Bill Maher was agog when he heard Kellyanne Conway’s reasoning on Friday for why she could never support Hillary Clinton.

Besides the fact that she is Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Conway said she “can’t support someone who lies for a living.”

“You just said you can’t support someone who ‘lies for a living,'” Maher replied. “When I read a list of provable lies.”

Earlier in the interview, Maher — drawing a line between “the scary and the false” in Trump’s campaign rhetoric — ran down some of Trump’s falsehoods.

“‘I don’t know anything about David Duke.’ Utter lie. ‘Vladimir Putin and I are best friends.’ He never met him,” said Maher. “He ‘got a letter from the NFL,’ which was proved never happened. He gave money to the veterans when he didn’t. ‘I was against the Iraq war,’ when it’s on tape that he was not.”

This latest report has provided nothing, a total of 15 million dollars of tax payers dollars wasted on a witch-hunt - which was to derail a Clinton bid for presidency.

So if Benghazi wasn't used as an election year theatrics against the Democrats, what has been the point of committee chairman Trey Gowdy’s lame assed extended inquiry?

Anybody with an IQ above -500 realized that the final GOP Benghazi report, with its 2016 summertime release, was designed to disrupt Clinton’s White House run. Why else would the committee’s work be extended for two-plus years when it likely could have been completed in six or seven months?

In case you live under a rock, the Vice Presidential debate was last night, and Vice President Joe Biden did his job, which was to take Paul "Lyin" Ryan to task. After the debate I was left hearing a Jimi Hendrix song stuck in my head...Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand? This is what one gets when you underestimate your opponent!

Those right of center are complaining this morning because their golden child was manhandled, pushed around, and on many occasions called out for his, or his running mates.......utter bullshit, I mean malarkey.

During the debate last night Bill Maher was quoted on twitter as saying:

"Hello 9-1-1? There s an old man beating a child on my TV."

Joe provided both audiences [TV and those live] with a plethora of quotes, pointing out the "malarkey" - most often to a water sipping Ryan:

"Stop talking about how you care about people. Show me a policy."

"I've had it up to here on this 47%, it's about time they take some responsibility here."

"There is no weapon facts matter"

“With all due respect that’s a bunch of malarkey.”

“War should always be the absolute last resort. That’s why these crippling sanctions, which Bibi Netanyahu says we should continue, which — if I’m not mistaken — Governor Romney says we — we should continue. I may be mistaken. He changes his mind so often, I could be wrong.”

Below is a compilation, [provided by thinkprogress] fact checking if you will - 24 malarkey's in 40 minutes by Paul "Malarkey" Ryan.

1) “It took the president two weeks to acknowledge that [the Libya attack] was a terrorist attack.” Obama used the word “terrorism” to describe the killing of Americans the very next day at the Rose Garden. “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for,” Obama said in a Rose Garden statement on September 12.

2) “The administration was blocking us every step of the way. Only because we had strong bipartisan support for these tough [Iran] sanctions were we able to overrule their objections and put them in spite of the administration.” Even the Israeli President has effusively praised President Obama’s leadership on getting American and international sanctions on Iran, which have significantly slowed Iran’s progress.

3) “When they see us putting – when they see us putting daylight between ourselves and our allies in Israel, that gives them encouragement.” The Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Ehud Barak, told CNN, “President Obama is doing … more than anything that I can remember in the past [in regard to our security].”

4) “The vice president was in charge of overseeing this. $90 billion in green pork to campaign contributors and special interest groups.” Multiple reviews, including an independent review of all Department Of Energy loan programs by Herb Allison –- finance chair for McCain for President 2008 –- have "found no “pork” in the stimulus’ funding of green projects, concluding that the loans were not steered to friends or family, as Ryan claims.

5) “Was it a good idea to spend taxpayer dollars on electric cars in Finland, or on windmills in China?” As PolitiFact has pointed out, the money for electric cars in Finland did not come from the stimulus. Rather, it originated with the Energy Department’s Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program, which predated the Obama administration. The claim about “windmills in China” is also inaccurate.

6) “Medicare and Social Security are going bankrupt. These are indisputable facts.” [T]he possibility of Medicare going bankrupt is — and historically has been — greatly exaggerated. In fact, if no changes are made, Medicare would still be able to meet 88 percent of its obligations in 2085. Social Security is fully funded for another two decades and could pay 75 percent of its benefits thereafter. There is also an easy way to ensure the program’s long-term solvency without large changes or cuts to benefits.

