The rise of Tangerine Palpatine brought with it a new era of political idiocy, where lies and conspiracy theories became mainstream currency for his most fervent supporters. Enter Laura Loomer, a prime example of how far-right grifters, desperate for relevance, latch onto the Tangerine Palpatine train, embracing a "stupidity loop" that keeps misinformation churning for an audience more interested in outrage than reality. The lie that immigrants were eating pets in Springfield, Ohio, perfectly captures this moronic cycle—a tale so absurd it should’ve died instantly, but instead, it spread like wildfire among Tangerine Palpatine supporters, revealing the intellectual rot at the core of MAGA culture.

The so-called pet-eating immigrants' rumor, devoid of any basis in fact, was a symptom of the broader MAGA disease—a pathological need to demonize the "other" to justify their xenophobic and often racist agenda. Instead of embracing reality, Tangerine Palpatine and his followers, including fringe mouthpieces like Loomer, peddled fantasy, doubling down on fabrications because they knew their audience would eat it up. This is the stupidity loop in action: feed the base an outlandish claim, watch as they regurgitate it across social media, and then reinforce the lie with more lies. Facts? Who needs them when ignorance is your currency?

Laura Loomer, is a deviant fuck, a relentless attention-seeker with a penchant for bigotry, epitomizes this loop. Her career is a cesspool of Islamophobia, immigrant-bashing, and sheer idiocy. She has never let truth get in the way of a good grift, and Trumpism provided her with the perfect audience—people who are not only willing but eager to believe the most asinine, fact-free claims. The idea that immigrants are coming to America to feast on household pets is so patently ridiculous, yet in the MAGA echo chamber, it became just one more "truth" in their alternate universe where Trump walks on water and immigrants are demonic invaders.

This idiocy isn’t harmless. It's part of the calculated narrative that Tangerine Palpatine and his minions, including Loomer, use to manipulate their followers. The Springfield pet-eating hoax was deployed to whip up fear, making immigrants out to be savage threats to American life. But the real savagery is the intellectual wasteland that Trump and his cult-like movement have created, where followers reject reality for the comforting delusion that they’re the last bastion of civilization, fighting off hordes of barbaric invaders. It’s as stupid as it sounds, but MAGA thrives on stupidity.

Tangerine Palpatine, of course, has mastered the stupidity loop. From his claims that Mexico would pay for the wall to his constant fearmongering about immigrant "rapists" and "criminals," he’s built his empire on lies. When a figure like Laura Loomer amplifies these falsehoods, she’s just one more cog in the MAGA machine—a machine that runs on ignorance, paranoia, and racism. The Springfield lie was another tool in Tangerine Palpatine's arsenal to stoke division, and Loomer was only too happy to carry the torch, proving once again that in Tangerine Palpatine’s America, stupidity isn’t a bug; it’s a feature.

The fact that so many people bought into the idea of immigrants eating pets reveals the intellectual bankruptcy of MAGA world. These are the same people who believe Tangerine Palpatine’s election was stolen, despite all evidence to the contrary, and that COVID-19 was a hoax. Loomer, who thrives on the paranoia of these people, knows exactly what she’s doing. She doesn’t care about truth or integrity. Like Tangerine Palpatine, she’s playing to the lowest common denominator, banking on the fact that there’s always a large segment of the population ready to believe the most ridiculous, xenophobic garbage if it aligns with their fears.

But let’s not kid ourselves—this stupidity isn’t accidental. It’s intentional. Tangerine Palpatine, Loomer, and their ilk actively cultivate this culture of ignorance because it keeps their base loyal, angry, and, most importantly, distracted from the real issues. When Tangerine Palpatine rails against immigrants or Loomer spews her bile about Muslims, they aren’t offering solutions. They’re creating scapegoats, diverting attention from their own failures by manufacturing crises that don’t exist. Immigrants aren’t eating pets in Ohio, but why let that stop the stupidity train?

