An investigation has revealed that Christie used New Jersey's Port Authority as a "de facto political operation" where he would hand political favors to supporters. Understanding readers that the Port Authority was crucial to Christie as a means of winning the endorsement of Democrats and union leaders - which Christie used to strip his Democratic gubernatorial challenger Barbara Buono of allies and political capital.

THE AMERICAN TALIBAN'S RANSOM NOTE

When it comes to paying the nation’s debts on time, Rep. John Fleming (Teahadist) prefers to trust his gut rather than heed the unanimous warnings of professional economists. “Economists, what have they been doing?” the three-term congressman said in the New York Times on Friday. “They make all sorts of predictions.”

“Many times they’re wrong, so I don’t think we should run government based on economists’ predictions,” Fleming added.

If enough American Talibaner's share in Fleming’s denial of the blunt economic reality that a first-ever failure to fulfill spending commitments Congress has already made would be catastrophic for America’s finances and economic growth, they could induce a new recession. Several of the most prominent anti-spending extremists in Fleming’s party have acknowledged that fact in the past, including Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Rep. Paul Ryan (Ayn Rand Groupie), and leadership officials like Speaker John Boehner (Lead Teahadist) and his deputy Rep. Kevin McCarthy (Jr Teahadist).

The first time that Fleming’s mindset gained real traction within the GOP was in the summer of 2011. The resulting brinkmanship around the debt ceiling caused real economic harm even without an actual breach of the debt ceiling. Conservatives frequently warn that economic uncertainty is damaging when they argue against higher taxes on top earners or regulations of just about any kind, but Fleming and his fellow debt ceiling deniers seem blind to the spike in uncertainty they caused two summers ago. On top of that paralyzing jump in economic doubts, the 2011 episode produced the first-ever downgrade of U.S. debt by a major credit ratings agency. Standard & Poor’s was unequivocal in blaming its downgrade of America’s credit rating on the unprecedented political paralysis around something that had been routine and nonpartisan throughout the country’s history. The downgrade cost the country roughly a million jobs.

GOP RANSOM REQUEST




Raising the debt ceiling does not raise the national debt, but fighting over it does. The perverse outcome of the GOP’s 2011 fight over the ceiling was a nearly $19 billion increase in costs to taxpayers over the coming years due to increased borrowing costs stemming from the credit downgrade. Over the 50 years prior to 2011, the cap on borrowing had been raised nearly 80 separate times as necessary to allow the government to continue paying its debts. Nineteen of those hikes came with George W. Bush in the White House. Republican leaders broke that trend and deemed the country’s financial credibility and economic health “a hostage worth ransoming.” But while the GOP negotiating position inherently acknowledges that the debt ceiling must rise, the denial of economic fact promoted by Fleming and other ultra-conservatives seems to have boxed Boehner in politically. He reportedly proposes to force a default unless President Obama adopts the Republican position on essentially every issue.

Lest we forget readers, that back in November of 2002 - that then Treasury Sec. Paul O'Neill, a true "deficit hawk", tried to warn then Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits were expected to top $500 billion that fiscal year alone, posing a great threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off, saying, "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter." In December, one month later, Cheney had George W. Bush fire O'Neill. This Fleming character must have come from the same Cheney school of thought.

One has to wonder why taking deliberate actions to shut down the US government isn't treason, or an act of undeclared war, or an act of terrorism.

Yet another instance of the bloviated ignorance from the American Taliban. Why are these terrorists so afraid of facts? Would it be so they can continue to pull the puppet strings of their unlettered/low information base?

Jon Stewart Dissects The GOP 

Jon Stewart last night focused on a story missed during his hiatus last week: the Republican party’s autopsy report. Stewart was less than impressed, joking, “It is a time of reflection and soul-searching for the GOP, and we’ll let you know if they find one!” 

Stewart mocked the very name “autopsy,” which basically likens the GOP to a “bloated corpse.” He said that the idea of softening tone instead of policy amounts to just tell gay people they are living in sin… with a smile on your face.

