WIDE ECONOMIC PROSPERITY.....

In an interview with the Washington Post, Rep. Ted Yoho (Teahadist) said on not raising the debt ceiling, “I think, personally, it would bring stability to the world markets.”

This is because, in his view, “we need to have that moment where we realize we're going broke.” He firmly told the paper, “I’m not going to raise the debt ceiling.” He also characterized the current government shutdown as “the tremor before the tsunami.”

Few agree with Yoho that a failure to raise the debt ceiling, which would mean the United States government would not have adequate funds to pay for all of the debts it owes and would likely default on at least some, would be beneficial. Last week, the Treasury Department released a report that warned that a default could create “a recession more severe than any seen since the Great Depression.”

It came to this conclusion by looking at the consequences of the near default in 2011, which led to a sharp decline in consumer and business confidence, a hit to the financial markets, and a slow down in job growth. The impact on the financial markets from nearly defaulting on the debt and getting a first-ever downgrade on the debt from Standard & Poor’s “persisted for months.” The brinkmanship that time around also meant a $2.4 trillion drop in household wealth, an $800 billion drop in retirement assets, and a hit to mortgages. It increased the government’s borrowing costs by $1.3 billion.

This all happened even though the U.S. didn't actually default in 2011. If that were to happen, investors could become unwilling to lend to the country, leaving it with an immediate cash shortfall and creating unknowable (yet clearly devastating) ripple effects throughout the markets and the global economy.

Threatening to not raise the debt ceiling unless Republican demands are met is a relatively new tactic. Historically, the limit was routinely raised, including seven times under President George W. Bush, and even House Speaker John Boehner used to warn against using it as leverage.

Where does the tinfoil hat society come up this stuff? All this manufactured bullshit by these pseudo patriotic, these so-called Christian conservatives, whose real job is to spread dishonestly without integrity - full of lies and misinformation.

The long history of American anti-intellectualism is now complete. This idea to allow the country to default on its bills, would be just like getting poked in the eye with a sharp stick - and that somehow this sharp jab in the eye will improve your vision.

Yoho is definitely reaching for the lofty levels of stupid routinely attained by Steve King, Louie Gohmert, and Michele Bachmann. Why is it that stupid is the only thing that the universe provides us an infinite amount of?

Bill Maher ended Friday nights show with a proud boast that California is creating the kind of “moderate liberal nation” the country as a whole really needs to be, and it’s doing so thanks to the lack of a Republican “legislative cock-block.”

Maher boasted, “We’re not just gluten-free and peanut-free and soy-free, we’re tea party-free! Yes, we can live in reality!” He tore into the “caboose part of America” that isn’t embracing the kind of change California is, saying that conservatives may love the free market and states rights, but those two things will ultimately “bend the country in California’s image as a socialist fagtopia.”

In California, Maher said, NRA stands for “nuts, racists, and assholes,” and while other states are “working with Jesus to make abortion more miserable,” California is making it easier, not to mention being more welcoming to illegal immigrants.

Maher concluded, “We can’t be worrying about the nonsense that keeps Fox News up at night.”

KENTUCKY SCIENCE DENIERS BE ADVISED

FACTS AND SCIENCE ELUDES THE GOP

Last Wednesday, a Kentucky review committee voted down the state’s plan to incorporate new federal science education guidelines into its curriculum. But Kentucky’s governor is making sure the committee doesn't get the last word on science education in his state.

Gov. Steve Beshear (Democrat) said Wednesday that he plans to implement the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) “under his own authority,” despite the Kentucky legislature’s Administrative Regulation Review Subcommittee’s 5-1 decision that the standards are deficient. The governor’s announcement will ensure the standards will move forward for the time being — they could still be killed by Kentucky’s general assembly when it returns in January, but the governor would then have the option to veto that decision.

Kentucky’s path to implement the NGSS — which are voluntary guidelines that, if adopted by states, provide standards for science education that include the teaching of climate science and evolution — has been a rocky one. The state Board of Education approved the standards this June, but since then, the state’s Tea Party along with religious and family-based groups have lobbied hard against the adoption of the rules — lobbying that Robert Bevins, president of Kentuckians for Science Education, a group that supports the NGSS, said resulted in the subcommittee’s vote against the standards.

Kentucky’s Senate Education Committee’s chairman Mike Wilson has also taken issue with the standards, saying in a May op-ed they included “troubling assumptions” on the topics of climate change and evolution. Those assumptions included the NGSS’s statements that “human activities, such as release of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels, are major factors in the current rise in Earth’s mean surface temperature” and “outcomes predicted by global climate models strongly depend of the amounts of human-generated greenhouse gases added to the atmosphere each year.”