The stupidity loop goes like this: someone like Loomer or Tangerine Palpatine throws out a blatantly false, inflammatory statement, it gets picked up by right-wing media, spreads like a virus through MAGA social circles, and by the time it’s debunked, it doesn’t matter because the lie has already served its purpose. In this case, the lie was meant to demonize immigrants further, reinforcing the ridiculous notion that America is under siege by foreign hordes who don’t share our values. In truth, it’s the MAGA crowd that doesn’t share American values—values like truth, integrity, and basic decency.

Loomer’s career is the perfect testament to this stupidity loop. Despite being banned from multiple social media platforms for hate speech and misinformation, she still found a home among Tangerine Palpatine’s die-hard followers. Why? Because in MAGA world, facts are irrelevant, and the more outrageous the claim, the more likely it is to be believed. It’s not that Tangerine Palpatine and Loomer are misinformed or misguided—they know exactly what they’re doing. They’re cynically manipulating the stupidity of their base to maintain power, profit, and relevance. 

Ultimately, the pet-eating immigrant lie in Springfield wasn’t just a random hoax—it was a strategic deployment of disinformation in the service of a broader agenda. Tangerine Palpatine, Loomer, and their followers are engaged in a battle against reality itself, using the stupidity loop to keep their base in a perpetual state of fear and anger. It’s a strategy that worked for Tangerine Palpatine throughout his presidency, and figures like Loomer are more than happy to continue the cycle. The result is a political landscape where truth is dead, and the only thing that matters is how many people you can convince to believe your lies.

In this idiotic world, it’s not surprising that a rumor as absurd as immigrants eating pets gained traction. What’s surprising is that there’s still a sizable portion of America willing to believe it, proving once again that in Tangerine Palpatine’s MAGA dystopia, stupidity isn’t just encouraged—it’s mandatory.

To the surprise of no one, the Republicans’ four-year partisan inquisition surrounding the terrorist attack on the American compound in Benghazi, Libya - the conspiracy theory has ended in a crash and burn catastrophe . With the House Select Committee on Benghazi finally releasing its findings, and the report representing the eighth and (likely) final government investigation into the deadly event, the Benghazi hoax, as sponsored by Fox News for four years, finally comes to an impotent and ignominious end.

This latest report has provided nothing, a total of 15 million dollars of tax payers dollars wasted on a witch-hunt - which was to derail a Clinton bid for presidency.

So if Benghazi wasn't used as an election year theatrics against the Democrats, what has been the point of committee chairman Trey Gowdy’s lame assed extended inquiry?

Anybody with an IQ above -500 realized that the final GOP Benghazi report, with its 2016 summertime release, was designed to disrupt Clinton’s White House run. Why else would the committee’s work be extended for two-plus years when it likely could have been completed in six or seven months?

KATRINA PIERSON LUNATIC FRINGE POSER

Extreme Nutter Katrina Pierson, Clownstick's mouth piece - facts are emerging that Pierson is a unemployment cheat and agenda 21 conspiracy theorist.

While much of the recent attention surrounding Katrina Pierson has focused on her bullet necklace, the national spokesperson for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has also come under scrutiny for both improperly claiming unemployment benefits and pushing the “Agenda 21” conspiracy theory.

According to the National Journal, Pierson received $11,440 in benefits between 2012 and 2013, when she did volunteer work for Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) run for office. However, state rules say that anyone receiving unemployment should be actively looking for a paid position while doing so.

The Texas Observer reported last year that in 2011, Pierson led classes for Waco Tea Party members warning them about “Agenda 21,” a popular conservative conspiracy theory claiming that a nonbinding plan approved by United Nations officials in 1992 was really a vehicle for the organization to seize control of the US.

Pierson told the Observer that she led similar discussions in Arizona, Washington D.C., Kansas and several other states and considered it her full-time job, arguing that “[when] you realize that you’ve been lied to your whole life, it’s an eye-opening experience.”