Stewart likens the American Taliban's autopsy recommendation of creating pilot programs for conservatives in urban neighborhoods to a Western explorer living amongst natives. Their attempts to engage minority voters and re-tool their message for those markets made the GOP comparable, in Stewart’s eyes, to Kool cigarettes, because both organizations have “seemed indifferent to the overall health of minorities.”

With the American Taliban it's not the messaging that's the problem, it's the message.

The future of the Teapublican Party will depend on how effectively they can reign in the irrational rhetoric of their tea party contingent, and to what extent they continue to embrace the extreme policies that they espoused during the 2012 campaign season, specifically:


- Corporations are people.

- Voting is a privilege, not a right.

- Federal workplace standards and business regulations are unAmerican.

- Women need to be employed to have dignity and self-worth … unless they are mothers, in which case their place is in the home, not the workplace.

- Women who use birth control are sluts.

- A chicken in every pot, and a spy-cam in every uterus.

- Abortions performed in certified medical clinics must be banned, no matter the circumstances of the pregnancy. Much better to have said procedure performed with a wire coat hanger in a back alley, or with a chemical coat hanger provided by a non-accredited physician in a dingy third world doctor's office.

- College students are snobs.

- Students who must obtain federal loans are unworthy of a college education.

- Public education is part of a left wing brainwashing conspiracy.

- Critical thinking leads to heretical and treasonous behavior.

- Gay Americans are an abomination.

- Poor people deserve to be poor.

- Union workers are socialist thugs.

- The unemployed are lazy parasites.

- Latinos are illegal until proven otherwise.

- Naturalized citizens with heavy accents are not true Americans.

- The Bible trumps the Constitution.

- America is a Christian nation.

- Secularism equals Satanism.

- Global warming is a hoax.

- Environmentalism is unpatriotic and an attack on the will of God.

- The U.S. auto industry should go bankrupt.

- Cutting taxes for the ultra-wealthy and subsidizing corporations is patriotic.

- Cutting taxes for the middle class and providing funding for Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and the Food Stamp program is unpatriotic.

- The military desperately needs more fighter jets, tanks, and naval ships -- the Joint Chiefs just don't realize it.

- If you cannot afford to pay for your family's health insurance coverage or preventative health care, then all of you are simply taking up oxygen and deserve to die anyway.

- All progressives are communists.

- Liberal Democrats hate America.

- Secession from the Union is the ultimate expression of patriotism.

- The U.S. President is a Muslim socialist agent from Kenya.

- Slavery was a good thing.

The list of bullshit from the GOP is a never ending saga - but you get the picture.

"Autopsy's" are normally done on the dead, and while I loathe the American Taliban, our country is a two party system - the GOP shows us what's wrong with our society, shows us how not to be, and shows us that the GOP's problems are a plethora, and no amount of autopsy is going to fix that.

GOP SUFFERS FROM ETCH A SKETCH SYNDROME

The GOP is often infected with EASMS [etch a sketch memory syndrome] and Rachel Maddow opened her show last night noticing an interesting phenomenon in Republican politics: party leaders making surprisingly moderate and candid comments during interviews, only to walk back those comments later after remembering what it is they actually support. Maddow showed how this phenomenon runs the gamut from members of Congress to governors to even the man the GOP put up as its presidential candidate last year.

Maddow took viewers on a trip down memory lane to bring up how this used to be a recurring problem with Mitt Romney, especially on abortion and contraception. She also brought up how Senator Rand Paul is facing a potential double-flip of his own, because despite pushing a bill which would “ban all abortions in America,” he walked back from the very idea and even said there are “thousands of exceptions” in an interview.

Maddow asked, “Why does this happen so much in teapublican politics? And how does the other party, or the country at large, argue policy with a party that so often does not even seem to know what their policy positions are, let alone actually believe in them?”

BREAKING: Senate Republicans Make History, First To Filibuster Defense Secretary Nominee.

Senate Teapublicans today chose to uphold a filibuster against Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel, despite many of them previously pledging that they would be willing to allow him to be confirmed.

Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Jeff Sessions (R-AL), and John Cornyn (R-TX) all voted against cloture, despite their pleas during the Bush administration that a president’s Cabinet nominees should receive an up-or-down vote.