Only five other states so far — California, Vermont, Maryland, Kansas and Rhode Island — have approved the NGSS, which represent the first major overhaul of science education in the U.S. in more than a decade. The standards are facing big challenges in some other states — in 2012, Texas Board of Education Chair Barbara Cargill said there was a “zero percent chance” the state would approve the guidelines. Texas updated its science education standards in 2009, an overhaul which resulted in a curriculum that required students to learn the “strengths and weaknesses” of all scientific theories, notably Darwin’s theory of evolution. And this month in Texas, state-appointed textbook reviewers are pushing the state to go even further in downplaying the legitimacy of largely scientifically-agreed upon topics like climate change and evolution.

Lisa Hoyos, co-founder and director of Climate Parents, a group that’s been vocal in its support of NGSS and testified in support of the standards in front of the Kentucky state legislature earlier this year that the group was thankful for the governor’s support of NGSS and was planning to continue to monitor the situation in the state. The group also organized a petition in Kentucky in support of the standards, which Hoyos said garnered about 6,000 signatures and many comments from parents and grandparents urging the state legislature to adopt the standards.

“A very small percentage of kids are actually receiving climate change education in their public school experience, and at the same time climate change is clearly something that is going to affect every child not even over the course of their lifetime but in their immediate future,” she said. “We need to prepare our kids to build a low-carbon economy and they need to know the basics about climate change in order to do that.”

Ignorance can be forgivable Kentucky, taking pride in it cannot!

Watching the events of the day, these are the notes that I took - and my synopsis 50 years later.

Can you guess how many GOP speakers took part in today's celebration of the March on Washington?

The 50th anniversary of the March On Washington has given the country a chance to reflect on how far we have come, and yet how much further we still have left to go toward achieving Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream.

MSNBC yesterday discussed the great reluctance for all conservatives to recognize the reality that we have not solved all of the racial problems in America, and to often they label any discussion of the subject as “race baiting.”

Earlier this year, Justice [Supreme being] John Roberts demonstrated this sort of thinking in his opinion justifying the Supreme Court’s evisceration of the Voting Rights Act when he wrote, ”the conditions that originally justified these measures no longer characterize voting in the covered jurisdictions.” As we have seen in the subsequent months, there are many in said jurisdictions who would beg to differ - differ the ignorance and subjective discrimination from the Supreme Beings.

Julian Bond, chairman emeritus of the NAACP, and Bryan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative discussed today the importance of conveying the lack of racial equity to these special tin foil hat patriots, once known as the conservatives. Bond noted this continued denial was evident even in today’s events commemorating the march, noting “what’s really telling is the podium behind me today, how many tea baggers will be there…They asked a long list of "conservatives" to come, and to all men and woman asked, they all said no…The fact that they seem to want to get black votes…they’re never ever going to get them this way.”

This current brand of the "conservative" is a disgusting lot! In reality, as long as they continue this path of ignorance - it will be an eternity before they ever occupy the oval office again!

On Face the Nation this Sunday, Colin Powell, former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, warned his fellow Republicans that the continuing push to restrict voting rights is going to “backfire” and harm the Republican Party:

These kinds of procedures that are being put in place to slow the process down, and make it likely that fewer Hispanics and African Americans might vote I think is going to backfire, because these people are going to come out and do what they have to do in order to vote and I encourage that.

Powell went on to describe just how damaging these laws may be as the country’s demographics shift:

Here’s what I say to my Republican friends: The country is becoming more diverse. Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, African Americans are going to constitute a majority in a generation. You say you want to reach out, you say you want to have a new message, you say you want to see if you can bring some of these voters to the Republican side. This is not the way to do it. The way to do it is to make it easier to vote and then give them something to vote, they can believe it. It’s not enough to say just we have to have a new message. We have to have a substance to that new message.

Voting rights were an integral demand of the March on Washington 50 years ago, but the American Taliban has been pushing a variety of restrictions at the state level and are now emboldened by a Supreme Court ruling invalidating part of the Voting Rights Act (VRA). Powell remarked that these state laws “in some ways makes it a little bit harder to vote,” such as requiring ID, restricting voting hours, and making it harder for students to cast a ballot.