7) “You see, if you reform these programs for my generation, people 54 and below, you can guarantee they don’t change for people in or near retirement.” Here is how the Romney/Ryan Medicare plan will affect current seniors: 1) by repealing Obamacare, the 16 million seniors receiving preventive benefits without deductibles or co-pays and are saving $3.9 billion on prescription drugs will see a cost increase, 2) “premium support” will increase premiums for existing beneficiaries as private insurers lure healthier seniors out of the traditional Medicare program, 3) Romney/Ryan would also lower Medicaid spending significantly beginning next year, shifting federal spending to states and beneficiaries, and increasing costs for the 9 million Medicare recipients who are dependent on Medicaid.

8) “Obamacare takes $716 billion from Medicare to spend on Obamacare.” Ryan is claiming that Obamacare siphons off $716 billion from Medicare, to the detriment of Medicare beneficiaries. In actuality, that money is saved primarily through reducing over-payments to insurance companies under Medicare Advantage, cutting waste fraud and abuse, and eliminating inefficiencies in the system. Ryan’s budget plan keeps those same cuts, but directs them toward tax cuts for the rich and deficit reduction.

9) “And then they put this new Obamacare board in charge of cutting Medicare each and every year in ways that will lead to denied care for current seniors.” The Board, or IPAB is tasked with making binding recommendations to Congress for lowering health care spending, should Medicare costs exceed a target growth rate. Congress can accept the savings proposal or implement its own ideas through a super majority. The panel’s plan will modify payments to providers but it cannot “include any recommendation to ration health care, raise revenues or Medicare beneficiary premiums…increase Medicare beneficiary cost-sharing (including deductibles, coinsurance, and co- payments), or otherwise restrict benefits or modify eligibility criteria” (Section 3403 of the ACA). Relying on health care experts rather than politicians to control health care costs has previously attracted bipartisan support and even Ryan himself proposed two IPAB-like structures in a 2009 health plan.

10) “7.4 million seniors are projected to lose their current Medicare Advantage coverage they have. That’s a $3,200 benefit cut.” Enrollment is actually projected to increase by 11 percent in Medicare Advantage (MA) in 2013. Since the Affordable Care Act was enacted in 2010, Medicare Advantage premiums have decreased an average of 10 percent and enrollment in these plans has increased 28 percent.

11) “This [Medicare premium support] plan that’s bipartisan. It’s a plan I put together with a prominent Democrat senator from Oregon.” Wyden not only voted against Ryan’s budget, he also called the idea that he supported it “nonsense.”

12) “Eight out of 10 businesses, they file their taxes as individuals, not as corporations.” Far less than half of the people affected by the expiration of the upper income tax cuts get any of their income at all from a small businesses. And those people could very well be receiving speaking fees or book royalties, which qualify as “small business income” but don’t have a direct impact on job creation. It’s actually hard to find a small business who think that they will be hurt if the marginal tax rate on income earned above $250,000 per year is increased.

13) “[Unemployment is rising] all around America.” In August, the unemployment rate dropped from a year before in 325 of 372 metro areas surveyed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

14) “The average tax rate on businesses in the industrialized world is 25 percent, and the president wants the top effective tax rate on successful small businesses to go above 40 percent.” The U.S. is raising historically low amounts of revenue from the corporate income tax, and it already has the second lowest effective corporate tax rate in the world. U.S. corporations are taxed less than their foreign rivals, and the U.S. effective corporate tax rate is low compared to other developed economies.

15) “He’ll keep saying this $5 trillion plan, I suppose. It’s been discredited by six other studies.”The studies Ryan cites actually further prove that Romney/Ryan would, in fact, have to raise taxes on the middle class if he were to keep his promise not to lose revenue with his tax rate reduction.

16) “You can – you can cut tax rates by 20 percent and still preserve these important preferences for middle-class taxpayer. It is mathematically possible. It’s been done before. It’s precisely what we’re proposing.” If Romney/Ryan hope to provide tax relief to the middle class, then their $5 trillion tax cut would add to the deficit. There are not enough deductions in the tax code that primarily benefit rich people to make his math work. As the Tax Policy Center concluded, Romney’s plan can’t both exempt middle class families from tax cuts and remain revenue neutral. “He’s promised all these things and he can’t do them all. In order for him to cover the cost of his tax cut without adding to the deficit, he’d have to find a way to raise taxes on middle income people or people making less than $200,000 a year,” the Center found.

