VRIGINIA, HOW MANY MORE ARE LURKING OUT THERE?

BOB FITZSIMMONDS

Who knew? Who knew just how many radical GOPers resided in the state of Virginia?

Virginia has had its share of lunatics this week oozing from the annuls of the slimy cesspool that is the Virginia GOP. Mark Obenshain, E.W. Jackson [ my personal favorite VA American Talibaner] and now, yet another believer - that pasty white old fashioned neocons - should have the right to be in women's vagina.

American Taliban of Virginia Treasurer Bob FitzSimmonds, a former aide to and “very close friend” of gubernatorial nominee Ken Cuccinelli II (R), told Virginia blogger Ben Tribbett that he is “not a big fan of contraception, frankly.”

FitzSimmonds — who was Cuccinelli’s legislative director during his time in the Virginia Senate, as well as a multiple-time state senate candidate himself — is the former executive director of what is now the Care Net Pregnancy Help Center and the former chair of the Virginia Crisis Pregnancy Center Directors Association. Crisis Pregnancy Centers are faith-based operations that seek to discourage pregnant women from considering abortion. He created an abstinence-only curriculum for area schools called the “Keep It Simple Say NO abstinence program“.

At last weekend’s state party convention, Tribbett asked FitzSimmon whether he supported the distribution of emergency contraception on college campuses. “I’m not a big fan of contraception, frankly,” the Republican Party official explained. “I think there are some issues, we’re giving morning-after pills to 12-year-olds, and pretty soon I guess we’ll hand them out to babies, I don’t know.”

FitzSimmonds also told Tribbett that sex education has caused the spread of sexually transmitted diseases: “I believe that we don’t recognize the causal effect between the type of sex education that we’ve been giving and the spread of STDs. We focus on things like abortion, cause it’s a big pressure thing. I go into schools 15-20 times a year, I run a non-profit that goes into schools and talks to kids about sex. They’re all abortion and HIV. HIV’s kind of hard to catch. Abortion happens if you get pregnant. But we’re on the track for 50 percent of the American people to have Herpes by the time these kids are my age. And that is a profound — not only health but sociological crisis facing this country.”

FitzSimmonds posted on his Facebook page shortly after last November’s election, “When Obama is 90 years old and he dies and goes to Hell, he is going to say ‘This is all Bush’s fault.’”

Ladies of Virginia and the United States, how you can vote for these overreaching Neanderthal-ish thugs is beyond me. Most women that we speak to are amazed at just how far Virginia's version of the American Taliban will go with the probing of women's vagina's. If your not on-board, then should these radical right wing nut jobs gain the offices they seek, then you truly get what you deserve!

Congratulations Bob FitzSimmonds, on memorial day weekend, you become the third Virginian [GOP version] this week - to be today's worst person in the world.

Woman For Mitt Romney

Woman For Mitt Romney

Republicans are bracing themselves for Gloria Allred to make a potentially damaging revelation about Mitt Romney, just weeks before the election.

The pro-President Obama lawyer is rumored to be preparing for her so-called 'October surprise' in which she will strike the Republican presidential hopeful's chances by unearthing some sort of secret or scandal.

Ms Allred has refused to comment on the rumors, which first surfaced in a tweet by the Drudge Report's Matt Drudge on Thursday.

GLORIA ALLRED

'Here she comes. Hearing Gloria Allred out there again, about to make a move. After all, it's her time of the campaign. Team O at the ready!!' Mr Drudge wrote on Twitter.
According to RadarOnline.com, Ms Allred launched a last minute strike on GOP Meg Whitman's campaign for governor of California by representing a disgruntled former housekeeper.

In the pivotal moments of the campaign, the lawyer wheeled out Nicky Diaz who alleged that she was fired by the Whitman family because she was an illegal immigrant.

Whitman went on to lose the election to Democrat Jerry Brown.

WOMAN FOR MITT

Why I’m voting for Mitt Romney (Parody)

Seriously readers, why would any woman with an intelligence quota above a mushroom vote for Mitt Romney?

Virginia GOP To Next Ban Shoes From Women, Keeping Them Barefoot And Pregnant Is The Rule

VA GOP YOUR ON NOTICE

BREAKING: 2/23/12 17:08  'Personhood' Bill Killed for This Year by Virginia Senate
'Personhood' bill' won't become law in Virginia this year

‘Personhood’ bill killed for this year by Virginia Senate

We have had over 500k hits to our "Virginia approved rape law" blogs these last three days. NFTOS readers have been engaged - thank you for standing up for women! I am often asked why I started NFTOS and blogging. NFTOS' voice is much more powerful than any vote, and our stance on issues like this says "YES WE CAN DEMOCRATS"! I am a proud Democrat living in Virginia!