The Journal also noted that Pierson turned against Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) for supporting Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) bid for the GOP nomination, just two months after publicly praising him to fellow Tea Party supporters.

Pierson complained on Twitter that Gowdy “lost all cred­ib­il­ity when he nom­in­ated John Boehner for Speak­er so he’s per­fect for Marco Ru­bio.” But on Oct. 26, an email in Pierson’s name went out seeking help “drafting” Gowdy to become House Speaker, despite the fact that Gowdy stated he was not interested in the position.

“These outside groups use members’ names, not just his, without their knowledge and mislead people to think they support or are connected to a group when they are not,” a spokesperson for Gowdy said after reading the email.

Pierson joined Trump’s campaign two weeks after that email was sent.

A lawyer who’s representing the family of Syed Farook raised Sandy Hook truther conspiracy theories to question the official account of the San Bernardino mass shooting.

The 28-year-old Farook and his wife, 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik, were killed Wednesday evening in a gun battle with police, hours after they opened fire on his colleagues during a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center.

Attorney David Chesley said investigators had suggested that the shootings were part of a workplace dispute by a disgruntled employee, but he suggested authorities had planted evidence or made up claims about the couple’s actions, reported the Daily Mail.

“It doesn’t seem plausible to us that this petite woman (Malik) would be involved in this sort of hyper-caricatured, Bonnie and Clyde crazy scenario,” Chesley said. “There were a lot of questions drawn with Sandy Hook and whether or not that was a real incident or not. But, I mean, obviously these things were found there, how they got there we don’t know.”

Conspiracy theorists such as Alex Jones and some firearms advocates have claimed the Dec. 14, 2012, school shootings that killed 20 children and six teachers were an elaborate hoax intended to usher in stricter gun control laws.

“There has been a lot speculation about it is all I would say,” Chesley said, when asked if he was a Sandy Hook truther. “There’s a lot of people that said it happened, but hasn’t happened in the way that it was purported to have taken place. There’s no question that incidents have taken place and evidence was found but we just question some of that.”

FUCKFACE VON CLOWNSTICK TURNS TO CONSPIRACY GROUP FOR HIS BS

For the past several days, Fuckface Von Clownstick [AKA Donald Trump] has claimed that “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating the fall of the Twin Towers on 9/11.

The claim has been thoroughly debunked by multiple fact checkers. The New Jersey Attorney General investigated rumors of such celebrations immediately after the attack and found them to be “bogus.” Simply put, it did not happen.

Nevertheless, Trump is sticking to his story. On Wednesday night, Trump tweeted this to support his point:

Trump links to Infowars.com, a conspiracy website that pushes the idea that 9/11 was an inside job.

According to Infowars, the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary was a hoax, FEMA is setting up concentration camps and Andrew Breitbart was assassinated to prevent the release of damaging information about Barack Obama.

Even Infowars’ article doesn't support Trump’s claim that thousands of Muslims were celebrating on 9/11. It’s simply a woman who claims she saw a “pocket” of Muslims celebrating. Similar claims were investigated and found not to be credible.

Trump’s tweet came on a day when he also publicly mocked a reporter’s physical disability.

His antics, however, do not seem to be hurting his standings in the polls. Trump currently leads the Republican primary by 8 points and holds leads in the key early states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

On Friday, a gunman “pulled a Smith & Wesson .223-caliber assault rifle from his duffel bag” and opened fire on an airport. Officials have arrested the alleged shooter, 23-year-old Paul Ciancia, who killed a TSA agent and wounded six others at a security checkpoint. The incident is the second airport shooting in six months.

The National Rifle Association has not yet said a word on the tragedy (the day before, the NRA tweeted a story about the so-called “exploitation” of Sandy Hook). But in the past, the NRA has vigorously campaigned to make it easier to bring firearms into airports and criticized TSA agents for their aggressive efforts to ensure guns don’t make it onto a plane. Federal law prevents all travelers from transporting firearms beyond checkpoints (they must be unloaded, checked, and declared in luggage), but the NRA has been a force in weakening state law to permit guns before the security checkpoint.