Since the Supreme Court decision that struck down the section of the VRA that forced states with histories of disenfranchisement to get clearance from the federal government on changes to voting, at least six states have renewed their efforts to pass voting restrictions, including voter ID measures, redrawing districts so that minority voting blocks could have their power weakened, and others. North Carolina became the first to enact a law, with a measure that some have described as “the worst voter suppression law” in the country. It requires strict voter ID to cast a ballot, reduces the number of early voting days by a week, eliminates same-day voter registration during early voting, and makes other severe changes. Powell previously warned that North Carolina’s law is the kind that “turns people away” from the radical Party.

While proponents of these measures purport to be worried about rampant voter fraud, on Sunday Powell remarked, “Nothing substantiates that, there isn't widespread abuse.” In fact, zero of the 17 suspected fraud cases in Boulder, CO were found to exist, and there have been many failures for those attempting to find evidence of widespread voter fraud. A person is 39 times more likely to be struck by lightning than to commit fraud.

Voting restrictions aren't the only way the Talibangelicals are screwing up their effort to reach out to minority voters, however. They've voted to deport DREAMers, boycotted Spanish-language TV, argued for self-deportation, reacted poorly to the Trayvon Martin ruling, and used racially insensitive language, among other things.

The GOP is not going to change, it is their nature.

‘God Help Us’ If Ted Cruz Becomes President

Howard Dean excoriated Candy Crowley’s interview with Ted Cruz on CNN Sunday morning, calling it “a very long interview with very little content,” and saying “God help us” if Cruz ever became more than a U.S. Senator.

Cruz had pitched allowing people to buy health insurance across state lines as one of the policies he would put in place instead of Obamacare.

“I don’t want the Texas insurance commissioner being up here in Vermont,” Dean said. “We have had universal health insurance for all our kids for twenty years. They have 22% of their children uninsured in Texas. I don’t want anything to do with Texas’ health care system in Vermont and I don’t want our people buying Texas health insurance.”

“So these are crazy ideas from the far right,” Dean said. “He’s a slick spokesman and god help us if he gets to be anything more than the senator from Texas.”

Ted Cruz constitutes an important reminder that, before there was the Bolivar Movement and South American socialism, there were Hispanic macho strongmen, dictators, extremecon zealots and slick-grifting demagogues.

NORTH CAROLINA TAKES MAJOR STRIDES BACKWARDS

The state of North Carolina, a state which bleeds "Teahadists" [GOP] legislatively speaking, has ratcheted up its hate for everything non-white. Literally since the 2010 mid-terms, the state has gone to great lengths to punish those - those who are not pasty white GOPers.

North Caroline has taken the bold stance, that if we can't win a Presidential election honestly, we will cheat, lie and Gerrymander until we do win.

North Carolina’s new voter suppression law shows why the Voting Rights Act is still necessary.

Usually it takes years to judge when the Supreme Court gets something very wrong. Think of Justice Kennedy’s opinion for the court in the 2010 campaign-finance case, Citizens United, freeing corporations to spend money on elections. He wrote that the “appearance of [corporate] influence or access will not cause the electorate to lose faith in our democracy,” a point that remains hotly debated even as the amount of money in federal elections skyrockets.

But the conservative justices’ decision this past June in Shelby County v. Holder, striking down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act, has already unleashed, at least in North Carolina anyway, the most restrictive voting law we've seen since the 1965 enactment of the VRA. Texas is restoring its voter ID law which had been blocked (pursuant to the VRA) by the federal government. And more is to come in other states dominated by Republican legislatures.

Colin Powell just happened to be speaking in North Carolina, with the states Governor [Pat McCrory] in attendance. Powell condemned the state, the governor and his party saying: 

“These kinds of actions do not build on the base. It just turns people away,” said Powell, President George W. Bush’s former secretary of state. “What it really says to the minority voters is ... ‘We really are sort-of punishing you.’” 

Powell disputed arguments by McCrory and some legislative Republicans that voter fraud likely exists but is hard to detect.

I THOUGHT RICK PERRY DESPISED "OBAMACARE"?

RICK PERRY PROVES HE'S NOT DONE WITH STUPID

Politico reported Tuesday evening that Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s administration is in negotiations with the Obama White House to accept about $100 million in federal money to implement an Obamacare Medicaid program to help elderly and disabled Americans.

Perry has been a heated opponent of the health law. He refused to accept $100 billion in federal funding to expand Texas’ Medicaid program under Obamacare, which could have helped 1.5 million poor Texans afford basic health benefits. As recently as April, Perry essentially called the expansion a joke. “Seems to me April Fool’s Day is the perfect day to discuss something as foolish as Medicaid expansion, and to remind everyone that Texas will not be held hostage by the Obama administration’s attempt to force us into the fool’s errand of adding more than a million Texans to a broken system,” said Perry.