Four Teapublicans, Sens. Thad Cochran (R-MS), Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Mike Johanns (R-NE), voted to break the filibuster. The final vote was 58-40, with Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) voting present, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) not voting at all, and Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) voting “no” as a procedural move so that he can bring another vote to the floor at a later date.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) had originally scheduled the cloture vote for tomorrow morning, but surprised many by pushing it up to this afternoon. Earlier today, Reid took to the Senate floor to lambaste his Republican colleagues for delaying an up-or-down vote on Hagel, the first filibuster of a Secretary of Defense nominee.

Prior to the roll call’s beginning, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) attempted to explain that the vote that was set to take place was the vote “to confirm Chuck Hagel,” rather than merely being a procedural vote. Inhofe also claimed that a 60-vote margin was common practice, rendering the actions of the Republicans not a filibuster. However, the motion was still filed by Reid as cloture — the ending of debate — rather than the actual confirmation of Hagel, as laid out be Levin before voting. This leaves the door open for Hagel’s nomination to remain on the Senate floor and renders the GOP’s actions a filibuster under the Senate’s rules.

While Senate Republicans are opposed to voting on Hagel today, they seem to believe that they’ll change their minds after the Senate returns from its President’s Day recess in 10 days. This morning, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that he expected to be willing to move Hagel forward at that time, “unless there’s some bombshell that he likes blood sucking vampires.” Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and John McCain (R-AZ) said roughly the same thing today, leaving their votes against Hagel today confusing.

The hope for such a bombshell emerging seems far less than likely. A speech given by Hagel in 2008 that conservatives have long-sought as evidence that Hagel falls far outside of the mainstream was released today, turning out to be a dud. Likewise right-wing implications that Hagel was secretly being backed by a group called “Friends of Hamas” also proved to be utterly false, fabricated on a far-right media outlet.

After today’s filibuster, the Senate will reconsider Hagel after their break. While today’s vote showed that the GOP was willing to obstruct and delay, they ultimately will be unable to do this forever. In the end, Hagel still possesses more than the majority vote needed for final passage.

These tea baggers have held our country hostage for a very long time, the party of do nothings. If you keep voting for these troglodytes - you get what you deserve!

WHERE ARE THEY?

WHERE ARE THEY?

I have said over and over again on some 1,300 blogs [blogs written to date], that "a mind is a terrible thing to waste", but apparently if you waste 25 million of them, you get the current republican party.

Color still lingers about us, that being the hate for someone not of your color. Whether we see it or not, and since it is no longer acceptable, nor fashionable, it oozes out from around the edges of the radical republican party, and those whom speak it don't even realize that, as good as their intentions might be, as improved as their attitudes might be from where they used to be, or where their parents and grandparents used to be, or where America used to be, it's still racism.

This is not something that should be true even as evidence of our horrific past. But it is. Discrimination is still all around us in so many ways, openly re-directed towards immigrants who are doing nothing more than following the path that brought my recent ancestors here and probably yours, or focused on gays predicated on a mumbo-jumbo of biblical misinterpretations or leeching out still against black people in things like the tea party movement or the republican party as a whole.

Thus it becomes fashionable, sometimes psychologically necessary, that when those radicals express it, they have put it in code, or better yet dress it up or provide rationalization to themselves for it. We say that it has nothing to do with race or prejudice - "Barack is a socialist", "he is bent on destroying the country" and "he was only elected by people who can't speak English", or was it because he was only elected by "guilty whites", "voter ID Laws", "Voter suppression"?

The rationalizations of a racist are too many and to contradictory for the sane minded to keep up with. The whole of the "anger - at - government" movement is predicated on this. The future is confusing, the threat from those whom want to dismantle our way of life are real - as if we aren't already doing it for them.

WHERE ARE THEY?

And yes, the President is black, but they can't come out and just say that, for if so you're an outcast, so now enter the euphemisms, you know "your taxes have gone up", "grandma is likely to be death paneled by Obamacare", and yes America has a "socialist President"!

Facts don't mean a rats ass to the radical republicans when they look for any excuse to hate the President! But not because he is black - anything you can say out loud without your family and friends bursting into laughter at you will do.

Not all our heritage is honorable. Not all the decisions of the founding fathers were noble! Not very many of the founding fathers evolved enough to believe that the black people were actually people. The founding fathers thought they were, and fought hard to make sure they would always remain slaves.