Advance laws that allow guns in airport terminals.
Over the last decade, the NRA has repeatedly lobbied against airport firearm restrictions. According to the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, states including Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin either expressly allow firearms in specific sections or only prohibit firearms in airports beyond checkpoints.

And in California in 2012, the NRA formally opposed Assembly Bill 2182, which would have required a person be arrested if they brought a firearm into the airport and ban them from entering in the future. The bill never moved from committee. More recently, bills introduced in Virginia, Georgia, and Ohio would allow people to carry their weapons inside.

Intimidate TSA agents for aggressively screening for guns.
When the TSA subjected a girl carrying a firearm-shaped purse to extra questioning, the NRA responded that this extra precaution constituted harassment. “We shouldn’t be surprised that security personnel who see nothing wrong with humiliating 85-year-old women at our nation’s airports might see a teenage girl sporting a purse with a firearm motif as a potential danger,” NRA President David Keene said said at the time. “But it should upset us as much as it did her and her parents.” The extra scrutiny may be needed: TSA agents have confiscated 30 percent more guns from passengers, many of them loaded, in 2013 compared to last year. Most travelers say they “forgot” they had the firearm, which has made sociologists think the trend is a result of people being permitted to carry their guns virtually anywhere.

Endorse candidates who oppose limiting guns at airports.
The NRA’s “A-rated” allies are trying to make it even easier to access guns in airports. Virginia Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli and Virginia Attorney General candidate Mark Obenshain voted against a 2004 bill banning guns in airport terminals (it passed anyway). The NRA has spent more than $500,000 to make Cuccinelli Virginia’s next governor.

The NRA will likely argue that this shooting is more proof guns restrictions should be weakened, not strengthened in public areas, since a bystander could intervene in a shooting. All the best research points to this being even more dangerous.

Why do conservatives worry so much about people who get get food stamps and not worry about guns being in the wrong hands?

Conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones explained to his audience today how the government could have been behind the devastating May 20 tornado in Oklahoma.

On the May 21 edition of The Alex Jones Show, a caller asked Jones whether he was planning to cover how government technology may be behind a recent spate of sinkholes. After laying out how insurance companies use weather modification to avoid having to pay ski resorts for lack of snow, Jones said that "of course there's weather weapon stuff going on -- we had floods in Texas like fifteen years ago, killed thirty-something people in one night. Turned out it was the Air Force."

Following a long tangent, Jones returned to the caller's subject. While he explained that "natural tornadoes" do exist and that he's not sure if a government "weather weapon" was involved in the Oklahoma disaster, Jones warned nonetheless that the government "can create and steer groups of tornadoes."

According to Jones, this possibility hinges on whether people spotted helicopters and small aircraft "in and around the clouds, spraying and doing things." He added, "if you saw that, you better bet your bottom dollar they did this, but who knows if they did. You know, that's the thing, we don't know."

INFOWARS

In April, Jones garnered attention for labeling the Boston Marathon bombings a "false flag" event staged by the U.S. government. Over the years, Jones has endorsed a wide array of paranoid conspiracies, including alleging that the U.S. government carried out or was somehow involved in the 9-11 attacks, the Oklahoma City bombing, and recent mass shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary school and the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado.

Despite his well-publicized career of pushing conspiracies, Jones is regularly validated by media figures and conservative politicians. Jones' biggest ally has been Matt Drudge, whose heavily trafficked Drudge Report website has linked to at least 244 different articles at Jones' Infowars website since April 2011.

In the midst of the controversy over Jones' comments about the Boston bombings, Drudge announced that he had "privately told friends" that 2013 would be the "year of Alex Jones."

Like Dana Loesch et al, Jones is carny, and what worries me is not the bullshit that these radical GOPers spew, but it is the number of Rubes on the Midway who are buying what they are selling!