Now, Perry is seeking federal dollars for Texas’ Medicaid program anyway.

The Affordable Care Act grants state funding to expand a program called Community First Choice, which aims to improve the community-based medical services available to disabled and elderly Americans. The wildly popular program is administered through Medicaid and could prevent thousands of disabled and older Americans from being uprooted from their homes and into a long-term care facility for their treatments. Approximately 12,000 Texans could take advantage of it in the first year alone.

Perry spokespeople emphasized to Politico that the governor’s support for the program — and the Medicaid funds that make it possible — shouldn’t come as a surprise and doesn’t change his position on the Affordable Care Act.

“Long before Obamacare was forced on the American people, Texas was implementing policies to provide those with intellectual disabilities more community options to enable them to live more independent lives, at a lower cost to taxpayers,” said the spokesperson in a statement. “The Texas Health and Human Services Commission will continue to move forward with these policies because they are right for our citizens and our state, regardless of whatever funding schemes may be found in Obamacare.”

Advocates for the poor and disabled who support expanding Community First Choice under Obamacare were apprehensive to even talk about the program’s relation to the health law out of fear that Texas officials would back out of their funding bid over political considerations.

“It would be worse than a shame if Texas’s moving ahead with [Community First Choice and Balancing Incentive Program] policies — both are from the ACA — was hurt as the result of scrutiny from a press inquiry,” one Texas advocate told Politico.

Maybe it's high time for two Americas. One for Texas and the haters of the US Government, and a separate one for people who don't leave their brothers and sisters out in the cold to die - to line the pockets of corporations.

Most Talibangelicals speak with a forked tongue, Perry is no different. It seems the only talent needed to be the governor is being able to talk out of both sides of your mouth and your ass the same time.

With regards to Perry's "intellectual disabilities" comment, is there a more intellectually challenged Governor in these United States than Perry? Me thinks not!

IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA, BUT I'LL DO IT ANYWAY

Teahadist leader Sen. Rand Paul said on Sunday that he doesn't think it’s a good idea to shut down the government over the funding of Obamacare, but that he is hoping his party does it anyway.

Paul has been one of the leading people calling on Congress to block a resolution that would fund the government unless money for Obamacare is not included in the bill. He was one of the fifteen senators to sign onto a letter vowing to block funding the health care law. But on Sunday, Paul told Fox News Sunday that, “I don’t think shutting down the government is a good idea.”

Still, Paul went on, “I do think that we were elected, conservatives were elected, to try to stop this overreach, this government takeover of healthcare,” and so “we should use the leverage of controlling one-third of the government… to at the very least make that law less bad, delay it, do something we can to protect the American public from the law.”

Acknowledging that support for a shutdown isn’t broad enough in the Senate, Paul said that his colleagues in the House of Representatives should instead be the ones to make defunding the health law a priority: “We don’t control all of the government, but Republicans control the House of Representatives, they should stand up, use that power to at the very least make that law less bad, delay it, do something we can to protect the American public from the law,”Paul said. If the Republicans in the House try to defund the law, the two chambers of Congress could conference on a bill that may defund some parts of Obamacare. The House of Representatives has voted 40 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but have never been successful, and Republicans have not presented an alternative bill.

Paul’s more tentative language indicates that, like the leadership of his party, he is trying to seem reasonable about what could be a devastating shutdown, while still playing to his base that supports repealing the law. Putting the onus onto the lower chamber to cause shutdown chaos allows Paul to escape some of the political damage that might come from it. A shutdown could potentially furlough 800,000 government employees, and cause chaos for public services around the country.

HEADLINES READ: "The Republican National Committee has approved a resolution to block two television networks from hosting GOP presidential primary debates."

Friday's vote affirms RNC chairman Reince Priebus's (ryns PREE'-bus) threat against CNN and NBC unless the networks drop plans to air programs about possible Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton. The vote at the committee's summer meeting in Boston was unanimous.

Priebus said that the networks have, quote, "an obvious bias."

Even before the Clinton dispute, Republican leaders favored plans to have fewer presidential debates with more friendly moderators. They believe their 2012 presidential candidates spent too much time beating up each other in last year's months-long primary season, which contributed to Mitt Romney's loss.

Who loses in this instance!? Certainly this is a win-win for the entire country! Less people to see them, the less votes they get, means no white house for them.

