FAMILY LAWYER JUST AS SCARY AS MASS SHOOTERS

A lawyer who’s representing the family of Syed Farook raised Sandy Hook truther conspiracy theories to question the official account of the San Bernardino mass shooting.

VIDEO COURTESY OF MSNBC

The 28-year-old Farook and his wife, 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik, were killed Wednesday evening in a gun battle with police, hours after they opened fire on his colleagues during a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center.

Attorney David Chesley said investigators had suggested that the shootings were part of a workplace dispute by a disgruntled employee, but he suggested authorities had planted evidence or made up claims about the couple’s actions, reported the Daily Mail.
“It doesn’t seem plausible to us that this petite woman (Malik) would be involved in this sort of hyper-caricatured, Bonnie and Clyde crazy scenario,” Chesley said. “There were a lot of questions drawn with Sandy Hook and whether or not that was a real incident or not. But, I mean, obviously these things were found there, how they got there we don’t know.”
Conspiracy theorists such as Alex Jones and some firearms advocates have claimed the Dec. 14, 2012, school shootings that killed 20 children and six teachers were an elaborate hoax intended to usher in stricter gun control laws.
“There has been a lot speculation about it is all I would say,” Chesley said, when asked if he was a Sandy Hook truther. “There’s a lot of people that said it happened, but hasn’t happened in the way that it was purported to have taken place. There’s no question that incidents have taken place and evidence was found but we just question some of that.”

COWBOYS FANS GOAD GUNMAN TO SHOOT – AND HE DOES

A man who shot another man in the head after a Dallas Cowboys football game was reportedly egged on by the crowd of people watching the fight.

The New York Daily News reported that the shooting took place at AT&T stadium in Arlington about an hour after the New England Patriots beat the Dallas Cowboys 30-6.

Witnesses reported that the two men got into an argument, which escalated to a fistfight. Then, as the gunman held his weapon to the head of the victim, the crowd urged him to shoot, which he did.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene and the unnamed victim, a male in his early 40s, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooter was apprehended by police after he tripped over a low retaining wall and injured his leg while trying to flee the scene.
“I didn’t think he was going to pull the trigger,” said witness Leslie Williams to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.

Lt. Chris Cook of the Arlington Police told the Star-Telegram that the two men were tailgaters who had been at the stadium since the afternoon. Their relationship to each other is unknown. The investigation into the shooting, Cook said, is ongoing.

BEN CARSON PROVES HE IS NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL

Wing Nut presidential candidate Ben Carson said on Tuesday that President Barack Obama should skip visiting Oregon after the recent mass shooting and then “go to the next one” instead.

After the White House announced this week that the president would “visit privately with families of victims,” conservative journalist David Jaques said that Obama was not welcome in his state because it would be “a campaign stop for agenda to take away American citizen’s right to own firearms.”
“Imagine a politician politicizing something,” Carson quipped to the hosts of Fox & Friends on Tuesday. “When do we have people that actually want to solve our problems rather than just politicize everything?”

“But, Dr. Carson, would you go?” host Brian Kilmeade wondered. “If the people of the community say don’t go, would you still go if you were president on Friday?”
“Probably not,” Carson replied. “I mean, I would probably have so many things on my agenda that I would go to the next one.”

The GOP hopeful also explained that he would be willing to “listen” to ideas about how to stop mass shootings, but he insisted that no gun control proposal would solve the problem.
“Anything that they’ve proposed doesn’t stop anything,” he said. “Guns don’t kill people, and the Second Amendment is extremely important. And Daniel Webster said that America would never suffer tyranny because people are armed.”

MOTHER OF OREGON SHOOTER FEARED PRESIDENT WAS COMING FOR HER GUNS AND THEN STOCKPILED THEM

The mother of the Roseburg, Oregon shooter stockpiled firearms because she feared stricter gun laws. Laurel Harper, the mother of the shooter, shared an apartment with her son. She was aware that he had mental problems, but chose to stockpile guns in her home because she feared the Obama administration was going to pass laws making it more difficult to get guns. She would seek the least restrictive gun ranges to take her son so the two of them could shoot as they desired. She had purchased several guns just weeks before her son killed nine innocent people.