Since the election of President Obama, the American Taliban has been OCD [Obsessive-compulsive disorder] with scandals and conspiracies. The list of darts to throw at the President on any given day is a plethora if you are a GOPer.

If you spend every hour of your working life inventing new ways to attack Barack Obama or the government [or both], this is a very good week for you — or at least it should be. After wallowing through the deserts of Benghazi and Fast and Furious for four years, trying to extract any tiny drop of scandal from stone, now suddenly comes gold from the heavens, courtesy of the IRS and its misguided attempt to prevent political groups from taking advantage of the non-profit tax code. Then, even before your salad is done, the Department of Justice snoops on reporters. Hallelujah to the Republican God Ronald Reagan! The Promised Land of Impeachment can’t be far off.

Three scandals in a period of seven days, the mother load has cometh for the American Taliban.

Unfortunately, as with most of these stories, same ole shit just a different political party. Before we start urinating our pants and dancing in the streets with "we got him this time", let's autopsy what we know.

Yes 4 Americans died, and that is a tragedy, but making up shit so that you have something against the President doesn't work, because as always, facts out trump bullshit any day of the week. 74% of the American Taliban think that Benghazi is worse than Watergate and Iran - Contra. The kicker to this stat is - that 39% of the 74% cannot tell you where Benghazi is. Really? If your going to call bullshit, shouldn't you at least know where bullshit is?

In breaking news: the Benghazi "Scandal" - Jack Tapper of CNN exposed ABC - as an email found by Tapper shows that ABC edited their content to make the President look bad. Here is the Tapper release as it was sent out last night.

This latest bit of information shows just how low the American Taliban will go to discredit the President, and this disgusting signal, is as disturbing as the party itself. Of late, the American Taliban's motto is, if we can't hit the goal, move the goal post so that we can hit the target. A disgusting pattern of shoot first and ask queries later.

Nope, I'm not going to defend the IRS, which appears to have acted in ways wholly inconsistent with their mandate for unbiased investigations into, in this case, whether certain political groups should receive tax-exempt status. It is unclear how high up the chain of command these untoward actions went, but this morning's news suggests it wasn't just a few rogue auditors in Cincinnati.

The problem wasn't that the agency scrutinized these so-called "social welfare" organizations -- as I'll emphasize in a moment, tax law in this area is an accident going out to happen. It's that they violated neutrality, investigating conservative groups by searching on "tea party" and "patriot."

Republicans will of course try to pin this on the president, despite the fact that since Nixon used the IRS to target his enemies, the president's been barred from even discussing this kind of thing with the agency.

No, the problem here isn't the president. It's the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision and subsequent tax law written by Congress that gives these groups tax exempt status (under rule 501(c)(4)) as long as most of their activities are primarily on educating the public about policy issues, not direct campaigning.

Of course, the ambiguities therein are insurmountable. Many of these groups, especially the big ones, spend millions on campaign ads mildly disguised as "issue ads," and under current law they can do so limitlessly and with impunity.

According to today's NYT:

The tax code states that 501(c)(4)'s must operate "exclusively" to promote social welfare, a category that excludes political spending. Some court decisions have interpreted that language to mean that a minimal amount of political spending would be permissible. But the I.R.S. has for years maintained that groups meet that rule as long as they are not "primarily engaged" in election work, a substantially different threshold.

Nowhere do the rules specify what "primarily engaged" means...

Again, I see no way that a government agency could fairly interpret and enforce these instructions. What is "primarily engaged"-at which point does an issue ad cross the threshold into campaign ad -- what kind of "education" is GPS Crossroads providing and how is it promoting "social welfare?"

Weirdly, the IRS hasn't seemed particularly interested in going after the big fish here, like Rove's Crossroads GPS on the right or Priorities USA on the left. Instead, they appear to have systematically targeted small fry on the far right. If so, not only is that clearly biased and unacceptable -- it's also ridiculous given the magnitude of the violations of tax exempt status by these small groups relative to the big ones.