17) “So they proposed a $478 billion cut to defense to begin with. Now we have another $500 billion cut to defense that’s lurking on the horizon. They insisted upon that cut being involved in the debt negotiations, and so we have a $1 trillion cut.” Ryan has frequently gotten in hot water for criticizing President Obama for the very same defense cuts that he voted for in 2011.

18) “If these cuts go through, our Navy will be the smallest – the smallest it has been since before World War I.” PolitiFact rated this claim as “Pants on Fire,” noting that “a wide range of experts told us it’s wrong to assume that a decline in the number of ships or aircraft automatically means a weaker military.”

19) “Look at what they’re doing through Obamacare with respect to assaulting the religious liberties of this country. They’re infringing upon our first freedom, the freedom of religion, by infringing on Catholic charities, Catholic churches, Catholic hospitals.” Religious institutions haven’t been forced to “violate their conscience” by paying for contraception. Houses of worship and other religious nonprofits that primarily employ and serve people of the same faith will be exempt from offering birth control.

20) “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. Try telling that to the 20 million people who are projected to lose their health insurance if Obamacare goes through or the 7-point million – 7.4 million seniors who are going to lose it.” The Affordable Care Act would actually expand health care coverage to 30 million Americans and all seniors will keep their guaranteed Medicare benefits, despite Ryan’s fear mongering. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that very few people will have to enroll in new coverage.

21) “We should not have called Bashar Assad a reformer when he was turning his Russian-provided guns on his own people.” In March 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton noted that “many of the members of Congress of both parties who have gone to Syria in recent months have said they believe he’s a reformer.” However, she did not endorse their view.

22) “When Barack Obama was elected, they had enough fissile material — nuclear material to make one bomb. Now they have enough for five.” This is misleading and unproven. Iran now has enough fissile material, but has not yet enriched to the necessary level for a weapon. The Institute for Science and International Security says “it would take Iran more than two months to produce that amount if it started with 20%-grade uranium, and ‘several months’ to make enough for a bomb using low-enriched uranium. That would give the world community enough time to detect the operation and organize a response, ISIS noted in June.”

23) “[Iran is] racing toward a nuclear weapon.” Israeli and American intelligence officials aren’t so sure.

24) “We don’t want to do is give our allies reason to trust us less [by announcing a withdrawal timeline for Afghanistan].” It’s unclear how our allies would trust us less since they too agreed to the timeline. As Biden pointed out, “That’s a bizarre statement. .. Forty-nine of our allies — hear me — 49 of our allies signed on to this position.”

Let's face it readers, teapublicans should just admit that Romney is the stepson they never wanted. They're just waiting for him to move out. I am not sure which strain of whining is more insufferable this morning, right wingers complaints about the moderator, or right wingers complaints about Biden's smile. Rest assure readers, Nobody beats Mittens at malarkey.

Fact checks, malarkey by the numbers: Ryan's 24 lies in 40 minutes equates to 1 lie every 100 seconds. Romney compiled 27 lies in 38 minutes, which equals to 1 lie every 84.4 seconds.

When learned three things about Paul "Malarkey" Ryan from the debate last night:

1. He is more than a gifted liar

2. He has an extra large bladder - self evident from all the water he consumed from being taken to task - aka cottonmouth syndrome.

3. He can't manage malarkey as fast as his boss.

Polling sources say the verdict is in, and the jury says Mitt Romney handily won last night’s debate, and did what he needed to do to have a fighting chance at winning the election. But what he didn’t do, predictably, was tell the truth.

Romney’s debate performance was chock full of lies, recalling his running mate’s address to the GOP convention, which was also chock full of lies. Hopefully, just as Ryan’s address was dissected and debunked by some media outlets, Romney’s claims are as well, so the debate can move to substantive issues instead of stylistic ones.