Thank You ~ West

UPDATE: 2/23/12 13:33 Most people approve of Obama's birth control policy

"The fetus is the property of the entire society."- Nicolae Ceausescu

Ceausescu made mockery of family planning. He forbade sex education, books on human sexuality and reproduction were classified as "state secrets," to be used only as medical textbooks. With contraception banned, Romanians had to smuggle in condoms and birth-control pills. Though strictly illegal, abortions remained a widespread birth-control measure of last resort. Nationwide, Western sources estimate, 60 percent of all pregnancies ended in abortion or miscarriage. ~ Wikipedia

Does the above sound remotely familiar? Yes, current teapublicans in general, more specifically the state of Virginia.

Guns have a Constitutional Amendment protecting them, women on the other hand, no such luck. The ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) has never been ratified, instead the equality of women is "implied". Does it look like women are being treated equally when we have bills being passed all over the country that are focusing only on women? Women make 77 cents for each $1 a man makes, is this truly equality?

Only until we vote smart, will we rid ourselves of the radical pungent Reich - wingers.

Nothing says "big government" like the overreach of Virginia's HB one bill. This is a call to all progressives, get off your posteriors and vote in November.

Racism, sexism, homophobia – they go hand in hand with the GOP, and the people oppressed by them experience them in intersecting ways. Worldwide, women’s human rights are complicated by these intersections.

Like the Virginia bills, anti-miscegenation laws were really not about “morality” or “decency”, but about social order. They’re not about “personhood” but “humanity.” Sex, controlling other people’s private lives, dictating what they do with their bodies and controlling their “place” in society. The more “human” you perceive yourself to be, the more you presume you have authority to tell others how to be and what to do. And, like those laws, these bills are based on ignorance, entitlement and arrogance. After many years, the Loving's won their landmark case and succeeded in finally dismantling shameful government-sanctioned racism in regards to mixed-race marriages."

When will a woman's judgment be trusted, her autonomy be assured?

HEY VIRGINIA

I am a MAN!

I stand up for the inalienable right of women to hold dominion over their reproductive systems.

I stand for the affordable and safe reproductive healthcare.

I stand up to the patriarchal bullies who have enslaved, subjugated, oppressed and marginalized women for millennia.

I do not stand alone.

We are multitudes. We stand with women, not against them. We are men of honor - not sniveling cowards.

Every mother, sister and daughter is a human being.

I vote every chance I get.

End the war on women NOW!

BREAKING: STOP THE WAR ON WOMEN

GOV BOB McDONNELL, STOP THE MADNESS NOW!

By Brian Devine (Contact) Link to petition

To be delivered to: Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, The Virginia State Senate, and Governor Bob McDonnell

"I'm writing to express my opposition to bills before the General Assembly that insert the government into women's private medical decisions. Please oppose HB 1, which would define a fertilized egg as a person and could outlaw abortion under all circumstances and restrict women's access to birth control, and HB 462, which will traumatize women by forcing some to submit to an invasive, transvaginal ultrasound before seeking an abortion.

I've had enough of this war on women and I'm asking you to get back to work on Virginians' priorities: investing in our economic growth, ensuring our kids get an excellent education, and repairing our crumbling transportation infrastructure. We sent you to Richmond to make life better for Virginia families, not make it more difficult for women to access comprehensive reproductive health services."

Virginia may be the butt of jokes for late night comedians, but the bills coming out of the General Assembly this year are no laughing matter. Yesterday, conservatives in the House of Delegates passed HB 1, "personhood" legislation that would grant legal rights to fertilized eggs. This bill seeks to ban safe, legal abortion in all circumstances and threatens women's access to birth control.

Unfortunately, they didn't stop there. Anti-women legislators also passed legislation requiring many women seeking an abortion to undergo an invasive, transvaginal ultrasound. Just in case that wasn't extreme enough, those same legislators rejected a commonsense amendment requiring a woman's consent before she is penetrated with a vaginal ultrasound probe.

This war on women has got to stop. We sent our representatives to Richmond to focus on making our lives better: creating jobs, improving our schools, and fixing our roads. Instead, they've spent their time attacking Virginia families and interfering in women's private medical decisions. Stand up and tell your representatives to stop the conservative war on women and get back to work on our priorities.

HB 1 would make Virginia the first state in the nation to grant "personhood" status to fertilized cells. Make no mistake, this legislation is part of a concerted nationwide strategy to attack women's rights and access to reproductive health care. We have a choice. Virginia can be a casualty of the conservative war on women or we can set an example for the nation and fight back. Stand up and tell Virginia's legislature to stop the war on women in Virginia.

These attacks on women's health aren't just dangerous to continued access to safe, legal abortion. Conservatives across the country have trained their sights on cutting off women's access to comprehensive reproductive health services, from defunding breast exams to limiting access to birth control. We can't let them succeed here.

It's simply really: women's medical decisions about her body should be between her, her family and her doctor. Keep government out of it. Make your voice heard. Stand up and tell Virginia's lawmakers to stop the war on women.