At the end of the day, we should really ask ourselves what societal purpose is being served here by carving out special tax status for any of these groups. If anyone can show me any evidence that the revenue forgone is well spent, that these groups are making our political system and our country better off, please do so. If not, then no one's saying shut them down -- they've got a right to speak their minds. But not tax free.

Fact: Mitch McConnell used to be suspicious of the same 501(c)(4) groups that the IRS targeted.

Dear Tea Baggers, It sucks when you're unfairly treated because of prejudices about your name and appearance - see how things tend to come full circle?


All three of the scenarios above also happened on G.W. Bush's watch. The problem with the comparisons are, that under Bush, not a republican raised an eyebrow to complain, to impeach, nor did they attempt to drag any senior government official through the mud.

If I had advice to give to the tea baggers, I would say - number one rule in maintaining your narrative in a political stance, Stop accepting new information when the tide of facts turns contrary to your agenda.

At the very least the American Taliban suffers from Bushnesia, at its worst, they are the diabolical party that we see on Cable news on a nightly bases, lying, deceiving, hypocrisy of the highest order. The key to all these "scandals and conspiracies" is to dissect facts from bullshit, let the whole story play itself out before jumping the C&S freight train!

The IRS has always been a deviant entity, whether under Democratic rule or the American Taliban - freedom of press, its been a source of problematic issues since our countries inception, hence why the founders addressed it in the first amendment.

At the end of the day the American Taliban has what they want, "lame street medias" attention, Obama is engaged and taking action. The time for the narrative of "media bias" is no more, at least for the IRS and AP stories.

PLAYING WITH FIRE

Rachel Maddow opened her show last night taking on the conspiracy theories coming out of the woodwork to claim the Boston Marathon bombing was an inside job by the U.S. government designed to strip Americans of their liberties. Ordinarily fringe conspiracists wouldn't be worth giving credence to, but Maddow noticed how the conspiracies and those pushing the conspiracies are being embraced by elements of conservative media, including one of the most influential sites on the internet. Maddow argued that influential conservative media now are just abandoning all pretense and “full-on embracing the conspiracy theorists.”

Maddow brought up the false flag, government destruction theories being pushed by InfoWars and its star figure, Alex Jones. You remember Alex Jones, the crazy guy who went ballistic on Piers Morgan? Well, he’s been out in full force again, but this time it’s coupled with an endorsement by none other than Matt Drudge.

With regards to Alex Jones, he is clearly off his rocker, having written about this douche bag numerous times, he is the guy who bashes his country in one breath and in the next is the first when in a situation - to have his testicle tucked under his posterior hiding behind the government he despise so much. But the madness is not just limited to Jones, and Maddow showed off the ramblings of one teapublican New Hampshire state representative who posted a link to Jones’ conspiracy on Glenn Beck‘s Facebook page. This is an elected official who thinks it’s worth asking if the government bombed Boston.

Glenn Beckistan is barely a step up from Alex Jones, and Faux News -  just a tick mark above Beckistan,  all of their fans are the same sort of preppers and doomers - the unlettered dimwits that we all have come to know and love and see on Faux News on a daily basis.

If this wasn't enough, four teapublican congressmen wrote a letter to Homeland Security to request they investigate what basically amounts to another conspiracy theory. The American Taliban [GOP] has always coddled this ideal, but now it’s slowly seeping into more mainstream outlets. The American Taliban embraces conspiracy theories like a crack head does crack.

Faux News is no angel in this process, and while I wish I could say they have taken the right-wing nut jobs to a new low - but we need to realize that nothing is beneath these unlettered sociopaths, nor is there anything beyond their pale.

Here is theory that some Congressional Republicans believe: The Obama Administration intentionally handed over automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels, who they knew would commit violent acts, because they wanted to scare Americans into supporting stricter gun laws.

That supposed series of events has now led Congress to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt.