Peeling back the layers of Mitts pomp and circumstances last night revels, that on facts Mitt loses horribly, and here are ten of Romney’s fact-challenged claims from last night:

1. An ‘Unelected Board’ Controlling Your Health Care

Despite President Obama trying to push back on this lie, Romney made this claim a few times last night. Obamacare, according to Romney, “puts in place an unelected board that's going to tell people ultimately what kind of treatments they can have.” In reality, as the Associated Press points out , the board that is tasked with bringing down Medicare costs is prohibited from “rationing care, shifting costs to retirees, restricting benefits or raising the Medicare eligibility age. So the board doesn't have the power to dictate to doctors what treatments they can prescribe.” This Romney claim also hearkened back to Sarah Palin’s lie that Obamacare created “death panels,” which was a straight up lie.

2. A Bipartisan Record

Romney referred to his alleged “bipartisan” record in Massachusetts as governor during the debate. But what’s the real story on this? ABC News calls the claim “not quite factual.” Indeed: Romney’s health care plan was enacted with the help of a Democratic legislature. But in general, the body was “frustrated” with Romney “because he wanted to govern like a ‘CEO’ and ‘didn’t pay heed to the legislature and they resented that,’” according to the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation’s Michael Widmer.

3. Dodd-Frank Labels Banks as ‘Too Big to Fail’

One contrast between the candidates that emerged during the debate was over Dodd-Frank, the weak Wall Street reforms and regulations passed after the 2008 financial collapse. Romney wants to repeal Dodd-Frank, and part of the reason why is his claim that the bill designates banks as “too big to fail” and therefore gives them “a blank check.” But as ThinkProgress notes, this is far from the truth: “the law merely says that the biggest, systemically risky banks need to abide by more stringent regulations . If those banks fail, they will be unwound by a new process in the Dodd-Frank law that protects taxpayers from having to pony up for a bailout.”

4. Obamacare Leads to Loss of Healthcare

Governor Romney claimed that the passage of the Affordable Care Act will lead to 20 million people losing health insurance. He based this claim on a Congressional Budget Office report. But according to PolitiFact, Romney “cherry picked” the CBO report and mislead viewers on why people would “lose” coverage.

PolitiFact’s final verdict on the claim is: “That number is cherry-picked, and he’s wrong to describe it as only including people who ‘like’ their coverage, since many of those 20 million will be leaving employer coverage voluntarily for better options. Romney also ignores that under the status quo, many more people today ‘lose’ coverage than even the highest, cherry-picked CBO estimate. We rate his statement False.”

5. The Failure of the Obama Economy

Romney hammered Obama on the economy’s performance over the past four years. One claim Romney made was this: “[We have] 23 million people out of work...The proof of that is that 50 percent of college graduates this year can't find work.”

But here’s the AP breakdown of the facts on this claim: “The number of unemployed is 12.5 million, not 23 million. Romney was also counting 8 million people who are working part time but would like a full-time job and 2.6 million who have stopped looking for work, either because they are discouraged or because they are going back to school or for other reasons.”

And on the college graduate claim, Romney was also wrong. Back to the AP: “A Northeastern University analysis for The Associated Press found that a quarter of graduates were probably unemployed and another quarter were underemployed, which means working in jobs that didn't make full use of their skills or experience.”

6. Obamacare Cuts Billions From Medicare

This was one of Romney’s favorite attack lines last night: the notion that the Affordable Care Act is siphoning off funds from Medicare. The specific claim is that $716 billion was cut from Medicare because of the Affordable Care Act. In reality, this claim is highly misleading. What the number refers to is money that is saved “primarily through reducing over-payments to insurance companies under Medicare Advantage, not payments to beneficiaries. Paul Ryan’s budget plan keeps those same cuts , but directs them toward tax cuts for the rich and deficit reduction,” ThinkProgress notes.

7. Gas Prices Increase

Romney said that “gasoline prices have doubled under the president. Electric rates are up.” This is true--but to blame it on the president is highly misleading. Gasoline prices have little to do with individual policies carried out by a president. Instead, as the Associated Press states, “Gasoline prices are set on financial exchanges around the world and are based on a host of factors, most importantly the price of crude oil used to make gasoline, the amount of finished gasoline ready to be shipped and the capacity of refiners to make enough to meet market demand.”

The AP also skewers Romney’s claim on electric rates going up: “Retail electricity prices have risen since Obama took office — barely. They've grown by an average of less than 1 percent per year, less than the rate of inflation and slower than the historical growth in electricity prices. The unexpectedly modest rise in electricity prices is because of the plummeting cost of natural gas, which is used to generate electricity.”