They know they can't stop the Hillary machine, so I'll take my ball and run! At least when Michael Steele ran the RNC they made some simile of sense, now the idiots take stupid to its highest level!

That Awkward Moment When Racism Doesn't Exist...........

OBAMA RODEO CLOWN

........and then a Missouri crowd cheers for a rodeo clown in an Obama mask to be trampled by a bull.

Officials from the Missouri State Fair are busy putting out fires after the organizers of the fair’s bull riding exhibit brought a clown in an Obama mask into the ring and goaded the bull into chasing him around the enclosure.

Videos of the racially-charged incident began circulating across local news organizations shortly after it took place on Saturday evening, and public consternation was quickly followed by condemnations from Republican Party officials and lawmakers across the state.

The Kansas City Star described what transpired:

“The announcer wanted to know if anyone would like to see Obama run down by a bull,” the posting said. “The crowd went wild. He asked it again and again, louder each time, whipping the audience into a lather.” 

Another clown then apparently joined the performance. 

“One of the clowns ran up and started bobbling the lips on the mask and the people went crazy,” the posting said. “Finally a bull came close enough to him that he had to move so he jumped up and ran away to the delight of the onlookers hooting and hollering from the stands.”

The annual state fair is held in Sedalia, a small, deep-red town less than 100 miles outside of Kansas City. Republican Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder quickly responded to the incident via Twitter, writing “I condemn the actions disrespectful to POTUS the other night. We are better than this.” Democrats from U.S Senator Claire McCaskill to Governor Jay Nixon also expressed disappointment and outrage after the incident.

A similar incident occurred at another rodeo last year, where a rodeo clown in California was fired after telling a racist joke about Michelle Obama posing nude for National Geographic.

Officials from the state fair issued a public statement via its Facebook page on Sunday evening, calling the performance “inappropriate and disrespectful.”

Let's face it readers , if your going to a state fair for class, especially Missouri - good luck with that!

Well, the "War on Women" worked so well for the "Teahadists", as did the "War on Voter Suppression," why not a "War on Sex?"

Walk into any eleventh grade classroom in Virginia. If Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R-VA) has his way, close to forty percent of the students will be felony sex offenders.

Dahlia Lithwick breaks down the implications of Cuccinelli’s plan in a must-read piece over at Slate. In short, Cuccinelli’s petition asking the Supreme Court to reinstate much of Virginia’s so-called “crimes against nature” law — which criminalizes oral and anal sex — is unlikely to impact adults who have sex with adults because the Court’s previous decision in Lawrence v. Texas held that the Constitution protects non-commercial sexual activity among adults. The tea partying attorney general’s petition, however, largely relies on a line in Lawrence suggesting that underage sexual activity can still be criminalized.

As Lithwick notes, “44 percent of males and 42 percent of females between the ages of 15 and 17 have engaged in oral sex in the United States.” While it’s undoubtedly true that a minority of these teenagers are engaged in oral sex with someone much older, the overwhelming majority of them are partnering with each other. And since Cuccinelli’s proposed rule would make no exception for teens who have oral sex with other teens, every single high school student who does so would become a felon and a sex offender.

Once again - the goal is zero sex. It's not Christian like, and therefore it is not legal. As we all know, laws in the US are based on the Republican Bible or Republican Jesus- the one where Jesus loves guns and profit, and even prophesies the Coming Of Saint Ronald.

With the grafting scandal of Virginia's Governor Transvaginal Bob - If we find out that the Governor received sodomy as a gift, would Ken Cuccinelli then ask him to step down, arrest him, jail him, and file him with the State Police registrar as a sexual predator and deviant?

John Oliver continued to lament having to talk about the 2016 election, which is over three years away, but the media is already on the case, wildly speculating on who will run, when, and starting in which states. Oliver mocked the potential “clown car” of candidates, gave viewers a brief 2012 flashback, and proceeded to tear apart the “Sharknado of voter suppression” Republicans are engaging in after the Supreme Court struck down a provision of the Voting Rights Act.

Oliver mocked Ted Cruz‘s reassurances that the fact he was born in Canada will not be a problem for GOP voters *cough*birthers*cough*, and practically begged Donald Trump to get in the race. Oliver reassured voters that the “clown car” is never full and more outlandish candidates like, let’s say, Herman Cain, could jump into the race.

Oliver then turned to the voting laws being put into effect in Republican states, from Florida, “where your grandparents and your rights go to die,” to North Carolina, where voting laws are evidently so severe, all voting booths are now “on buoys that are only accessible by yacht.”