Holder is caught up in a scandal over what happened during Operation Fast and Furious, one in a series of efforts started under former President Bush, in which firearms owned by the U.S. government are intentionally sold to criminals with the hopes that they can be traced back, and criminal activity can be monitored. One such firearm turned up at the crime scene where border patrol agent Brian Terry was killed.

Republicans cite the case as a national security issue, but they’ve simultaneously turned it into an indictment over what they believe is a conspiracy aimed at taking away their own firearms. They argue that this was all a ploy to expose how dangerous guns can be. Here are the facts you should know about the conspiracy, and who’s behind it:

The man who started the conspiracy theory also rallied people to break congressional windows. Mike Vanderboegh, a man who once called for militias to break the windows of members of Congress because of the passage of the Affordable Care Act, started this conspiracy theory. Rachel Maddow uncovered that Vanderboegh has been encouraging members of Congress to embrace the theory.

Major Republicans, including Darrell Issa, endorse this conspiracy theory. Among those are Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who is Chair of the House Oversight Committee and is heading up the investigation of Eric Holder. In an interview on FOX, Issa said, “very clearly, they made a crisis, and they’re using this crisis to somehow take away or limit people’s Second Amendment rights.” He also pushed the theory at an NRA convention. But Issa isn’t the only one who is buying in: former Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich just two days ago agreed with the theory. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), and many other Republicans have voiced support for this theory too.

The NRA is driving the conspiracy theory paranoia though ads. The National Rifle Association is furthering the paranoia as a way to rally gun owners by running advertisements and a petition calling on President Obama to fire Eric Holder. The ads don’t specifically mention the gun control conspiracy, but the Executive Director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action is a full-throttle conspiracy believer. The NRA also threatened members of Congress who voted on the contempt charge yesterday, saying that a vote against contempt wouldreflect poorly on that member’s pro-gun ratings.

Conspiracy theorists blame Holder for a new gun law he didn’t make. Even if one were to believe the vast conspiracy theory, a linchpin in the theorists’ argument is based on a false premise. They say that recently Holder ordered the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) to report anyone who bought more than one large gun in five day as a way to track American gun owners. In reality, ATF made a request about reporting gun purchases and the Justice Department only approved it after a delay.

Issa defended Bush for the same thing of which he is accusing Holder. Issa has been tearing apart Holder for not wanting to hand over private communications from the Justice Department that could compromise ongoing criminal investigations. But when George Bush refused to do the same thing in 2007, Issa blasted the move as a “political witch hunt.”

Last year the Vice President of the NRA said that there is “a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment.” This conspiracy theory feeds directly into that sentiment. But there is absolutely no evidence that the President has any intention of tightening gun laws. In fact, he’s loosening regulations on firearm exports.

"Agenda 21" is one of a number of silly but dangerous conspiracy theories sweeping through the fever sewer swamps of the political right.... Agenda 21 is just a blueprint for sustainable development, especially in emerging economies. It outlines how wealthier countries can contribute to smarter growth through technology transfers and public education. It stresses the importance of fighting deforestation and conserving bio-diversity -- all things that normal people would consider wise. But hey we are dealing with the "know nothings" right?

Consider what's happening right here in my own back yard -Virginia's Middle Peninsula, which is on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, which is among the areas in the U.S. most vulnerable to climate change. Earlier this month, Darryl Fears, reporting for the Washington Post, offered a glimpse into the madness that city planners have faced in recent months as a local tea bagging group, convinced that a nefarious plot by scientists and city officials is afoot, have disrupted their work trying to mitigate the potential impacts of rising sea levels.

My local teabaggers (Gloucester Virginia) have been flocking in droves to the Agenda 21 bandwagon. It's caused a few feathers to be ruffled in my area - an area that is normally your everyday dull city planning and board meetings which contain nonessential ordinances . As Stephanie Mencimer reported for Mother Jones, "Agenda 21 paranoia has swept the teapublican scene, driving activists around the country to delve into the minutiae of local governance... they're descending on planning meetings and transit debates, wielding PowerPoints about Agenda 21, and generally freaking out low-level bureaucrats with accusations about their roles in a supposed international conspiracy."