Fear is a terrible thing, so is prejudice, so is racism.

If the radical 4G network [God, Guns, Gays, GOP] AKA The American Taliban's believe there is merit to their political argument, fine. But ask yourself this when you next watch fixed noise, or go to a tea bagger event, or listen to a American Taliban politician, or commentators that praise these very things, or merely treat them as if it was just a coincidence that they are virtually segregated, ask yourself, where are the black faces? Who am I marching with? What are we afraid of?

And if it's really only a "Presidents Policies" and not his skin color - then ask yourself one last question. Why are you surrounded by the largest crowd you will ever again see in your lifetime that consists of noting but people who look exactly like you? Where are they?

Mittens Explains his disdain and contempt for the 47%

In a span of two weeks. two titans of knee-jerk, Reich-wing. brains-free, racist, xenophobic, delusional, greedy, unfeeling, inept, indifferent, self-inflating, and unconscionable profitable voices of the lunatic right wing fringe self destructed.

It's official, Mitt Romney is a douche bag! It's not normal that another's words piss me off, but Mittens has accomplished what little can do. It's not the sophistry of this simpletons views on our country that infuriates me, its the refusal to use any intellectual energy in arriving at it. You can always tell, can't you, Mittens, when the hostage is reading his own ransom note, and when he is reading one written for him.

Mittens got caught up in the moment, the moment of boasting to rich radical tea baggers, which always seems like a good idea, that is until you find yourself in the terminal stages of an answer so labyrinth, so filled with double entendres, disdain and content, that you remember a time when you're not in front of these radical tea baggers lost in your own sentences.

According to the right-wing paranoia prophet, [at a 50, 000 dollar a plate fundraiser in Florida recently] Mitt Robme tells his tribe of banshees his true feelings about 47% of Americans:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "All right -- there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

"My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives,"

A few mere problems with the idea of the overburdened "53 percent." Many Americans don't pay federal income taxes, in part, because of deductions like the child tax credit that have been championed by conservatives and progressives alike. Almost all of the "47 percent" do pay other federal taxes in the form of Social Security and Medicare payroll deductions and gas levies, as well as a variety of state and local sales and property taxes that aren't dependent on income.

Unraveling an often stated teapublican myth about who pays taxes in America - newly pertinent due to Mr. Romney's astonishing words in a leaked video that just came out.

Of late, we have learned that this magical underwear tour, this very bombastic dynamic duo, has very little quantifiable brain matter to occupy the two top offices of our country.

REPUBLICANS ARE A DUMBER LOT

The American Taliban (GOP)

Former teapublican presidential hopeful Rick "Frothy" Santorum, addressing attendees at the Values Voter Summit on Saturday, said that:

“We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country. We will never have the elite, smart people on our side.”

Describing a divide between the GOP and the media, Santorum told the audience that the media “doesn’t like the other side,” BuzzFeed’s Rosie Gray reported yesterday.

“If just a few people make decisions about what this world looks like, what this country looks like,” he said, “then you have people sitting in offices at major media outlets and Hollywood who think they can deal with a small group of people, to get them to jump through the hoops they want you to.”

Santorum also criticized the libertarian wing of the Republican party who:

“don’t want to talk about social issues,” saying that “without the church and the family, there is no conservative movement, there is no basic values of America.”

Unlettered is how the tea party likes it's base, the dumber, the better, hence the information disseminated from Fixed Noise on a daily bases. The GOP doesn't want educated people, or people who actually read (versus taking everything Rush says literally and as the absolute truth) to vote. Consequently, the voter suppression wars going on in the swing states that Romney needs to win. GOP ers don't want people who actually study the issues, because that would mean they would understand that Romney's true record portrays what a Presidential candidate shouldn't be.

Even a broke clock is right twice a day, and "Frothy" has never been more correct. Intelligent people shall always abhor the GOP in its current form. It's a political party on life support, but already in a brain dead state. This is their finale before taking their rightful place - which is the trash heap of history.

I say good for "Forthy" - for admitting the GOP is full of idiots, its the first step to recovery.