Oliver slammed each of the justifications provided for North Carolina’s strict voting laws, and after recapping exactly how ridiculous they are, he could only conclude, “Your move, South Carolina.”

Will McAvoy [Jeff Daniels] In The Newsroom

Will McAvoy [Jeff Daniels], the TV anchor in HBO's series Newsroom, took to slamming the American Taliban in episode 3 last Sunday. The series, as far as cable or regular TV goes, is by far written better than anything else, there is no comparison - as it takes real life portrayals - and is then incorporated into the show.

Typical, masterful Aaron Sorkin, is in this scene posted below.

Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann thinks our troops are the best: "They are the best. This is the easiest thing to get behind. It doesn't get any better to help our troops when they are literally on the lines fighting for our freedom."

Presidential candidate Herman Cain will not apologize for having the biggest, baddest, greatest military on the planet: "And I don't apologize for having the biggest, baddest, greatest military on the planet."

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney would like the rest of us to support the troops even more than we already do: "I think it's time for American citizens and politicians to show a surge of support and for us to reach out to our neighbors who are serving in the military."

And presidential candidate Rick Santorum marvels as we all do at the selfless act of volunteering to serve in a time of war: "We have a culture right now that doesn't say serve. It doesn't say don't think about yourself. It says, 'Me, me, me.' It's a very self-absorbed, me-centered, excessive popular culture. And yet we have brave men and women who are willing to step forward because they know what's at stake. They're willing to sacrifice their lives for this great country."

Stephen Hill is a decorated captain in the US Army, where he's been a reservist for 20 years. He is this very night serving in combat in Iraq, as he was last night when he asked this question via YouTube at the GOP debate in Orlando, Florida:

"In 2010, when I was deployed to Iraq, I had to lie about who I was because I'm a gay soldier and I didn't want to lose my job. My question is, under one of your presidencies, do you intend to circumvent the progress that's been made for gay and lesbian soldiers in the military?"

That was a big room full of Republican primary voters booing an American combat soldier who, as he was speaking, was in combat. The audience members who were booing were in Orlando. Soon they'll surely be in hell, though not soon enough.

Not everyone was booing. There were people in the audience who heard Captain Hill say that when he was deployed to Iraq, he was worried that if his sexuality was discovered, they might not let him go-- As opposed to most of us who, if told we were being deployed to Iraq, would go Corporal Klinger faster than you can pull on a yellow taffeta picnic dress.
I'm sure there were even some people in the building who stood up for Captain Hill, people who had the simple strength of character to turn to the fraction of a human in the seat next to them and say, "How many different kinds of disgusting do you have to be to boo a man who volunteered to fight and die for you?"

I'm sure those people were there. I'm sure there were many of them. But unfortunately, none of them were on the stage. Not one of these would-be commanders in chief took a moment to stand with a line officer. They let him stand alone.

Soldiers never do that. Leaders never do that. Witless bullies and hapless punks do it all the time.

The only president on the stage last night was Stephen Hill. Godspeed, Captain Hill, and come home soon. A grateful nation is waiting to say thank you.

It goes without saying that we’re all ignorant of all manner of things – the proper way to perform heart surgery, the top five poets in Urdu and Farsi, the agreed-upon hierarchy of distilleries in Scotland, a plethora of subjects. One’s person’s expertise is another’s ignorance.

Stupidity, though, is a different thing from mere ignorance. Stupidity is the condition of preferring ignorance over knowledge, which is what the American Taliban pulls on a daily basis.

Truly toxic stupidity, it seems to me, is not only when ignorance is preferred to knowledge, it’s when the very idea of knowledge itself is actively resented.

And that’s where Sorkin will always piss off those right of center. Sorkin, in his own way, actively resents any knowledge about stupidity and how it actually works in the world. And rightly so, as a consequence, huge sections of the American Taliban –actively resent him pointing out just how truly stupid they really are.

The above clip points to a callous, vile, destructive conservative party. This is the GOP that we have come to know and love. Conservatives despise HBO, Bill Maher, Aaron Sorkin greatly. Take Karen B comments to NFTOS:

another platform to portray over the top liberal views and exposing Sorkin as the hack he is........and always will be. Because the actors spout their lines off harshly and 'seriously', we are supposed to take this drivel as an important landmark in HBO and TV history...Sorkin, get over yourself!

This scene is equivalent to the American Taliban scene from last year. I love these hard hitting truthful scenes - for they allow another nail to be hit squarely on the head of the rusty nasty nail - that is the GOP!