The truth about AGENDA 21:

"The important thing to understand readers about Agenda 21 is that there is absolutely nothing binding or compelling member countries to implement any part of it. It's not a treaty -- it is entirely voluntary and certainly doesn't have any connection to local governments. Yet for the teapublcians, with its long John Birch Society undercurrent of paranoia about international institutions, Agenda 21 represents some kind of dark UN conspiracy to impose socialism on the "free world."

On Glenn Beck's radio show, the 'beckistan" responded to those accusing him of wild “conspiracy theories” connecting the extreme left and extreme Islam in the wake of the Egyptian unrest — and he used three simple, succinct sentences to do so:

“I want the left to know, I plant my flag in this soil. If I’m wrong, so be it,” he said before laying out his case. “And you can discredit me all you want for the end of time, but I’m telling you I’m not wrong on this one. And there are three points that I want to make sure are very clear.”

Sentence one: “Groups from the hardcore socialist left, and extreme Islam will work together because of the common enemy of Israel.”

Sentence two: “Groups from the hardcore socialist left and extreme Islam will work together because of the common enemy of capitalism.”

Sentence three: “Groups from the hardcore socialist left, and extreme Islam will work together to overturn relative stability, because in the status quo, they are both ostracized from power and the mainstream in most of the world.”

I guess that just about sums it up readers. Don't leave your home, hoard food, weapons, and a Glenn Beck survival kit so that your assured to endure the plethora of teabagging conspiracy theories to hit your community.

Yet Another Conspiracy To Add To The Mix

Paranoid NRA chief says: Obama leaving gun owners alone is ‘Conspiracy’ to take away guns.

Paranoid and baseless accusations that Democrats are trying to destroy the Second Amendment is nothing new for Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association. This is the man who, after the January Tuscon shooting claimed six lives, rejected President Obama’s offer to come to the White House for a closed door meeting to discuss solutions to gun violence in America.

“Why should I or the N.R.A. go sit down with a group of people that have spent a lifetime trying to destroy the Second Amendment in the United States?” he asked. LaPierre conveniently ignores the fact Obama is a supporter of the Second Amendment who, much to the chagrin of his liberal base, has actually expanded gun rights.

But as Crooks and Liars points out, you just can’t please some people. Last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida, LaPierre took his paranoia about the president to new heights, claiming that the fact that Obama has not pursued gun control actually proves he’s orchestrated a “massive conspiracy” to take away guns:

LAPIERRE: They’ll say gun owners — they’ll say they left them alone…In public, the president will remind us that he’s put off calls from his party to renew the old Clinton ban, that he hasn’t pushed for new gun control laws…The president will offer the Second Amendment lip service and hit the campaign trail saying he’s actually been good for the Second Amendment. But it’s a big fat stinking lie!…It’s all part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment in our country…Before the president was even sworn into office, they met and they hatched a conspiracy of public deception to try to guarantee his re-election in 2012.

 
LaPierre’s iron-clad logic is that Obama’s failure to take any action against gun owners in his first term means he is conspiring to launch an all-out assault on their rights in his second term. Equally ridiculous is LaPierre’s suggestion that he somehow has secret knowledge that the president “makes fun of gun-owners” when he’s in private or had a conspiratorial meeting with advisers before he took office where he plotted the Second Amendment’s downfall.

“Our freedom is at risk at this election like never before,” LaPierre claimed at the beginning of his speech, using the same fear-mongering the NRA has depended on since Obama took office to enhance their own membership and financial contributions.

It’s unclear, however, why anyone should believe the NRA’s paranoia. By LaPierre’s logic, Obama also has a secret plan to launch a manned mission to Uranus, convert the nation to Pastafarianism, and wipe out the pink flamingo. After all, Obama has done exactly as much to accomplish these three goals as he has done to undermine gun owners’ rights.