8. Health Care Costs Rising Under Obama

Romney’s made this statement on the campaign trail--and if it was wrong then, it’s wrong now. Last night, Romney claimed that “health care costs have gone up by $2500 a family.”

But FactCheck.org was on this false claim back when Romney used it on the campaign trail in September. Their take: “Romney says health insurance premiums have gone up $2,500 under Obama. The actual increase has been $1,700, most of which was absorbed by employers and only a small part of which is attributable to the health care law.”

9. Oil and Gas Production Increases Only on Private Land

The former Massachusetts governor said last night that “all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land...Your Administration has cut the numbers of permit and licenses in half.”

But ABC News says Romney is playing loose with the facts. Data from the Bureau of Land Management shows that “the number of drilling permits on federal lands approved during the fiscal years President Obama has been in office has decreased somewhere between 20 and 37 percent compared to the years before he became president - not the 50 percent Romney claimed.”

10. No Tax Cuts for the Rich

To fend off the perception that he’s only concerned about the wealthy, Romney made sure to emphasize that his economic plan would not lower tax rates on rich people.

Think Progress has the details on that claim: “If Romney were to actually implement his plan to reduce tax rates by 20 percent while eliminating tax deductions in order to pay for it, taxpayers with more than $200,000 would certainly see a tax cut. But everyone else — 95 percent of Americans —will see their taxes increase.”

I have spent two and half years blogging, trying to rile the Democrats to get a backbone, to find their testicle fortitude, to verbally bitch slap the radical righties of our world into submission, and yet POTUS played the nice guy. Having debated often in my life, a passive debater loses his ass 100% of the time.

Not once did POTUS mention Bain Capitol, nor did he mention the 47%. Completely unacceptable! POTUS was trying to be nice man in a nasty mans game, Robme is a liar of epic proportions, Robme was on life support prior to the debate, he was one breath away from political death, and POTUS not only used the defibrillator, He made sure that Robme was upright and ventilated.

Unpacking the substance of Robme's message last night leaves us little doubt that he lies more than his companion, Paul "Lyin" Ryan. But a passive, 'nice" POTUS, or a POTUS unwilling to unleash the wrath on these two tools is political death by being a unprepared wimp. When debating, always assume your audience is dumber than a box of rocks, therefore it forces you to lay out all context of ones policy and weaknesses, never assume all Americans have heard of Bain Capitol nor the derogatory 47% comment, disclose everything!

This was just a bump in the road, and if voters truly see the facts for what they are, they shall see that Mittens puzzle pieces don't fit all together, that his math answers doesn't align with the formula he has laid out, that his modus operandi is to - "when you can't dazzle with brilliance, baffle with bullshit".

“If you’re one of the 5 percent of American voters who are still undecided on who to vote for, it’s okay to admit you just don’t really give a shit. Seriously, if you still can’t figure out who you like more –Mitt Romney or Barrack Obama– stay home… because you probably couldn’t find your polling place anyway. I mean, what more information does someone need to make this choice? Obama has been President for nearly four years. Is there a bigger hoax around than the teapublican party? All charm and promise - though the nuts and bolts may be a bit harsher reality. Will the lies work? They sure hope so, because the tea party enthusiasts could not possibly win without this block of voters - which is a "special" group: The "low-information voters," or LIVs, a term that keeps popping up of late.

The term is mainly used to refer to those who vote conservative against their interests. Given the recent media coverage about "low-information" voters we thought at NFTOS - that we'd educate those Americans who rely on talk radio and less-than-factual hearsay from friends and family members to shape their political decisions.

LIV's are responsible for their own ignorance, and if they're getting most of their "information" from Faux News then may God help us all.

Information literacy and facts are becoming more and more important in an ever expanding world of chaos. Many tea party enthusiasts watch Faux News with a high level of fervency, ir-regaurdless of truth or facts. And with every Faux News talking head [Hannity, O'Reilly, Malakin, Coulter], they become more hopelessly clueless about what's going on around them. The creed of right wing media is to lie, and deceive frequently, you know, feed the hungry wolves as much red meat as you can so as to ensure a dumber base, one whom can be manipulated easily - even when they know its truly better to tell the truth poorly than to lie well.

Veteran newsman Ted Koppel appeared as a special contributor to NBC’s “Rock Center” on Thursday to launch an apparent war on what he believes is “partisan ranting” masquerading as news coverage at Fox News, MSNBC and other partisan media.