"STUFF HAPPENS". THE MOST HORRIBLE ANSWER ANY HUMAN CAN GIVE LET ALONE A U.S. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

In the wake of another campus shooting that is prompting calls for stricter gun control, Republican presidential candidates have gone to great lengths to avoid offering any policy solutions and risking the National Rifle Association’s wrath. But none have been quite as explicit as Jeb Bush, whose response to the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon was: “Stuff happens.”

“Look, stuff happens and the impulse is always to do something and it’s not necessarily the right thing to do,” Bush said Friday.

When asked later to clarify his comments, he used a specific example to illustrate how laws are not always the right way to address a tragedy.
“A child drowns in a pool and the impulse is to pass a law that puts fencing around pools,” Bush explained. “Well, it may not change it…the cumulative effect of this is in some cases, you don’t solve the problem by passing the law, and you’re imposing on large numbers of people, burdens that make it harder for our economy to grow, make it harder for people to protect liberty.”
But, as some have pointed out, Bush actually did just that. After a child in Florida fell into a pool and nearly drowned, then-Gov. Bush signed a law in 2000 to require pool owners to choose a way to prevent unsupervised children from going into the water. The law specifically required that pool owners install either fencing directly around the pool, safety covers, door alarms or self-latching doors — or face jail time or a fine.

Bush also drastically expanded gun rights during his tenure as governor, signing the infamous Stand Your Ground law that police used to explain why they didn’t initially charge George Zimmerman for the murder of teenager Trayvon Martin. A study showed that gun violence rates rose in Florida in the wake of the Stand Your Ground law even as violent crime rates dropped. Guns now account for 75 percent of all murders in the state, up from 56 percent in 2000.

Nor is gun control like pool regulation, which may or may not have an impact on pool deaths. States with fewer gun restrictions have higher rates of gun deaths. Johns Hopkins researchers have linked the loosening of certain permit requirements to significant increases in states’ murder rates. In fact, even Jeb Bush himself recently admitted that passing background checks and a 72-hour waiting period in his state reduced gun violence.

NYPD UNION PRESIDENT BLAMES EVERYONE BUT THE KITCHEN SINK FOR TWO NYPD KILLINGS

NYPD UNION PRESIDENT PAT LYNCH BLAMING EVERYONE BUT THE KILLER

Pat Lynch, the president of the largest police union in New York City — the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association — blamed protesters and Mayor Bill DeBlasio for the execution-style murder of two police officers on Saturday.

Lynch said there was “blood on many hands tonight” including “those that incited violence on the street under the guise of protest” and starting with “the office of the mayor.”

NYPD UNION REP PAT LYNCH

Previously, a spokesman for the union told BuzzFeed that “President Patrick Lynch did not make the comment about the mayor’s hands ‘dripping with our blood.'”

The two officers that were killed were Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos. The prime suspect for the murder is Ismaaiyl Brinsley, who also shot his girlfriend in Baltimore and killed himself.

It would seem that the problem in America is the police union, And so it begins, the dead officers aren't even cold yet and the Union is invoking diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain.

Stay classy NYPD police union, Don't denigrate your fallen brethren by using their deaths to justify police brutality. This would be double travesty.

Maybe It wouldn't be so easy for folk to just walk up and shoot cops if we didn't allow our citizenry to have the same firepower as the cops.

When we treat every act of violence against humans the same, whether it be a cop or a unarmed black man - when both acts are seen as an attack on civil society and not just - "business as usual" for the killing of unarmed black man, then and only then can we begin to move forward.

With over 400 million guns in Merica, what do we expect? We have proven as a society, time and time again, that we cannot be "responsible" with guns.

Already blamed for the horrific murder of two NYPD officers:

1. Bill DeBlasio

2. Eric Holder

3. Al Sharpton

4. Obama

5. Protestors

6. Everyone else but they guy with the gun and the gun itself.

NYPD Union representative Pat Lynch, the major difference between this killing and the other ones your officers did to Eric Garner - is that no one is rushing to defend this killer.

JUST ANOTHER MASS SHOOTING IN AMERICA, NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ON!

Here we go again, yet another mass shooting, this time at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., claiming the lives of 13 people including the suspect.

George Zornick, of The Nation, called the scenario “the latest iteration of a now-familiar US news event,” which is a very sad commentary of our time. It’s hard to think that when he said “a now-familiar US news event,” he meant anything other than this has become frighteningly familiar, which is something that should never have been allowed to happen. His piece focuses on the U.S.’s growing gun problem, and how the NRA and their ilk, both in and out of Congress, fight against even reasonable measures in the face of these awful tragedies.

For instance, following the Sandy Hook tragedy, Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX), Governor of Virginia Bob McDonald, Governor of Texas Rick Perry, and others, issued statements to the effect that, had the teachers been armed, lives could have been saved that day. NRA President Wayne LaPierre also said something to that effect, and blamed violent video games for the escalating mass shootings here.

The NRA also proposed having armed guards at every school, which is something that may or may not be effective. Gunmen have cut down trained police officers before, Columbine High School had an armed guard with 15 years service in the Jefferson County sheriff’s department, who was unable to stop the shooters.

Known gun zealot Ted Nugent weighed in on the Aurora movie theater shooting, predictably suggesting that if moviegoers had been armed, lives would have been saved, despite strong evidence and even demonstration that the ability to accurately pull a concealed weapon, aim it, and fire it without also getting hit and without hitting innocents isn't something that can be done remotely well without extensive and ongoing training. To say nothing of the fact that James Holmes was wearing quite a bit of body armor.

After Sandy Hook, Ann Coulter weighed in on school shootings, saying that the way to stop them is more laws that allow concealed carry. She cited a study done by economists William Landes of the University of Chicago, and John Lott, of Yale University, who looked at mass shootings from 1977 to 1995, and says they found no evidence that waiting periods, stronger background checks, and other things touted by Democrats as “reasonable gun control measures” had any effect. However, apparently, they did find that concealed carry laws do have an effect. This reason is two-fold: One, the criminals won’t know who’s packing and who isn't, and will therefore be less likely to actually commit their crime. And two, people will be armed and able to take down a shooter before he fires off more than a couple of rounds.

The right-wing media is already pushing an agenda for even weaker gun laws, chanting the familiar, and frankly maddening, refrain that more guns there could and would have stopped this. According to MediaMatters, Fox News’ Martha MacCallum said that people aren’t allowed to carry weapons on a military base and that the shooters targeted the area because of that. That statement ignores research that only 23% of mass shootings occur at gun-free zones, according to author Matt Gertz.

Some random blogger thoughts:

What's the answer? I can think of many solutions for reigning in the Americans who favor guns over everything else, but unfortunately, there are not enough "patriots" that are willing to stand up to the four million strong of the NRA. Which is frightening in itself, where this organization can bully 316 million Americans.

One such solution, education, The Prevention Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about violence (and other issues), advocates approaching the issue from a public health perspective. One thing they support is the CDC’s restored funding to conduct research into violence, something the NRA opposes because they fear the studies will scare people into supporting stronger gun laws.

What can we expect when we live in a country where its harder to get a job, harder to vote, and harder to get healthcare than it is to purchase a weapon of mass destruction? At what point readers, do we get serious with gun laws? Americas narcissistic view of self preservation is irrational, stupid, ignorant and reckless - another mass shooting, and another chance to do absolutely nothing about gun safety and violence.

Praying for the victims is an empty gesture and does nothing to actually aide the problem......you want to help you say, then get off your ass and do something that will prevent the next shooting -  to those that say today is not the day to debate gun control, you're right, the day to do it was yesterday.

Another mass shooting, and conservatives immediately rush to say that there weren't enough guns on site. But the reality is, an armed citizen has never ever stopped a mass shooting in 30 years - yet we all know, all to well, that somewhere out there, this very moment, Wayne LaPierre revises his usual speech to explain how the NRA is the real victim in all these mass shootings!

So quiet is the night, as the Guns Over People, the bully pulpit, and the NRA ponder how they can keep screaming about Benghazi and ignore the Navy Yard massacre all in the same breath!

Congratulations NRA, you are once again today's worst organization in the world!