I disagree with Koppel on many issues, MSNBC's afternoon and evening shows do not pretend to be news; they are pure unadulterated commentary. Faux News pretends to be news, but is also commentary. That is a major difference. One can live with both so long as there is no deception. Fixed Noise deceives. Fair and balanced it is not. News it is not.

MSNBC is open about what its shows are, and it does not invoke "fear" in its viewership with lies, incendiary rhetoric, "Egypt Caliphate conspiracy theories", nor does it have a "Michelle Malakin", whom often is spitting, seething and drooling into the camera every night.








Looking back on TV history, this type point/counter point began long ago starting with shows like "Meet the Press" "McLaughlin Group" and "60 minutes" - that showed there was an actual market for this political discussion in addition to gotcha journalism.

Blaming MSNBC for "degenerating " politics is ridiculous. Saying that it has effected the ability for Congress to do it's job is more than ridiculous. The reality is, news is a business. What people are craving now is honest news, commentary based on facts - not full of fecal matter.

There was a basic false equivalency in comparing MSNBC to Fixed News, and that difference is Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch. Anyone who has seen the documentary film "Outfoxed" knows that what Faux does differs fundamentally from how MSNBC operates.

Faux News lies and uses predetermined talking points that come from the corporate suites - the opinions on MSNBC are those of the individual commentators. Furthermore, the standards of people Koppel threw under the bus are far loftier than the hacks on Faux News. Political voices like Rachel Maddow, Ed Shultz, Rev. and Al Sharpton [MSNBC] use facts to express opinion, not political directives from on high.

The piece also made a false equivalency in trashing the many straight news journalists that are to be found on MSNBC for most of the daytime broadcasting schedule. It was unfair to people such as Chuck Todd, Tamron Hall, Thomas Roberts, Alex Witt, Andrea Mitchell and others who present straight news. You will never find Faux news minions with the same journalistic professionalism.

While MSNBC may have a liberal slant in its opinions, it does not make up crap out of whole cloth like Faux News.

"We have no proof to support Robme’s welfare attack"

The ad is blatantly false; a fabrication critics say is aimed at stirring up resentment toward people of color. Yet, amid a flurry of negative speculation in the media over why Romney refuses to release his tax returns, the deceptive welfare attack has suddenly emerged at the very epicenter of the Republican’s struggling presidential campaign.

The number of Americans reliant on government assistance to buy food grew by more than 70 percent between 2008 – 2011, driven by a lack of jobs and the unavailability of credit as the country grappled with a near total economic collapse at the end of President George W. Bush’s second term.

Despite the nearly unprecedented economic pressure on working class Americans, President Obama did not scrap a rule that requires welfare beneficiaries to look for work. Instead, the administration gave states the option to waive federal welfare work rules if officials come up with a plan that can increase employment among the poor even more.

All this utter bullshit from the radical tea baggers, is there anything beneath them, is there a point where they stop the lies and deceit? Probably not, stay tuned and watch closely as this desperate group comes unglued before our very eyes.

Faux News Viewers Again Top Stupid List

Study after study, year after year, polls prove that Faux News viewers are a little less than coherent on topics or subject matter regarding national politics and worldly affairs .

Quick, were Egyptian protesters successful in their bid to overthrow longtime president Hosni Mubarak earlier this year?

According to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University, if you watch Faux News you are significantly less likely to know the correct answer to that question than if you mostly avoid news shows and newspapers all together.

"Faux News viewers are less informed than people who don't watch any news, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University."

The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that "people who watch Faux News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government" and "6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government" compared to those who watch no news.

Overall, 53% of all respondents knew that Egyptians successfully overthrew Hosni Mubarak and 48% knew that Syrians have yet to overthrow their government.

Dan Cassino, a political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson, explained in a statement:

 "Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News. Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all."

This isn't the first study that has found that Faux News viewers are more misinformed in comparison to others. Last year, a study from the University of Maryland found that Faux News viewers were more likely to believe false information about politics.

This speaks volumes about the quality and style of Faux News, but also about the makeup and intellectual prowess of their audience. This is truly amazing, imagine what abysmal journalism this must be, for people who don’t watch any news to know more than Faux viewers! News can inform people, if done properly, but Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch et al would rather interject bullshit and fear into its' ["the most watched news source"] viewers.

Roger Ailes and Faux News deliberately manipulate it's news coverage and its effective, just review the plethora of polls suggesting that its viewers are a benighted group.

Fox News insists that there's a difference between its "opinion" programming and its "news" programming. One top exec has been repeatedly proving his network wrong.

In exclusive new audio, Media Matters for America catches Fox News Washington managing editor Bill Sammon bragging that he repeatedly lied when he speculated on-air "about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism," an allegation he privately found "rather far-fetched."

If you're looking for the walking embodiment of how Fox is a political attack machine disguised as a news network, look no further than Sammon, who has a pattern of using his position as a "news" editor to distort and slant the facts and push an ideological agenda.

Speaking in 2009 onboard a pricey Mediterranean cruise sponsored by a right-wing college, Sammon described his public attempts the previous year to link Obama to "socialism" as "mischievous speculation." Sammon, who is also a Fox News vice president, acknowledged that he had "privately" believed that the socialism allegation was "rather far-fetched."

A review found that Sammon -- then the network's Washington deputy managing editor --linked Obama's "spread the wealth around" remarks to socialism in four separate October 2008 Fox appearances. And Sammon's "mischief" wasn't limited to his on-air appearances. As NFTOS reported earlier, Sammon also pushed Fox News colleagues to play the socialism card.

In addition, multiple leaked emails to Media Matters for America show that Sammon pushes his political agenda into "news" programming on issues like climate change, health care, and the Middle East. He's even gone on right-wing talk radio to claim that President Obama has "controversial" views on "the white race."

Bill Sammon's position directing news coverage is a clear example of how Fox News hurts journalism. By making smears, falsehoods and attacks a higher priority than the facts, Sammon distorts our political process. It's Fox News' problem -- and ours.

Faux News Retrieves Own Lie

FAUX NEWS LIE

Yesterday, USA Today and Gallup released a new poll that found that a whopping 61 percent of Americans oppose efforts like those of Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) to strip public sector unions of collective bargaining rights. The poll also found that only a third of Americans support such a policy, indicating that Walker is pandering to the far-right of the American electorate and is hardly representative of mainstream political thought in this country.

This morning, during a debate about the situation in Wisconsin and collective bargaining rights in general, the Fox News show Fox & Friends referenced the USA Today/Gallup poll. With incredible brazenness, the Fox hosts actually reversed the results of the poll in order to claim that two-thirds of Americans supported Wisconsin-style laws rather than opposed them.

During the discussion, Fox host Brian Kilmeade asked pro-labor guest Robert Zimmerman if President Obama was taking a “big risk” by opposing Walker’s law. Zimmerman responded by saying that Obama was speaking “for the mainstream of our country, and the mainstream of Republican governors who are not siding with Governor Walker.” Kilmeade responded by saying, “I think Gallup, a relatively mainstream poll, has a differing view. And here’s the question that was posed. Do you favor or disfavor of taking away collective bargaining when it comes to salaries for government workers. 66 percent in favor, 33 percent opposed, 9 percent up in the air.” Watch it here on NFTOS:




Needless to say, it is hardly “fair and balanced,” as Fox News likes to deem itself, to take the results of a poll and simply reverse them when they do not go your way.

 

It’s worth pointing out that, Jim Glassman, the Bush Center director who appeared on the show to argue against collective bargaining, said right after the poll was shown that “many” states actually don’t have collective bargaining. The truth is that only five states do not have collective bargaining for public employees — Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Those states rank 45th, 48th, 49th, 38th, and 34th, in average SAT/ACT scores, respectively. Wisconsin is 2nd.

Update: In the final minute of the Fox & Friends episode, Kilmeade issued a correction and made an apology for reversing the numbers.

Update: Yesterday, scores of New York City residents protested outside of the Fox News headquarters about the network's coverage of the Wisconsin protests, timing their protests to coincide with the 5 pm start of Glenn Beck's show. One protester carried a sign that appropriately read "Fox Lies":

Too bad guest Robert Zimmerman wasn't familiar with the Gallup Poll or he could have called Kilmeade out on it right then and there. As far as Glassman, he took the FOX "news" point of view - no surprise there. The fact remains that Kilmeade and his Fox & Friends producers falsified the poll results for their viewers.

Well, I guess we'll see what happens with regards to FOX's policy about "zero tolerance" for on-screen mistakes and their claim that "immediate disciplinary action" would take place "against those who played significant roles in the "mistake chain," and those who supervise them."
